I’m pretty sure we looked into this a few years back but I’m wondering if any advancements have been made recently. Reason for my search is my kid had a partial acl tear. I’ve called several through google but they are either a dead end or they only do prp. What gave you guys found?

Following.
I looked into this a few years back and my Dr. was a big advocate for it and thought he could get insurance to cover it. I did all the precursory stuff and about 9 months in, my Dr. said insurance will no longer cover it. WTF its a lot cheaper than a knee replacement?
Maybe I should just not be a cheap ass and pay the 7k to get my knee done.

The orthopedic said no surgery needed. Surgeon said absolutely needed surgery. PT said no surgery needed. I want to do what’s best for a junior pro athlete. I’d like to find out more about prp and stem cells but I’ve yet to find much. Every avenue so far has been a dead end. Car salesmen sell cars so I get Surgeon’s do surgery but this guy is also a sf49er surgeon.

funny thing about surgeons, they always suggest surgery... (they have to fund their boat somehow!)

Id be interested in some first hand stem cell experience. I keep getting ads for a place in Mexico, and I've heard Panama had some good places also. Would love to understand the pros/cons and get a shot in my back to see if it does anything. I was under the impression it was going to be a no insurance/ cash kind of deal?

A lot of MMA guys are going to this place in TJ, https://cellularperformanceinstitute.com/ . They pick you up from a hotel in SD and you stay at the facility the first few days after treatment. Looks like they are getting really good results. Im getting really close to checking into it for my knees and neck/back. Mainly my neck/back, 2 bulging disks is making life a little painful.

I too would love to see something positive about stem cells. Unfortunately, it seems the only positive info out there is anecdotal. Studies are limited, but nothing I’ve seen proves that it is an effective treatment. Maybe I’m just a skeptic.

My wife had PRP for her neck and back after being injured in an auto accident. She swears by it, but I don’t think it would offer a long-term solution to my problems.

I have done PRP multiple times in my shoulders and it has really helped with pain and flexibility.

I had a friend go to TJ for the week and received 60 million in his neck, 40 million in his knee, 10 million in each elbow and 100 million IV. He was sore after but felt better after 6 weeks and swears it was worth it. He is in his 50’s, super athletic and rolls multiple times per week in Jiu Jitsu. He just felt really beat up.

This has been covered before on RDP. First, you should have an X-ray done on what ever joint your having an issue with. If it's bone on bone you're done, no shot in the world is going to help you. I had it done in my right elbow the whole PRP and the Stem Cell. My xray showed I had some space between the upper and lower part in the joint for the Stem to do its magic. That was in 2016. I quit golfing in 2011 because my elbow couldn't take it. Then a friend of mine talked me into looking into it. My elbow hasn't felt this good even after 2 surgeries(over 25 years) to clean the upper and lower bone spurs. Ortho told me to find something other than golf! He was no way going to do a 3rd surgery. Son in-law was having a problem with his rotator cuff and naturally the Dr. told him he needed surgery. Couldn't tell him if it was torn or just bruised he wouldn't know till he opened him up. He couldn't lift his arm past his shoulder and couldn't reach in back of him say to reach for something in the back seat. He went with me to a seminar and we both made an appointment. Both had it done at the same time. He's back to playing in a half court basketball league and a softball league and I'm back to playing golf twice a week.
Now the member above that's having trouble with his back. Friend of mine ( he's the one that recommended the shot) couldn't watch t.v. sitting in his couch, he had to sit on a bar stool, could not ride his Harley, every little bump he was in pain. He had it done but you need a spine Dr. to show the Stem Cell Dr. exactley where to shoot it. That shot cost him $10K! At that time in 2016 he was 72 years young. He told me his back felt like he was 40 years old again. Felt so good, he went out and bought a brand new Harley Road Glide, Mine cost me $5,200.00 CASH! But it was worth it so far and its been 8 years.
They're doing some amazing stuff with Stem Cell, my wife worked in the ophthalmology for 25 years and people who have lost their vision they're shooting up the eye to maybe bring back their vision. Orthondontis are shooting it in the jaw where you've had a tooth extracted, and shooting in guys scalp who are losing their hair.
This parts a little weird, Nurse Practitioner had a little left in the syringe and she looked at me kinda weird and said, you know I have a enough left to you know and she kinda nudged the syringe at my crotch! It was like HUH, WHAT? She said guys do it all the time. HUH,WHAAAAAAAT? Are you friggin; kiddin' me. Well I had to ask, how much growth am I gonna get? The average she said about 1/4" and more girth! I'll tell you, she gave me that shot on the outside of my elbow that wasn't so bad. The one in the very back I tell you if iI had a stick in my mouth I would've made a 100 tooth picks. That fucker hurt, I told her just plunge it in there Jesus H. She responds, Oh you really want it sting, hold on just keep going the way you're going. Can you imagine that shot on you Johnson? I made her stick the rest in my right wrist.
I would like to ad, find a place close to your house because you're going to go thru Physical Therapy.. I had to go 6 times.

Bad luck, I am a partner in a stem cell clinic in Newport Beach. We use real adult stem cells not PRP. We have performed many knee, shoulder, neck and back cases with stem cells an exasomes over the past 10 years. PM me and I'll get you pointed in the right direction

Stem cells and PRP have the greatest effect on weight bearing injuries such as meniscus tears and discs. Not so much for shoulders and may help a little with hips. A ligament (ACL) is a very poorly perfused piece of tissue and I doubt either would help much. PRP is not curative, just palliative. For instance, if cortisone gives you 4-5 months of relief for a torn meniscus, PRP might keep you good for more than a year. I am not sure about stem cells specifically other than that for ligaments there is no literature to show a benefit. Not sure how young your son is or how bad the tear is but the ligament may continue to thicken as he grows so it isn't an issue. It is also critical to keep the hamstrings strong as they support the knee in the direction the ACL supports the joint.

You might reach out to this charity. They fund and connect families to a stem cell treatment location in Panama. It’s specifically for autism but the place they go is one of the few that will treat children with Stem Cells so they might be a good resource for you to connect with the treatment center.

We are hoping to help speed the recovery and avoid surgery. I would think prp would help accomplish this.

I looked into this briefly years ago for the degenerative back issues that I have. I was told by my orthopedic it would not work. I’m hoping they’ve made some advances

Seems that anyone who is into it is all going out of the country for it. Might have to do some searches, Joe Rogan mentions it a lot.

Spoke with a member who is a partner in stem cells and he spoke very highly of them. Today, I met with another surgeon and he too said surgery for sure. Meeting with orthopedic on Monday.
