My electric self retractable stern light just stopped working on my magic deck boat.. Its stuck about half way and won't go down.. My research shows that they do not make them any more. I found a manual stern light that retracts that looks almost the same by innovative light. Im sure I'm not the only one that has this issue. What has everyone used to replace there worn out retractable stern light on there magics.

Mine used to do the same thing. It was do to bugs getting wedged in between each section. I cleaned it and has worked ever since.

I have the innovative light electric one too on my magic, bought it from Eddie marine. Have had it for about 7 years with no problems. Just have broken the lens once and bought a replacement from inmovative direct for about $10.

You are right they don't make them anymore. The only practical option is to replace it with the manual one or fix your old one. The hole size that is in the boat is so big nothing else will work.

I would replace it with a standard stick light. There is a new product coming on the market in the next month or so. I'm pretty sure everybody is going to replacing their traditional stearn lights with these things when they see them.

More details please. As this right now I'm not putting a stern light back on the stoker due to cosmetic reasons. If there's something that looks good then I will.

The guy brought me one of the prototypes for my Schiada.. But he told me I couldn't release any details until he says it's alright.

Let's be honest. Your Stoker isn't coming off the trailer any more than a Schiada now. It's in no danger of seeing a sunset. :D

I can't agree more. I doubt the boat will ever see a night cruise again. I should have shaved off the red and green lights at the time we were having everything done.

The last time we took it out at night almost ran into a boat floating with no lights on. Since that close call, I really don't do any night boating anymore. Just not worth it, with all the idiots I see with no lights on [emoji107]

Is it alright yet? Mine just took a dump last week. Was it from "Safety Whips"?

Does anyone still have their broken powered retractable they'd be willing to part with? I had a customer give me his that I fixed to put on the Ultra but am reluctant to drill the hole for it unless I have a spare in the event of a failure that I can't fix. Multiples would be even better

Please let me know. Thx

I had a broken retractor cable in the one I just acquired. I removed the broken section but am worried it could happen again being it is a 15yr old unit. I want a spare to have on hand if my current one ever breaks. To my knowledge, there is nothing out there that will fit the hole this thing requires and I would hate to have that hole in my boat if this sucker ever fails and I can't repair it

The manual one is same size, prior to scoring on the new one i have, i was looking around and was planning to go Boat Whip or whatever they are called full plexiglass tube with leds. Was just going to use a polished bezel at the base plate.

Mine stopped working on my Force too. It won’t go up, and the lense is missing.

MY motor housing separated from the shaft. When the light was turned on things went really bad. All apart now. Plastic cable is broken 5 inches from the end but the inside wire is still connected. Did you cut the broken pies off, strip a little more for the wire and then solder it at the other end of the light shaft? I haven't taken my shaft out and apart yet to see what the connection point looks like. How does the motor know when to stop retracting? If you would like, perhaps you could repair my assembly for a price. Or I can pay you for the instructions and advice. Thanks.

I had to cut off the end of the plastic gear wire that were broken and do some soldering. As far as when it knows to stop, its just a very simple load sensing circuit that's built in to the whole unit, as soon as it senses any kind of extra resistance it'll trigger an internal switch that stops the motor. It did require disassembling the unit and removing the broken piece of wire and then soldering the bulb figure back to the end of the cable as well as drilling with some set screws and epoxy to hold the shaft/housing together. I ultimately lost about 18" of travel on mine when I did it.

There's some pics in my Ultra thread

Hey Dave,
When are these going to be released?

thanks

They have been out for a long time. This thread is pretty old. The adapter is pretty clean. I had to use it to replace my electric extending light.
