Should anything besides water go into drain. Can you pour coffee and other liquids down the drain?

Yea, gray water is an accumulation of your kitchen and bathroom sinks and shower so dish soap, body soap, shampoo etc go into it. Coffee isn't going to hurt anything and like Bhova said I wouldn't pour grease into it.

Let me start by saying I'm not the guy to buy something used from . We pour everything in the sink drain . Yes even boiled down bacon grease . I pee in the shower to help the balance too . Our trailer is 9 years old and we have had zero drain problems . I don't drain my grey water in the dirt either though .

When I park my RV I try to remember to pour about 15 plain aspirin in each drain, I buy the cheapest ones I can find. I guess it kills the algae and other stuff. Sinks never smell.

Why are you asking?

I'm actually camping as we speak and we had neighbors over for drinks last night and my wife poured the water from a can of green Beenes and was told no no no! this is a fairly new coach to us so?

Its just a tank, no different from your black tank. It has more to do with when you dump it, but 99% of the time it all goes to the same place - rv dump. The only thing to really be concerned about is pee and poop. So don't pee in the shower and you should be able to stand tall and dump the grey where ever. But leave a 1/4 of the grey to flush out after the black. Rolling turd 101.

Drop in the same enzymes and flush well and alls good

They make a grey tank chemical, it helps if food stuff (eggs, etc) get washed down the sink.

The way I see it is, if you will pour it on the ground outside, then you can pour it down the sink.

I agree with that second statement, and thought it that was the case, draining my grey tank on the ground would be OK. It's is illegal.
If you feel good with pouring it on the ground, go ahead, but don't let it go through the tank then to the ground. Ticket if caught.$$

My camper had a threaded fitting on the waste line lid so you could put a hose on it and water the plants with the gray water around the camp site.

Some areas like national or state parks would fine you for dumping it. Or even having a drip! Even if the tent campers are dumping their dishwater on the ground.

It depends on where you are.

In Baja you won't find many places to dump. I asked at a trailer park where I could dump and they suggested I just dump it on the side of the road. :yikes LOL We pulled up a dirt road, pulled over and let it rip. When the water is at the top of the tank and coming up in the shower drain....it's time to dump!

It's all natural anyway... :thumbsup

I wouldn't have a problem putting most non toxic liquids down the sink drain. No grease though....

You can get grey water tank deodorizer at Wally world. Sure, you can dump drinks and liquids from food items down there no problem.

Always close the grey water valve after dumping...don't let it stay open to allow sewer smells to come into your rig.
And definitely dump the black first then use the grey to flush the black water through the hose.
I also keep some vinyl gloves handy and use them when hooking/unhooking.

I pee in the shower too. Usually when it's cold outside and the wife is taking her time on the toilet. [emoji13][emoji482]

They might be referring to the smell that might accumulate which will occur anyway. ;).

Put some chemical in the grey tank. Lots of good information here.

The tanks are made from polyethylene plastic which is pretty damn durable. The only reason I know this is because I had to pay to fix one. :D:eek

I think this goes without sayin.... don't poor any booze down there. That's alcohol abuse. :D

Everything but sand (shower).
Sand jams up the valve operation and it's a bitch to get it all clear from the drain line.

I will admit to peeing in the sink while it was freezing cold outside and someone was in the restroom.

Shoot. My buddy Dave peed on his computer in the middle of the night one time. My other buddy Jeff peed in his wife's makeup drawer one time too. Oh yeah, Trevor peed in the top loader washing machine too. I'm starting to see a pattern here.

Unless your tank has a flush system, you should not put any solids through it.

Not all grey tanks are created equal!...Most, if not all black tanks have a water flush in them. Newer units that have garbage disposals installed have grey tanks with a tank flush also!...for removing all them corn kernels and crap that goes down the sink! :D
