I was just wondering what is the best way to shut my boat down for the winter. I live in Cali so there is no winter.. haha but my jet probily wont see the water till it warms up. Im just interested and open to new ways to prevent my boat from turning in to a pile of junk. Mainly interested in the motor and jet shutdowns for winter storage. anything would be great..

i've always just used em at least once a month and never had any issues. you could always hook it up to the hose and run it if you like. a few will say to disconnect the driveline unless you have a jetaway. i have a splitter where the hose goes in so some water will go to the pump and some to the motor. that and i don't usually run it too long.

The fuel system is probably the biggest concern in So Cal. As long as you're sure you won't see freezing temps, you don't have to worry about traditional winterizing. Use some Stabil or other fuel stabilizer and keep the battery tended, and you should be GTG. No sense doing anything special with the jet now. Oil in the rear would likely drip out over the winter, so just put that on the list of things to do before your first trip.

If you wanted, you could use the down time in the winter to flush the block and make sure it's not caked with sand that will lead to hot spots. But unless you have some other repairs to do, I'd leave the rest of the maintenance until shortly before you plan on using the boat again.
