Driving home from one of my job sites in long beach, the smoke just engulfed the sky. I had been off the grid news
Wise all day, so I had no idea.

Good luck to all those affected.

Tomarrow the temps are suppose to be around 110, im afraid this will blow up big time. Lots of brush there that didnt burn in '09. Once it lit today it took off!!

I can see the glow from our home up in the high dez. Glad the smoke isnt going our way, sorry for the peeps who have to deal with it.

Why dont we have Super Scoopers?

...When I am at my place at Lake Oroville there is a super scooper that is docked there at times...
It in truth it is based out of Canada...If this fire goes really crazy they might send one down from Canada if nothing is available locally???...

Incident commander at the briefing this morning stated they still have 0% containment. Everything they tried failed. This is going to be a big one. Lots of old fuel beds that haven't burned for a long time. Can anyone remember the last time we had a good rain? We are in big trouble here in SoCal.

If the winds are still the same. it's still headed down little tujunga cyn. I am in the line of fire. it's headed straight for my house. Everything is covered in ash.
The only good thing. The mountains right behind us are super dry, but not much thick brush and trees.
Still has ways to go. Thank god, the santa Anna's are not blowing.
If the city was smart . They would keep water in Hanson dam for the fire months. Just a thought ?

From our kitchen window i can see the smoke plume, it changed direction last night due to some marine layer, looks like Barstow is getting hammered. I bet with the heat today this thing will become a monster.

I can see the head of the fire as i make us pancakes, gotta 1 year old grand daughter that loves grandpa's slap jacks.

Good luck to everyone involved in the fire, fingers crossed.

Wildlife Waystation is asking for help with evacuations. They need people with trailers to help.

The super scoopers are leased from Canada. I believe they usually arrive around August when Canadas fire season is over.

It got very smokey in the high desert around 3 am. Starting to clear out a bit near Littlerock . The wind is coming from the nw, blowing the fire down Tujunga canyon. If the fire crews can hang on till this afternoon, the wind is suppose to come out of the west around 3 pm and switching to wsw around 5 pm. The people in Tujunga cyn should be okay then. I imagine the high desert will get completely smoked out by then. This fire reminds me of the station fire. Gonna go for months most likely. Seemed like it took a long time for aircraft to get involved yesterday. Like about an hour or so. I am sure the fire dept has to follow some protocol. But in 110* heat, I would think call air support immediately, especially with the gusty winds. Stay safe to everyone in the path of where ever this fire goes.

Sky is orange-ish in Lomita, can slightly smell smoke but not bad.

Wife will be at the Greek theater tonight. Hopefully not too smoky up there.

NOOOO WAY MAN, they are planning on spending BIG money on building homes for the homeless and countless other horrible ideas. Ridiculous that we go thru this year after year and its always like an after thought by local gov't

Same in Valencia and very smokey over here. We were hoping to go to the local concerts in the park event tonight but have a feeling it will be cancelled due to the air quality.

Very sad indeed. Looking from our crib the smoke plume travels east and west along the mountains, no smoke yet in the AV.

Holding most of the tankers at San Bernardino now due to poor visibility. Copters still working where they can.

Wind shift up here in hi dez, now outta the southwest. Half an hour ago i spotted dual headers poking thru the smoke plume. Must be 50,000 feet high.

Socal is in a world of hurt. Probably all from a thrown cigarette.

Conditions now good for DC10. 20 mins. out

Live radio feed. Command and air attack. Kind of hectic right now. Starting to turn really ugly. Also picking up a working structure fire somewhere in LA with civilian injuries.

This fire is a living, breathing Beast, unable to be controlled.

Listening to scanner feed, its like being in a war zone. Last time i remember this kind of situation was in '09. Sad to think of the forest animals, they are helpless.
