Hey Everyone, I’d like to get some opinions on prop setup. I have a Vector with a speed master #3 drive running a little under 1000hp. Just playing with a few props and curious if anyone has good recommendations on some sizes it would like the best.

You may ask Mike Lotka at Conquest or Carson Brummett, they built one very similar (turbo motor) many moons ago. Not sure who has the boat now.

Gonna bump this, if anyone has or knows who has any extra props laying around for a speed master 3 let me know I’d be interested in possibly buying some if they’re the right size.

What sort of RPM do you want to turn? I have a spare that I am supposed to be getting from the guy who I bought mine from, plus you could do a short prop test with the one on my boat. I have not pulled it off to see if it's marked.

All of the props I have tested I’m getting about 5200-5500 rpm 80-85mph and you can just tell there’s some more top end to go. It definitely prefers a 3 blade but I have a 4 blade that works alright too.

Bitchin Vector. Luv it. I threw this thread out a while ago but didn't get shit for a response. My bud is having a hard time with prop selections/availability as well on his 22 Schiada/#4 drive that i help him with. The round ear chopper three blade seems to work the best but doesn't carry the nose well. This like most big drive/cruiser set ups the motor is far forward to fit a trans (PG in this case) have one of those ultra high dollar 4 blade merc cleavers in a special case but it's way too much prop and stuffs the bow. Hard to find 19 spline props.

I’ll have to give this a try, currently the best prop I have is a 3 blade cleaver but it’s still just not where I want it to be at.

Gonna bump this post to the top again found a 3a drive I was going to switch to but decided I’m gonna run the 3 til it dies first, so if anyone knows of any props laying around let me know I’m still on the hunt.

Cleaver is going to provide stern lift... a chopper will be a better option.

Agreed. I have tested quite a few props on a 22 schiada with a #4 and the chopper is definitely the way to go to carry the nose especially because most of these ski race rigged boats with speedmasters have the engine very far forward and you gotta get that nose up, the fatter the ears the better. None of the cleavers worked for shit. Usually you have to find a big offshore boat prop and have it cut down. Have yet to find a 4 blade chopper but I think that would be the ticket.
