Anybody have gotten their windows tinted lately? It’s been awhile for me and got my new truck done about 3 weeks ago. Looks good on the outside but looking from the inside out in direct sunlight it looks cloudy/hazy. Never had this issue before on other cars I had done. Just checking before I bitch at the guys who did the work.

Just had my windows done about 3 months ago. It was only hazy for about 24 hours (while it was drying) after that they’ve been completely clear. 3 weeks seems pretty long to me.

Do you know what brand of film? I’ve seen it take a month + for the dark water spots to work their way out if the weather is cold and there is little sun out during the day.

If it is hazy looking from the inside out only are you sure it isn’t just soapy water residue or whatever solution the shop used installing the film?

Try cleaning with sprayway and a microfiber towel.

I have cleaned them thinking it was the water or whatever is used to install the film and it still looks cloudy. Some things I’ve read says it can take 2 months to dry. But living in so cal it’s never taken that long before.

Llumar ctx was used.

For sure in areas with lots of sun it shouldn’t take that long to dry out! Thats a good film, maybe give the shop a heads up on the issue unless they specifically told you it could take that long....

In colder areas in the winter that moisture freezes and it seems to take forever to dry out.

Haven’t spoken with them yet and was researching first before I complain. Have known the company for a while as they wash/detail my fathers cars weekly and mine from time to time. So there is a pretty good relationship

I wouldn’t consider it unreasonable to just ask about it. Ya never know, coulda been a bad run of adhesive on the roll or something. Shit happens

Bad adhesive a common thing?

I’ll bring it to their attention after Christmas.

I had mine done with 3M tint. It was expensive, but I don't recall any haze.

It's about seven years old now. Still looks the same, but the micro scratches on the inside are making me nuts at night. During the day, it's still perfect.

I did the windshield to match the side doors. I don't want to pull it off the windshield, but I might not have any choice. :(

I would simply bring to the tiny shop and ask if it’s normal, if it’s wrong I’m sure they will replace and if not they will explain. I do know the cold weather will cause a slow in drying but three weeks is a long time.

I had llumar before on a couple of BMW we had and was always clear as can be (installed by different company) this it’s just hazy weeks after and driving me nuts. I also don’t like to complain, as I typically just move on and go somewhere else next time.

On some lower end films i’ve seen it. At least thats what the manufacturers blame it on.

I had Viper ceramic 70% on my windshield and had to take it off cause it appeared hazy.

I wouldn’t go guns blazing about the issue. I’d imagine it would be warrantied. Sounds like you have some good history with the shop so i wouldn’t consider it complaining just to ask about this.

Have your dad call them and ask. ;)

Going to look at his truck in a few hrs to see if it’s the same. If not then there is issue.

I had asked him to check but he couldn’t tell. He can’t really see anyways so I knew the answer when I asked. Lol

Well at least you will have a baseline since you both got them done. Just remember that conditions are different though since his truck was parked for a couple weeks.

Id lightly complain cause the five o can give you a ticket if its not proper. And they decide what is legal and not at the roadside.

Just had my new truck done ewith llumar 15% ceramic and tge windshield band was hazy, figured out it was residue from a not so clean microfiber used to clean windshield. It left a haze and that was tinted over, no big deal, had it peeled, recleaned and tinted, good as new

Actually they decide what to enforce on the roadside. The letter if the law states no window tint period. Typically lighter tints are not bothered with. If the tint is too dark to see into the car during the day, the chance of being ticketed goes up drastically.
