This administration’s economic performance has been a clown car show, seemingly dictated by the daily impulse of one person. Now he’s blaming Powell. That, too, won’t end well.

I could be wrong but I don't seem to remember Trump campaigning to protect the stock market. I have personally traded and invested in the market many times over the years. I've made some money and lost some money, but the one thing that I have observed is that the large trading firms are the ones that control the market. They have computer algorithms that give them unfair advantage over retail traders like me. Move over Wall Street, it's Main Streets turn!

I checked some of my statements and have only lost a few hundred dollars since January. I'm perfectly fine with that because our country is now headed in in the right direction. The market will always adjust, no sense getting ourselves worked up.

If this admin does something, anything, to address the ticking time-bomb that is our national debt, I’ll be the biggest cheerleader. Hope they don’t squander the revenue from these tariffs. However, debt reduction has never been his MO.

Yeah, you are right. What they should have done was just come in, not touched a thing, and for sure not made any changes... because you know, everything was going so well...

Totally agree.

Trump promised to lower prices on day one for working folks.

Very easy metric to measure. 👍

$12.000 more a year to live over the past 4 years is the metric that counts for us.
Joe Biden, Man of the People.
Given how unequally horrible Biden was, that should be easily remedied as promised on day one.

Look forward the the numbers. 👍

Theres a lot of moving parts, but to ignore the indicators of economic health & confidence like the stock market is to abandon rational economic logic for...???

First we were 'sold' on the idea that privatizing pensions (q.v, Keough, 401k, etc.) was the answer to the SSA/OASDI distaste that conservatives held/hold. So, now that the dollar and the US markets are experiencing grave problems brought about by unexplained policies or clear forward paths we are being asked to sacrifice all that old sales pitch to embrace whatever the "???" above is.

Also, do not forget that pensions for public employees also invest primarily in the US Markets, some by their own strict rules to NOT invest in outside markets - yet another conservative position that is being abandoned in favor of those "???". So the charade precipitates a public pensions crisis as well.

All that uncertainty would NORMALLY be upsetting to conservatives, but the unexplained "???" lingers.

Keep in mind, also, that Congress is set to request yet another dosage that will add ANOTHER 6% to the deficit, even though there are those here who dare not mention it.

That being said, and kudos to you for having a rock solid portfolio, but you rarely see the stock market, bond market and value of the US dollar ALL heading in the wrong direction at the same time. Just sayn’.

Didn’t Trump ask for over $5 trillion to add to the debt?

I don't have a rock solid portfolio as you mentioned. If I did, I wouldn't be working. I'm just realistic and understand that as a country, continuing to kick the can down the road wasn't the answer. I'm perfectly fine with losing money as long as those losses come with successes in other areas of life.

rumor mill is India is in talks to sign a deal . LOI was given from US to India or visa verca

they might be the new trading partner to replace China

markets are gonna rebound and rebound pretty good once all these countries side with the US and sign the deals and should really takeoff once China
eventually signs a deal...

530 will you eat crow and give the man credit if he gets these more favorable trade deals signed ?
Absolutely.

We can look at the data, it will be objectively measurable.

Just as his tariffs in his first term hurt trade and made trade deficits larger, we can see if it works this time.

Who knows, maybe history is wrong.

The question really is; will the Trump Army in here look at the data objectively, or make up subjective BS about how this is really better despite the data?

You could live elsewhere and spend the extra $5K on a snowblower, winter gear, and whatever it costs to have your car rot out from under you in 5 years. @napanutt will learn this soon if he hasn't already....lol
Less than a thou for the blower. Brought plenty of rarely used winter gear with us. Only one out of three vehicles has even driven in the snow.
The no sales or income tax here is a nice raise. 😁

It's not the snow, it's the salt that does it. Make it a habit to run the vehicle through a decent wash with the underspray and there's not much more you can do. Well, maybe some tru-coat.

No

I am defending your right, my right, and the right of even my enemies in this country to due process under the law.

If the guy is actually who you say he is, it should be easy to prove in court. A slam dunk. Then deport him to wherever the courts deem he can be deported.

But once we all give up the right to our constitutional protections as you seem to support, we might as well just fold up our Republic and be serfs.

I get you are fine with that. You need no rights under the constitution as you put your life in the hands of your man. But I’m not a believer in government like you, nor that we should give up our constitutional rights to one man.

Lol

You obviously neither understand nor respect the constitution as written.

May it be at your own peril. But not at those who have read and respect it including the Reagan appointed judge I have quoted from this case.

Say it with all of us, you believe the executive branch of the government without question, and you are happy to surrender your individual freedoms to them.

And there is the rub.

You should read it and note the words.

For example the fifth amendment providing due process. It starts as follows:

“No person”

The constitution is for US citizens 😉
No it is not.

The Constitution doesn't apply to "citizens," nor does it even apply to "people." It applies to the government. It tells the government what it can and can't do (the body tells the government what it can do, and the Bill of rights tells it what it can't do).

It doesn’t discriminate between citizens and non-citizens as it protects all people from the government.

I accept you wish to give up those protections as you view the government as the solution. I do not wish to give those protections up and understand if individuals like yourself are allowed to relinquish such rights back to the government, I too shall lose them.

How many of the 3 million deportees that Obama deported had trials?

Due Process... Oh you mean like the hearings he has already had with the orders already granted for his removal. So what is so special this time about your MS-13 buddy that you believe he is entitled to more due process than anybody else?
