So I am switching my high voltage tools over to Milwaukee, from Porter Cable. I picked up this M18 starter combo from Home Depot on sale. It’s not Fuel gear, but for my purposes that is fine.

I checked with our resident Home Depot overlord and he proclaimed it a very good deal for $599, so I pulled the trigger.

I swapped from Dewalt to Milwaukee 3-4 years ago.

Zero regrets.
Picked up the 1/2“ Impact Fuel, on Labor day sale Home Depot with a 5ah battery for $279…
The fuel chainsaw, blew my mind, sold my stihl after using the battery one a few times.
I have a huge collection of Milwaukee.

The where the first to come up with lots of different battery sizes, an are typically the first out with a new tool.

M18s 12a, 9a, 5 5amps
M12s, 5a, 3a, and a couple 2a

Shit… one of my favorite tools is the M12 Dremel. Use that thing al the time…

I have never had a battery of tool failure. I am not a pro, just home owner with toys.

Very happy with my m12 stuff. The dremel and the cut off tool are both great.

That particular 1/2" impact is pretty gutless, it's definitely a good deal with all the batteries.
Just don't try the new compact brushless stuff before hand.....or you will be forever pissed at this best value purchase lol

Agreed. I already have the Hi torque Fuel 1/2” impact. That is the only m18 tool I have currently. That will stay in the garage.

The one in this kit will be the one I throw in the off road vehicle. It will be fine for removing tires and clutches in a pinch.

Hold on I almost forgot. My m12 sprayer is my favorite m12 tool

I feel like this is a loaded question yes View attachment 1276486
Good to know, that's the one the kit comes with. Its the older impact, my buddy was warning me it was gutless but he's a drama queen lol. If it does the job its all good! Wheel lug nuts only need to be so tight...
The issue is when you start trying to use them for bigger lugs, crank pulley bolts, etc

I’d guess pulling them off after a tire shop torqued the hell out of them could be an issue😬

I would expect anything under 200 ft lbs should be easy for this m18 brushed unit. For reference my current Porter Cable 1/2" impacts are also brushed and rated less than this and have never let me down.

For reference my m12 mini 1/2 in impact with the 6AH battery does 100-120 ft lbs but that is about it. It sucks with the small batteries though, you need to use the big ones.

Where it gets tough is trying to break stuff loose - I think they tighten better than they loosen.
I'm thinking LS engine crank bolt here.........

Small, promo batteries are a mistake IMO. All suppliers do it to hit price points. Makes a lot of the tools under-perform.

They make great tools I just am in too deep with Dewalt. Being a home garage hobby user I have never needed anything else.

I agree. I do however get a lot of use out of the smaller batteries in the M12 stuff. For a quick job they are great. Drilling a couple holes, cutting something with the cutoff wheel or using the dremel.

In the sprayer, I can empty the full 2 gallons and spray my entire property on a 2AH battery!

Small batteries are great for home owner type stuff. They lighten up the tool and keep them compact. With the m12 2 ah battery a was able to remove and install my 6 lug trailer tire with the fuel m12 3/8 impact. I toss a few of those smaller batteries in my bag. Great as a back up, excellent for the flashlight.

I change all my semi truck tires & brakes myself. Used to run a compressor with air impact. Damn thing weighs 35#’s. Killed my back. Bought this little gem & a torque wrench. LOVE IT!! Neighbors are happy too. Lol

Bought this same kit 2 years ago I believe on a Black Friday deal. Paid $399. The only thing I don’t use is the flashlight. It sucks. Everything else is fantastic and gets used consistently. Only thing I want to do is try a 6.0 or higher battery to see how that improves performance (if at all). 4.0’s are decent but they just don’t last super long for those all day projects

I have 1 8.0. It’s a beast, but won’t make the tool perform any “better”, it just runs for what seems like forever on one charge. Also surprisingly heavier.

My two current favorite M18 / M12 tools...

M12 Grease gun, super handy, so far zero mess. Can toss it into the truck and take it w/o needing to worry about having air.

M18 Fuel Sawzall, this gets weekly use around the house. it lives up to its name, from tree limb trimming, to tearing down shitty old metal patio furniture to fit in the trash bin, it saws all

Wish they made this in the M18 line.

It really is a great inflator.

I’ll be honest, I’ve cheaped out on things like the blower and just got the Ryobi version and a battery adapter. I use a Ryobi tire inflator with a battery adapter for Porter Cable (now Milwaukee) for the RZR. Cheap to replace when it brakes, they are $25 tools at Home Depot.

I don't need to replace my stuff yet, but damn that's tempting.

I run Bosch mostly, with some Makita and Milwaulkee corded tools. I admit I do have a Ryobi cordless grinder and a Ryobi little circular saw. They are surprisingly tough. Hard to pass up that combo deal. LOL

I used the heck out of the M12 rt angle die grinder. Wife even used it to refurb a cast skillet. M12 rocket light is cool.

I have this. I used it to blow leaves and dirt off my rug when camping, to clean off the top of the slides, and to get the campfire raging.

I have Milwaukee M18 stuff. It all works great. I need to get a new 1/2" Impact. I have an old style that is big, heavy, and worn out. I bought a battery converter and use the new style batteries on it.

Get the high torque. The regular was kinda disappointing

I was going to add onboard air like I’ve done to my other trucks, but I’m just gonna roll with the M18 inflator. It just seems so much easier…and I can’t believe how quickly that thing will inflate a tire.

As long as you don’t run 40” tires and air them down on bead locks to nothing. Or want to run air tools on the trail, or want to air up all 4 tires at the same time.

A York 210 powered OBA has its place for sure

Yeah I’m never going to zero psi, typically I’m around 15 psi off-road, and 30-ish psi on-road.

Based on what I’m reading I can easily add 15 psi to 4 tires within the 20 mins on/40 mins off duty cycle.

I have been looking at this. How well does it do trailer tires ?
It’s works great for lower pressure say up to 25/30 psi.
if you need to bump the pressure say from 28 to 40 on 1 tire it would do well. But say all 4 tires you’ll need 2 batteries

I had a drywall screw in my rear tire - work truck - every 2-3 days I would add some air, worked great! But that was just 1 tire

if you need a higher pressure I would go w/ m 18 pump
