I’m thinking very seriously about building an RV garage. Does anyone know any builders they would recommend? I know work is at an all time high right now and materials prices are outrageous, so I’m sure that’s an issue, but I want to at least explore the idea..

Get ready.....

Our son did the drawiNg’s for our friends on the south side of town. Just a basic 16’x60‘ doors on both side. They went out to a few GCs to bid. The pricing was around $120k. Turns out our friends are doing the pool and interior remodel first hoping that the lumber and construction craziness slows done.

That being said we just submitted for our RV garage to the building department and will be moving forward in march when our tenants move out. Been 3 weeks and just got notice that there are 3 clarifications needed. Looks like the 5 day turn around on the Lake Havasu Building Dept is a little longer these day. Not surprising.

Damn. I should really start a division out here in Havasu. Garages only and I would be less stressed then CA projects. I could probably persuade guys to come out and work. Couple of us should team up and turn our money sucking vacations into a profit and write off 😁

PM me and I can give you a list if you want to do it yourself. I am doing an owner/builder in Lake Havasu right now. I have a thread going in the new construction forum. I have had great luck with a few different contractors and had no so good luck with a couple others. Finding someone to return your calls is only half the battle, lol.

I recommend you contact numerous local contractors. By all means, if they’re slow to respond - move on. Go larger garage than you think you will need. Get absolutely everything decided and dialed in. Changes are extremely costly and time consuming. A good GC is important. But, we found a good knowledgeable daily on site superintendent was even more important than the GC. Best thing about a well established GC is their list of good sub contractors. The subs do the work, it’s observed by the Supt, the GC should be able to mostly just stand out of their way. Once our 25 x 50 RV garage was completed we contacted local vendors for bids on a epoxy floor. It wasn’t cheap. But, very glad we did it. We used Curp Appeal and were very happy with them. Lastly, windows. Some GC won’t install them. We were able to have 4 large windows on the upper east side of the garage. They’re great and provide ample natural light.

I am. Just got back to CA 1.0 and starting something in CA 2.0 makes sense. I think biggest hurdle will be framers.

Outlets - more than you think.... Battery charging location, and in the garage, down the sides and front and back, and light switches by each door...... garage door opener activation buttons just inside roll ups.... and at any doors.
