I think a Park Ranger may have lit a few sobe bombs. Now that I think about it there were quite a few big Sailor Jerry Bombs that weekend.

Here is one that we did last year in glamis.

I have learned that it doesn't make a difference with 87, 91, or race gas. Only difference is the $$$ of the pop.

They used to be called Mickey Bombs....done with Mickey's Big Mouth bottles. I remember the first time I saw one of those years ago at Comp.....blew my mind!!

Yes, they can go very bad! The one with the big fireball that I put up, is one which the glass got too hot and melted. The glass will break before the gas has a chance to boil and will blow up the bottle. We have had one which burnt a few of the people. When you place the bottles to heat up, DONT place it in the fire or it will heat up the glass too fast. You place the bottle on some coals that still have some small flames and let the gas boil. Once the gas gets hot enough it will boil and the vapors will come through the pin hole in the lid and the vapors will light form the fire around. It will spout a few times and sound like a tourch before it actually blows the lid off and shoots a mushroom. If you havent dont it before, dont get near the bottle until all the gas is burnt off. I have seen people that go near the bottle when it starts purging, thinking its almost done, and then once the top blows off they get burnt.
