Just read this on FB and thought maybe someone at RDP might have seen this unfinished boat:

Last May I posted about my friend who bought an Ultra boat and four years later has never received his boat. The boating community was very supportive with suggestions. Now Rusty and Ultra have packed up and moved with no forwarding address. My friend is $50,000 into this and now we can’t find the boat. Ultra boats filed for bankruptcy and was denied and now he is worried he won’t get anything. I’m doing this for my friend who was buying this boat for retirement. Please spread the word about Ultra before someone else gets burned. Here are some pictures he took of the 24ft boat over the past four years. Please, if you should see this boat please message me so we can hopefully pick it up. Thanks again to everyone.

Damn!!!! That SUCKS!!!! and it really sucks that this dude has tarnished the Ultra Boats name that John West worked so hard to build and use to be one of the top builders.

I’ve heard rumors (not verified!) that Rusty was storing stuff over at Conquest. Maybe drop by there and see.

This is the last I heard as well.
I texted Rusty’s personal cell that I had and it is disconnected.

All I know, is that pic was not taken in the old Ultra building. They had zero white briCK in the rigging area

That's a good looking 24 stealth.

There was another thread the other day about boat not being built. And the builder requested nore money to finish. Every 6 months these threads occur. A simple Google search would help.

Ultra name has been tarnished long before Rusty. Over 20 years since numerous including myself were burned by Ultra. Crazy how people still give him money.

Well there was two Ultra's back then to be clear.. then one became Cobra.

I can't recall John West ever burning anyone?

RD
There was 3 locations when John owned Ultra. 1 became lightning one became Cobra. I had a long talk with Jeff about it.

You read the post the other day on riverwhips?

There was Ultra Boats (owned by Jerry Van Beek) and Ultra Custom Boats (JW’s company). UCB then had UCB-Corona, owned by Big John. UCB was owned by JW and when he first purchased the Comoany he had to honor an agreement to sell hulls go Ultra Boats. Jerry was a PIA and JW ended up in court to resolve the issue.

Back in 1998 I purchased a new 22' Ultra Stealth from Jeff Bohn (SP). He was an Ultra dealer in Montclair back then but he eventually started Cobra Boats. As I recall there was an Ultra dealership in Sun Valley around the same time. I believe they purchased the hulls and rigged them at the facility in Sun Valley. I also remember at the time they were a bunch of hacks and were cutting corners which probably didnt help the Ultra brand.

That is inaccurate. Ultra owned by JW only had 2 locations. UCB did have Lighting (entry level Ultra), and sold hull to UB. JW ended up in court over UB.

I have a hard enough time just approving members and reading comments between here / fb / ig etc.. I have gone through like 96 accounts on fb since this morning... and I have a bunch to go through on here today.

I purchased a new 22 Stealth in 2000. The hull had issues. It was laid up by John West. I have debated this many Times. And John has replied to threads about it years ago.

They purchased hulls and rigged them there. They had the same flyers in the boat trader and all 3 locations were advertised as Ultra which JW owned at the time. My invoice says Ultra Custom Boats. The stickers they gave me said Ultra Custom Boats.

Old news no need to beat the dead horse again. But a simple search would show all these old threads. And handing money to Ultra is on the person not doing there research. There was a guy other day that did his homework and has a 2024 Ultra on the water. Maybe he stuck his pistol in rustys mouth to get it. Who knows what method he used but he got the boat.

Came here for this exact thing.

That boat is visible on street view both from London Bridge Road as well as the side alley next to the building.

The street view photos were obviously taken on different days, but weird that you can see the same boat in 2 different places since it's been shuffled around.

Anyone have a sense of the quality of the Ultras that are delivered? They seem to bring a lot less than other brands on the used market until you get to the older boats (90s, 2000s).

If someone tried to steal 50k from me, I'd be wanting more than a boat out of that deal...

Someone has to know where this guy is.

Sucks big time to read this. 🤬

That’s what you’d think but guys like this are incredibly good at using a sixth sense they have and can fly under the radar to some other unsuspecting “customers” and start the cycle all over again of robbing Peter to pay Paul until the snowball effect runs them over.

Back in the sand car HELOC days Justin Smith was the absolute master. How he kept his scalp is anyone’s guess. He rooked “customers” for over 800K at one count.

Sure is.

Two off-road businesses driven into the dirt with many undelivered yet paid for cars, Predator Sand Cars and Revenge Racing.
All of his mis-deads were well documented on GlamisDunes.com and suddenly they had a major server failure about the time Fox was negotiating to purchase Shock Therapy. I cannot prove it but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a connection.

So Rusty did not have 100% ownership of the molds. Wonder where those are.

Justin Smith still runs ST. But he is part owner with Fox, who own Fox, method and tensor

Don’t quote me but I believe John west still owns molds??
JW still owns a percentage of the molds. With each boat built, IF JW got paid, Rusty‘s ownership % increased and JW’s decreased.

So He still owns Ultra. That's there only asset. Can't imagine how much they owe.
JW has zero ownership in Ultra Boats Arizona. Rusty owns that. The molds had a payment program associated with them.

This has me thinking...If you have to give your money to who would pick..
Who are the best West Coast boat brands on the market today, with renowned reputations for integrity, honesty, quality, reliability.
Howard, Hallett/Nordic and ???

DCB probably has the lead right now. Quality workmanship, technology used for hull design and build, never seen a callout or post about delayed delivery. I don’t typically see them for sale 3 months after an owner takes delivery. People always talk about the level of service they get from them. Of course they would have to be in the budget and that rules me out at least for a while. 😂

I agree, except I see more of DCB’s for sale within a year than any other.

In no specific order DCB, Eliminator, Howard, Hallett/Nordic & Shockwave. Conquest you never hear any bad about and seems they put out 2-3 boats a year.

The majority of those are guys with enough money they run them to the service interval then sell, but take a number for their next build with DCB the day they take delivery of prior boat. Was blown away hearing some details at the regatta of people literally taking possession of new boat and putting up the cash for the next boat as they love the build nearly as much as they enjoy boating.
