The other guy who's in the running and who will take the job if I don't is 26 w zero foreman experience and has never run a job. They basically said they were going w me because I have more experience. Im not sure what else you think i need to learn in the field in order to be a good instructor? Because I don't just want to be a good instructor I want to be the best. I put a lot of time into the union. I'm sure there will be guys hating on me because I'm younger but if im able to do the job well why does age matter. I feel like I'm much more capable then the guy you are mentoring. Nothing has been given to me I've scraped and clawed to get where I am and I'm always working to better myself. The second you get comfortable you're in trouble. I have a ton of training to do now and a ton of certs to get. I'll be at the itc in Vegas quite a bit.

Any decisions between what is best for my family and what is best for the employer, family wins. I can hardly stand being away from the family more than a few days, don't know how you've done it for months.

I did that notice to my last employer. Didn?t work out so well. They don?t usually give employees notice before layoffs either.

Why companies don't give notice of layoff, almost all companies I have worked for gave 4 weeks severance and then more based on how long you have worked at the company.

I would never burn a bridge but in this case I hope that they can understand. I've sacrificed a lot for this company. I've put in crazy hours and left my family for a few months. This is what's best for my family and I really hope they understand that. Unfortunately someone is unable to teach and they are asking me to fill in. If I say give me two weeks they will just fill the spot w the other guy whos going for this spot.

Vic. Don?t sweat it. My company has had several teachers or union officers. They understand that?s its best for the trade in the long run if they have to move on. Giving notice is nice. But not required.
