Saw on Facebook that the sandbar has been closed off? Or made harder to enjoy.

Anyone been by there lately?

If not, I’ll go check it out this weekend.

Depending on how bad it is who can we write to petition this closure?

I know about the big weekend bouys but this sounds like they changed the arrangement.

I’ll check it out this weekend and report back

I drove by last Friday and there were bouys indicating it was closed.

The water was really moving by it as well.

“We’re allowing public access to the shallows, for boaters to access whenever they want. But the vegetated area will remain permanently closed.

Glen Canyon is doing the big dump, it is a test for future releases due to excessive snow run off. Perhaps all pf the downstream Dams are doing the same. I know Mead will gain 20-30' in two months.

From what I’m reading they put the signs out so far out that you would be in chest deep water. Not really relaxing and good for the kids.

I doubt it will be enforced to that degree. Be cool and they will be cool

I was up there yesterday and the North end of the sandbar is still good for parking. People were anchored outside the signs and were less than knee deep. That said, if you go up river just around the corner there is a new sandbar forming that is much better.

It was above water yesterday in the center. Definitely bigger than the last time I was up there.

Whew I’m glad there’s other places to park a boat and enjoy a beach. Yeh sandbar is so early 90s with no vegetation.

True, but when do we take a stand. Keep closing enough places and there will be nothing left.

Remember when they wanted to make the mouth of the river to topock a no wake zone.

Still a possibility

Having read that - I don’t understand what they are trying to accomplish? They never say what the reason is for the change?

They write it like they are doing boaters a favor because the dates of closure was confusing?

How does taking away access all year round solve that?

I see those signs as non issue. Again likely not enforced at all

How do you guys not miss it? It’s huge!!!!

Honest answer? The sun was setting and I had a kid on my lap driving, I wasnt even looking for it. I also didnt know it existed. it was completely under water when we stopped on it but not by much. My pump was under water when I got out and it was out of the water by the time the tow boat got there. The maker booies were no where near where we stopped. I have pics somewhere that I could post. It was an expensive lesson for sure, glad the boat wasnt hurt and I drove it to the trailer that night.

There used to be buoys on the north side of it but it looks like only one is left on the inside. We have been hanging out there and lately it has been like crash corner with people nearly hitting it.

dumping water under the cover of bullship..........true "look over here" action......media silent and complicit as ever
all the coverage of record runoff is being obfuscated by them dumping just as fast
