In years past, there has always been bench racing, smack talking with a side bet thrown out here and there.....

Nobody got the confidence to back their entry with a little cash?

I got fifty on the GN-911 boat to finish first in class..............any takers?

Always gotta ask the important shit with you :D

I really have no idea Glenn. Is there a published list of entrants? I hear that Uncle Gary may have Big Red back together in time but no promises from him (his Mother-In-Law recently passed so I'm sure that will impact his garage time).

Hey RD, list of entries?

Division III I guess. Looks like GN's are all (if anymore show) in Div 3.

The first time I ran the 9 Hour, 1967, It didn't think an outboard would ever beat boats like Ed Oslen and Rudy Ramos's Twin Ford Cobras. Louis Brummett it won it in '67 and '68 with a Louie Unser Ford. When I was the first Outboard to ever lead the Enduro, 1970, I thought "WOW" maybe we could win this thing.

Scott Schatz, River Dave and Myself ran the 12 mile course, last Wednesday, with a GPS. The wind was blowing and up around La Paz I remembered why the INBOARDS used to "HALL ASS" there as no "WACKER" then or now will stay with a big inboard.

I think there are five GN's registered, several GREEN OUTBOARDS, a very COOL 250 Yamaha Four Stroke on my old Sleek (IT has been re done and looks great). I won't predict a winner, as Enduros have a way "LEVELING THE FIELD". Teague Marine is the title sponsor, sometimes you sponsor a race when you think you can win. Bob and his son have driven very well as a team, but haven't won. If I was a betting man, or if I could bet. I'd throw a hundred on the Teague, twin turbo rig! (Bob used to beat the GN's so badly, they changed the rules so he could run).

Next year, we'll have the "RED HERRING" Class and a "Calcutta".

More down pedal = bigger pussy.......

I would add more down pedal to mine but it gets scarier. Seriously.

Mine lifts the tail, not plants the nose. It makes it hunt like hell.

With full fuel and four people, it's a lot mellower though. Just me is ludicrous.

Wes, try moving your propshaft back 1/4" at the coupler and see if that carries the nose a little better.

It is Twin Supercharged...not twin turbo. Either way, it is a good bet, and it is fast as hell.

After owning something like that, you can see how more weight with more power is a handling benefit in that type of boat. The exact opposite of something like your Trident where lighter weight and hull efficiency were paramount to performance.

I think there was even some discussion back in the day about why no one is building 21' schiadas with infused lamination for weight savings, and a few guys that build em jumped in about how the heavier ones work better and if it's not fast enough just add more horsepower :D

I humbly disagree. Weight is a dumb person's tune.

My boat is overpowered for a bad (top speed) hull design. It is also poorly setup tuned.

If it can be "fixed" with weight, it can be fixed with setup.

Knowledge, money and experience are what is missing, not weight.

Hey RD, list of entries?

We are getting close enough now that we should be able to put up some lists here very soon. I will go over this tonight with Scott in our meeting.

well carl its hard to place bets when the the guy in charge(rd) will not post the boats that are entered.... I will take the action against the 911 boat if you can figure out who I am (LOL). also when are we going to see the spreadsheet that shows that RD is not making a single dime on this race?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? what is the prize fund per class, boat is all ready to go but until I see some cash we will not race

poundsand, I will also talk with Scott tonight about the payout Schedule for you and get something published. As well the spreadsheet WILL BE ONLINE very soon for all too see. I am taking zero dollars out of this thing personally. We are paying Scott Schatz to be the race director, other then that, it's all $$$ in goes towards having the race self funded, so that the entries can be used as prize money.

I will make some $$ off the event, but it will be in the form of T-shirt sales, of which I personally am fronting all the $$ for the shirts. It will be completely seperate of sponsorship / entry fees / payout $$.

I can promise you this, there's payout $$.. We haven't had our final budget meeting yet, but at last check it was 100% of the entry fee money = prize money. Unless there's some last minute expenses it should still be that way, so figure on a 30 boat field there's going to be 5 or so free entries (came with sponsorship) that would yield in the neighborhood of 10,000. etc.. etc.. 40 boat field 14,000 or there abouts.. I have to add up the amount of entries that were sponsored, but it's real close to that.

Anybody want advertising space on the underside of the hull?

My boat is overpowered for a bad (top speed) hull design. It is also poorly setup tuned.

If it can be "fixed" with weight, it can be fixed with setup.

Knowledge, money and experience are what is missing, not weight.

In that case, fixing it with "setup" would be using a different bottom/hull design all together, at which point it's not the same boat any more, and it makes the point moot, ;)

It would start to look more like a cyclone/nordic/force and wouldn't be a v-drive schiada/vector anymore. a "wide body" boat so to speak.

If you were able to magically cut the hull weight of a schiada in half, it would no longer do the things the boat does well heavy. Weight makes inertia, inertia allows the boat to break through the chop (with that hull design) not have the chop push the boat all over the place. This is why weight (to a certain point obviously) is your friend, with these particular boats.

Edit: If you are talking about setting up for plate glass zero wind conditions, that may be one thing, but that's not the shining point of these boats. Put that lightweight boat into some rough water, against the heavier boat and it will be no comparison.

Buck up and put that EFI on there, those turbos work a lot more efficiently when you are slowing them down by spraying a garden hose of fuel into them :D

Pound Sand, so I went over the budget with Scott last night and we had originally budgeted 24,000 for the race. I raised the 24K and stopped. I later had one sponsor have to change somethings so it went to a 23,000 dollar sponsorship and I figured I would cover the 1K personally. After going through the budget last night our budget is more in line with 29-30K.

I am working to get that situation solved here ASAP (the other 6K) so it will be 100% payout for the racers themselves. The entries are still coming in so it's very difficult to give you a payout schedule, and Scott is still determining what he wants to do for a payout schedule. He has had some thoughts of paying out everyone that completes a few laps 100-200.00, almost like "tow money" just for showing up and giving it a run. Again I'm personally for large payouts for Class wins, and overall. I will have that updated for you shortly, and I will try to get the spreadsheet for the budget together for you to see ASAP as well. (Transparency of all funds of this race is extremely important to me, and I think it should be for the racers for ALL RACES)

There are 5 "free" entries into the race itself (if memory serves I do not have my notes right now) that came from sponsorships.. So based on a 30 boat field / 25 paid Entries payout should be 400 x 25 = 10,000 total prize money. I would expect it to fall somewhere around there judging by the amount of expected boats to show.

There is a press release coming out tonight from Mike Q. and Scott Schatz. :) Hope that helps.

That boat don't scare me but the thought of the guys shoeing it worries me a shit-ton.........................:D

Lol. Especially since we are sober. I'm not even sure if I can drive a boat sober or not hungover.

I guess we will see. ;)
