Schiada twin turbo setup

Surfing the web I came across this 22’ Schiada with a draw through single carb twin turbo system. Who might of built this and was there too much heat pushed through the intake without an intercooler? Im assuming it was a low boost system, maybe 5-7psi.

I’d love to install something like this or a centrifugal supercharger into my Schiada.

There were a few shops that built systems like that. Banks and PFM are a couple. It looks to me like there is water to the plenum on the manifold. I would guess 5-7 psi of boost as well and typically regulated by holes in the exhaust snail housing

That's not a Banks deal, his name is not on it. I believe their is a single radiator in that box, Banks made some very similar to that. He also had just a small water cooled box that bolted onto the intake manifold with a few fins inside to help with heat. Difficult to tell exactly what's there and how it's plumbed. That line in the front is really too small to be water, looks like there could be a large one in the back, and possibly removable cover in the rear also. I would suggest finding water cooled exhaust housings for an engine that would be under the hatch.

First picture has a -8 or -10 going into a "T" just ahead of carb = may be water ro cooler🤷‍♂️

Some of those old systems worked very well the weak point was the intercooling which can be easily upgraded with what’s available today. Draw thru is easy to tune as well. Throw a cheap roots blower intake on there and a superchiller or similiar and just weld up a top for an inlet. 177 & 250 blower intakes and chillers work too. Just use what u can find. Be creative. Luv the 22 step deck😍

Great idea on the blower manafold. I can tig weld all of my own piping and the hat, so it shoud be easy. I had a turbo VW 2332 with a draw-through carb and that thing was hell to start. FYI, that 22' isn't mine. I had just found the pictures online. I have a 1970 21'.

Blower manifold and the chiller deal also works great if you weld up a single carb top for it for a blow through for a procharger as well

With a carb sitting ontop of the manafold, that would make for easier starts too. 👍

If you are going to do a blow thru carb, get a side slinger. Blow thru turbo is not for the weak at heart LOL unless you go EFI of course.

I had a side slinger on a Hallett with a 500efi. It worked really well.

Tom Scahill set-up. Water in/outlets on removable rear cover as Barry mentioned. Uses a single Harrison Radiator core. Front was usually tapped for a boost/vaccum gauge and/or boost reference line and sometimes a second hole was tapped for a boost controlled Hobbs switch to engage a secondary electric fuel pump.
