Decision time for the rzr after I rolled it at the dunes.

Insurance wants to pay me out 34500 and total it. Covers MSRP / tax / accessories. Glad I paid for the total new car coverage.

It’s fully paid for.

I can buy back the car for 9600 bucks

Fix it myself.

Rough estimate would be 3500 to 4300 to fix it with better parts and new plastic.

They want to total it out due to liability from a rollover.

I can pocket the rest of the cash (20k)

It will be a salvage title, harder to sell, no full coverage insurance only liability after this.

Or

Pocket 34.5k fuck the desert shit

Or

Roll the 34.5k and come out of pocket for the PRO R which will be 43kish OTD at the sand sport super show. (9k out of pocket)

Or

My friend pays me the buyback price (9.6k) gets the car and they fix it themselves and I’m back to deciding what to do with 34.5k

Would it be worth it to buy it back, fix it, and sell it to recoup more money? Then go buy a Pro R cash. I’ve seen multiple people on Facebook and Offerup who are constantly selling totaled RZRs they fixed so I would assume there is money to be made?

If you have a friend that wants to do the buyback and fix it that part is a no brainer.

You're only decision is what to do with the money, buy another new one, upgrade, etc.

If you like riding you gotta have a car

If your staying in the desert game - pocket the cash and plunk down a little more for a Pro-R. Heads and tails above the old XP cars

I'm with @Racey on this one for sure. Let your friend buy and rebuild it. Take the money and put it towards whatever is next. Oh, and friend owes you at least a pizza for the hookup fees.

Hope everyone was OK from the rollover:confused:

My River neighbor just went thru the same deal. They took the cash and upgrading rzrs. I almost bought it. But didn't have time to drive to Havasu to check it out.

What are the details on the car? What’s broke?

Take the payout for sure. If your friend wants the car, let him have it unless the car is easily fixable and you are attached to it.

We need more details and pics to properly criticize this situation….

1st off should of bought a can am, now that your going to be flush w/ cash might look at a spend car, oh, I mean Speed car…..

don’t forget

it’s boating season DS last weekend is the kick off !

can we circle back and deal with this in September?
asking for a friend…..

Now If you need to do the deal like right now

get the 9k from your friend before you commit and pocket da cash! You don’t want to be waiting for him to get it…

If you need an account to store your cash in let me know!
I have lots of accounts w/ 0 or near 0 balances….

lol

good luck !!

Buy the car back, bring it home, go over it closely to see what the repair would really take...if its too much, sell it as is and probably recoup more then the $9600 you paid the insurance for it...

I would buy it back. My neighbors was a regular 1000 but only 700 miles like new. It was 8k buy back. Needed 2k in parts. With a possibly of a few more unforeseen.

I'm leaning towards that since I have time to fix it and I can wait for 4th of July deals / sand sport super show deals for cage and doors. I only have 1000 miles on the thing.

Buy it back 100% That is an easy fix. It’s good it was all stock arms and radius rods. They took the brunt and not the chassis.

I like your upgrade plan. I’d get better/upgraded radius rods. Stick with stock trailing arms in case it happens again, the trailing arm will bend. If you want to spend the money, a new aftermarket cage come sand show time. If not, a factory take off cage to replace yours and probably a bunch of odds and ends.

If you start the hunt now you can find all the take off doors and plastics for cheap and skip the aftermarket doors if you desire.

If for whatever reason you still want to sell it, I’m interested.

My good friend has a business fixing them. He was the one that told me to pass. He could fix it for you if you don't have the time to do it yourself. The factory plastics were one of the most expensive things to get. Rest are take offs.

You only need-

radius rod
trailing arm
axle

in order to actually drive it

I would get those so you can at least drive in / out of trailer and garage Then keep an eye out for your plastics

Over summer you might be able to get a deal on a cage and doors - cash buy! Find a cage / doors you like and then approach them in July

State Farm will insure vehicles with Salvaged titles with full coverage as long as you show proof you fixed them... just FYI

If it’s only say $6-7,000 with aftermarket cage and doors

is it worth it to go thru the insurance and have it totaled out

You should probably replace your seat belts as well. Did you inspect the seats for broken welds, cracks etc?

What does 34k buy in the used market?

A similar modded Turbo S with similar miles.

I’d take the money, put $6-7k in the car to build it to what you want and know you will never lose money on it.

You’ll have $18k in your pocket, and at minimum $8k equity in the car that you own outright.

I’ve got the same car right now. I’ve been really impressed with it.

A Turbo S will start walking away above 55-60 because the suspension is better. Below that speed.. not a ton of difference. Drivetrain is the same between the 2.

@crzy2bealive if you keep it, have DC do the suspension. It will be like a new car.
