OK heres the deal. Finished paying off the boat. So I get a pink slip for the trailor but not for the boat. Trailor registered in CA. boat registered in AZ. When they did the loan the lender is stating they did not get tiltle so they secured a UCC with the state on the trailer to secure loan. Lender states thats how their boat loans worked back in the day. They say I have to secure the title myself or provide a bill of sale to next owner and let them deal with it. i have no intentions of selling the boat but after a long ass loan I want a pink slip for the boat. Am I missing something here. Anybody else have this experience?:hmm

This is true. When I bought my Shockwave the boat was registered in AZ and the trailer CA. I brought the bill of sale, the boat registration and the trailer title to the CA DMV and had no problem registering both boat and trailer.

Registration is your title in AZ. When I sold my Hawaiian signed and dated the back of registration where it says "Release of ownership of watercraft". And it was a done deal. Doesn't even require a notary.

You have to be shitting me... I've been looking everywhere for my boat title (AZ Registration). Listed it for sale weeks ago and blew off a bunch of people because I could not find my boat title. I have the trailer title. So in AZ I just write up a bill of sale?

This thread may have saved me hours of searching..... again. :thumbsup

No boat titles in az, just registration done through Game and Fish. Trailers are titled in both states.

Trailers in Az have titles, boats have a registration card that does NOT have to be notarized.

AZ Game and Fish regulates boats, not the DMV/MVD like in CA. The registration/certificate of number has a line on it to sign for release/sale. Its a good idea to also use a bill of sale but I've done it without before. The reg/certificate of number is the proof of ownership.

When buying a used boat in AZ you should check the UCC webiste for record of lien. The Reg/CON will not show a lien holder even if the boat has a loan on it

The UCC website should show the lien satisfied. It will take some digging but I did it on my Ultra when I paid it off.

MVD will not transfer the trailer title without a notary or verification in person with an MVD agent. :thumbsup

I wish CA was like this. AZ is so much easier to deal with. No waiting on hold, no having to set an appt weeks in advance and/or waiting in a 3 hour line.

Plus boat registration is $35 compared to the $350 plus I use to have to pay in Ca. :thumbsup I just bought my daughter a Honda civic for $3000 and registration was only $26, they don't base it off the price you pay for the car, just one more plus for Az :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup
