... don't want to help clean the boat, because I always spend hours doing it anyway, and will just go over what they've done lol... It's fun though, I've always enjoyed cleaning and detailing boats/trailers.:thumbsup:D

Could not agree more! Let the others get out and go inside... I have a good time, by myself, cleaning the boat!

Rule #1: Shut the fuck up about me wiping my boat down on the water. I'm gonna do it as much as I want, you fucktard, so you're mistaken if you think your comments are gonna make me change. If you don't like it, get a ride somewhere else. I won't ask for, and don't want, your help cleaning it at the end of the day because I like it cleaned my way, but keeping it wiped down during the day makes my job easier at the end of the day so shut it. Whew... such a pet peeve of mine I got a little heated there. Lol

Better now.... :D

We're really picky about who we invite to come with us, so we generally don't have to worry about people doing stupid stuff.

Lots of crazy demands on here... no jewelry? Lol.

OK, I'm not worse than anybody else.

No Shoes
No Schedules.

If I wipe my boat down during the day, and you get it wet, I wont go apeshit on you, I'll just wipe it down again later.

Dont offer to help clean the boat at the end of the day when it's back on the trailer, you'll just do it wrong anyway.

Yep I know how you feel. I'm always wiping the boat down and getting crap for it but it really makes it easier at the end of the day.

My biggest peeve is people jumping up to 'help' when coming into a dock. Just stay seated and I will take care of it. I understand you want to help, but don't. :)

You need a bigger garage with at least a swamp cooler. ;)
Got one in the makes. September should be our move in. Lakefront sucks when it comes to cleaning boats. No air - no circulation. Now I'm in a warehouse off Acoma... Much better.

If I invite someone then it is gratis for the whole deal. A couple bucks would be nice but I'm not going to make a case of it. That's how I treat my guests.

If someone volunteers to come along then yeah, pitch in a little ya cheap bastard. :D

Pretty much where I come from.
I heading there anyways, be glad to have you along. A beer or burger would be appreciated if offered though.

No Glass
No Spray Tan oils
Remain seated when moving & docking keeping all hands, legs, and other body parts inside the boat
If on deck, use 3 points of contact
Do not touch the Canopies. They are not hand holds.
No Shoes, Sandals, Water Socks or Sandy feet
No Drugs
No Smoking
Everyone Helps Clean
If you are not comfortable - just say so!
Have Fun!
My WORD is FINAL

I learned a while back that a lot of rules is a good way to run people off (yea, I actually hate people just about as much as it looks like you do). :eek

One more rule.

DON"T GET THE BOAT WET!!!!!! :eek:D

On the inside at least. ;)

I don't ask for gas money but at the end of the day everyone gets a micro fiber rag placed in their hand. They are expected to help wipe down the upholstery and help me wipe down the hull. I always wake up early to go hit any spots they missed.

I've started with a 20 ft pontoon boat with nice upholstery, that I would wipe down, but do a real cleaning at the end of the weekend. Now I have a beautiful hallett 270 that deserves TLC after each day.

Besides no shoes I really don't have rules. It's about having fun and its just a boat. I can fix it. I will call you out though if we get out and you leave your trash in the boat. Take your empties with you. I'll wipe it down. I have a swamp cooler in parker and Ac back here. I really don't mind.

I think most the people we all boat with pretty much know the rules. It's the newbies that need the rules explained plus all the safety stuff like Fire extinguisher location, life jackets, etc.

P.S. No Banana Hammocks! LOL Unless it's on Mels boat.....LOL

Not sure if this was brought up but... Rings and jewelry while in the boat? Crawling across the deck or pulling up to a dock and reaching out? Rings etc can easily scratch the gel or paint? Not sure how everyone feels about this?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm gonna go with what OD1 says on this. It's a boat. If your ring scratches the gel, I'm sure it wasnt intentional. If I can't buff it out, I'm sure a color sand will. I wont ask you to pay for it. Now if you get on my boat with a nose ring, or those stupid plug things in your ears, well, get out cause you look like a douche:thumbsdown

And I aint talking about you PR.

Not directed at you at all, hun, or your doll of a wife. :) I saw her wiping up her drips after going into the boat for something and thought that was incredibly thoughtful :thumbsup

Now Hammer on the other hand.... splashing the boat over and over on purpose..... thats another story. The first time was funny, the next few got a chuckle... the 10th time? Well, you can probably guess that I wished there were a few curbs at Fishers... ;) :)

Don't walk on the deck.

Don't stand on the deck.

Don't climb on the deck.

Don't ass scoot across the deck.

Don't belly drag across the deck.

Stay off the fuggin' deck.

What is it with people? You put them in a boat and the first thing they do is try and walk on the damn deck. You don't walk on the hood of your truck, so what the fuck is the big infatuation with a boat?

If you're hanging out with knuckle-dragging women, I think scratches in the gel should be the LAST of your worries.....

Had a 1st timer up on Shasta with a toe ring. She scratched the whale tail with getting in and out of the boat. shit happens. You live with it.
Had a friend who owned a tat parlor and he had a LARGE Diamond Ear Gauge he lost when he turned his head and away it went.
The other thing is long toe nails. My rear seats have a few battle scars from toe nails.

I see your point, I don't like people walking all over the deck either, but I get more worried about someone slipping and falling when doing that. Its very slick and has a lot of wax and my dad's almost went down a few times doing it.
Tell your dad to use 3 points of contact next time!

I don't get it? :headscratch:
You got a closed bow boat, side tied with a bunch of other boats. How in the fuck are you supposed to get around, gracefully, with out walking on the bow/deck of your neighbors boats?

Holy shit many of you guys sound like federal employees......no fun allowed. I use spray sunscreen all the time and it had not harmed my upholstery one bit.....sunflower seeds are a river necessity who cares if I need to spend 10 seconds with my cordless vac to pick them up. I really hope you guys are kidding with some of this stuff......lol.

so this may seem like an ignorant question, but what is the reason for the towels? Is it to keep sunscreen off the seats or to soak up the water or to not have people touching the upholster.

I have boat towels I'm just not sure why:D

Well, they used to be if you were a guy, I wanted a hundred for gas. If you were a girl, you had to be wearing a thong. But then I got married and housebroken. Sigh. So now it goes something like this;

respect me, do what I say. (Captain)
respect my wife, (First Mate)
respect my boat,
don't whine, bitch, piss or moan,
no Debbie Downers
take care of your kids
clean up after yourself
sit on a towel,
help out whenever and wherever you can
and have fun! Lots of it. That's why we bought the damned thing
because spending time on the lake with our family and friends and being able to make them happy is a gift that I freely give.
If you want to chip in for gas, I love ya, but if things are tight, help me wipe it down.
No rude stuff
Stay away from the prop area, regardless of whether the engine is on or not.
Stay where I can see you.

Is that enough? Cuzz there's more. LOL

I don't understand the fingernail polish thing.:cool

Maybe a little bit of both? But we always sit on beach towels while in the boat. I will always throw 2 towels over the engine hatch if we stop and take a dip, tie up at steamboat, or pull up in the channel just to protect the upholstery.. It's just something we've always done.:)

No sand/dirt in the boat.
No glass bottles unless it's Tequilla for a night cap.
No screaming like a little bitch when on the throttle unless life threatning.
No jumping out of the boat when the motor is running.
Offer what ever you have to offer. water, snacks, beer, (check out that chick) Take pictures

I'll add that I started laying towels out on the floor of the boats for several reasons. 1). Its cooler under foot, both boats (late 70's and early 80's day cruisers) have dark brown carpet, which gets hot in direct sun. 2). Less to clean up and vacuum at the end of the day/trip. 3). Towels are inexpensive, and can be easily replaced, your carpet/upholstery not so much.

Pretty damn easy don't smoke in my boat that I just had new upholstery done in.
Don't purposely place shit on the gel of the boat that is going to scratch it.
Accidents happen but if they do something that causes damage that I have asked them not to then they won't be coming again.
Don't need gas money don't really think them being in the boat is using up that much more than if they weren't in there. Last rule, for them to have fun and have a good time that's what were out there for.

I have pretty basic rules.

-I don't care how good your kid can swim, if he's under 18 he wears a life jacket or doesnt go.
-Do not walk on the deck, you can lay on it, but no fuggin walkin on it.
-I point to the motor, "you reach back there you will get burned or lose a limb. If something flys back there while under power leave it". Open engine bay, with OT headers and blower (has belt guard)

Thing that really pisses me off; after we go out and we return & I tie up the boat or anchor it then I wipe it down. Do not let your kids splash and play around the boat slinging water eveywhere over the boat. I wipe it down for a reason!

I once had two kids playing around my boat and water was going eveywhere, motor, interior, deck etc. "I nicley went over and asked them if they could move down a little bit or not to splash so much. There dad came back with "Boats were made to get wet & if you don't understand that maybe you don't need to have a boat" :eek

I laughed decided not to get into it grabbed a beer and a towel and went to go wipe the boat down, again.

mine is a unwritten rule, yes we asked you to go boating, have fun, enjoy our boat, tubes, life jackets, drinks, chips whatever.but when we are done and the fun was had if you don't pitch in a few bucks for gas you will never be invited again.is that weird ?"

I never accept or ask for gas money, I'm gonna burn the gas whether they're on the boat or not! If I can't afford to buy the gas for MY boat, then I probably shouldn't own it!

All of these reasons are why I have a 2 seater! You don't have to put up with people who don't respect your shit. My girl needs no "pep talk" or needs to be told what boat etiquette is.

You guys are some anal fucks!

I really only have a few rules. The most important first.

1. Do not dive off of the boat. You have no idea if its deep or shallow. This rule has saved a friend of mine while on my boat just over this past fourth of July weekend. He was about to dive in head first, I said hold up, no diving, EVER. I figured it was a few feet deep. He jumps in cannon ball style and lands on the lake bottom. Head/shoulders are out of the water and his ass is on the lake bottom. If he would have dove in, I don't want to know what would have happened.

2. Don't flush anything but shit, piss or toilet paper down the toilet.

3. Help with dock lines and bumpers when we dock.

4. Have a good time, get drunk (glass bottles, cans, liquor, wine, whatever) eat, sit wherever you want and hold on to something if you do have to get up and move while we are moving). We'll all clean up later.

And you know what, the boat looks just as nice as it did when it was new.

Who wipes their boat down while on the water, LOL Nuts.
