I spent the last 3 days, getting my boat ready for the season.
Had to install a new ladder, which I am almost happy with. It recessed a bit to much under the swim step, but the swim step has all kinds of obstacles to deal with on the installation. So moving it is not much of an option.

Worse news of all, is that you can no longer buy the original OEM Cobalt ladder that wore out. Uggg…

Installed china version of sea deck on both swim steps… bottom fit great, but the top one didn’t fit as well as I would have liked.

Installed a new GPS / FF - figuring out the mounting location was more time consuming that I thought, but finally found the perfect location.

Spent more hours than I want to admit with the buffer.

And lastly, installed a new flag pole and flag… Now she is getting there.

The best news of all, my son bought his first boat this weekend… older Sea Ray with old school Merc 150…

Those early 2000s Cobalts are kickass boats. I really like the blue models, it's a great color.

Agreed, Cobalt makes one hell of a boat.

Like you said the early 2000’s, I put them up there with custom boat makers, even better when you consider the overall quality, lay outs and creature comforts that the custom boats didn’t have back then.

Mine is 2004 Cobalt 240, with the 6.2 Merc and Bravo 3 drive. I really wanted the 496 one. But when mine popped up with 265 hours and garaged its entire life. I jumped on it. Here are a few pictures of day I picked it up, which was about 18 months ago ish.

OK, I got some more time on the boat this afternoon…
Fuck me… Cutting fiberglass sucks balls…

The stereo on the boat had some decent bones to it… but the previous owner replaced 6 - 6.5 speakers with piece of shit Clarions, but was hitting them with a decent sized amp. Combine that with a blown 8” RFostgate Sub @ 8 ohms… Being powered by an old school RFostgate 600watt amp… Love that amp… I initially wired the sub at 4 ohms, giving it the full 600 watts, it didnt like that at all. So wired it at 8ohms… which is closer to 300 watts.

Being the cheap bastard that I am.

Bought a Fusion RA-70 (I Think), on ebay… Wow.. great radio, with an app for you phone, and you can control the stereo from you phone. Because the stereo is located on the opposite of the driver. This really helps...

I replaced the blown sub, with a Kicker 8 (4ohm dual voice coil, wired to 8ohm)… that was a huge improvement. Then I realized those Clarions where horrible. The tweeters might be the worst I have ever heard… It was painful…

Went to the local stereo shop who matchs pricing of Amazon for me… Installed 2 - 6.5 Kickers and 2 - 8” Kickers… But I had to cut fiberglass for the 8” to fit.. Yes MFKRs I am still itchy.

Getting there… Sounds pretty darn good. But I think I need another Kicker 8” Sub. That amp can handle it.

If the video plays, it does not do justice to this sub. Thats not how it truly sounds. I had the phone to close to it for the recording. About half way thru, you will hear a major difference.

For a budget build this system sounds pretty damn good.

Spent most of the weekend working on the boat.
Built a PVC structure to support the boat cover, very happy with it. Remember the flag pole I installed.. well 1/2 PVC fits in it pretty good.
Replaced the drive oil reservoir. The bottom of it where the sensor leads come out, was leaking.
Spent many many hours with the buffer and wax..
