Just got back a few days ago from a pretty awesome trip out to Orlando, Florida.

We won the 2025 award for the #1 Commercial Tile Project in North America for completing the tile in the new Clippers Intuit Dome!

We won this award a few years back for our tile installation in SoFi Stadium as well as The Thousand Oaks Mall in 2008.

Quick little story about my family and I with Premier Tile. I've been around tile my whole life. My Grandpa was a tile man. My Dad got into tile back in the 80's. My Dad and Godfather started Premier Tile in 1993. My godfather retired in the early 2000's. Since then, my Dad has grown Premier Tile to be the largest Commercial Tile Company on the West Coast. My brother and I both worked for the company during summer vacations when we were in high school. When I got out of High School, I wanted to be an underwater welder. Even started getting welding certs. I was working in the tile field when I was 18 and got MRSA (like a bad staff infection). It was going to take me a few weeks to recover. During that time, I went into the office to keep working and never left. I've been estimating and project managing for 20 years now. My Mom comes into the office a few days each week to take care of miscellaneous items for the company. I was never in the tile union, but my brother busted his ass and journeyed out years back. After that, he's been in the office estimating and project managing projects as well. We have 3 other estimator/project managers that do an outstanding job for the company. My Dad is an incredible business man. Down the road, If my brother and I can be half the business man he is, our company will be alright.
The Clippers Intuit Dome took me a month to estimate, create spreadsheets, triple check myself and submit my proposal. Once contracted, the real fun began with placing orders for the 100 different types of tiles, shop drawings, shipping, storage, and locking in the needed setting materials and transition metals. Even after the contract was completed, the owner & architect kept adding more and more tile to many different areas throughout the arena. For over 2 years, I was constantly going through new drawings and comparing to old drawings to make sure I priced the added tile. We started working on this project in September of 2022 and finished in July of 2024. Our Foreman Luciano ran Intuit Dome as well as Sofi Stadium. He pays close attention to detail/plans. Gets along with our installers as well as all the other trades. Makes sure our installations are within Industry Standards. By doing this, enables him to install and complete the best tile projects in The United States of America (And quite possibly around the WORLD!). This project either took a few years off my life or maybe added a couple more. Either way, I'm on the hunt for the next project that will be remembered forever.

Few Pictures of the Award Ceremony last Thursday. Starting from the left: Jeremy with NTCA, Myself, Foreman Luciano, Father Greg, Brother Gregory.

Here is a video that was put together by the NTCA for our award.

Our award was accidently sent to the Tile contractor that was awarded for a residential project. We're sending our awards to each other and should receive them by next week. It will look just like the award that we received for SoFi Stadium a few years back.

And for anyone that didn't see the award video for SoFi Stadium years back...Enjoy!

After the awards, we took our family to Disney World to let the kids have the time of their lives!

Congrats!!! I saw the pictures of the million dollar condos in Mammoth at The Limelight that your company is doing. Another great project for Premier. 👍

Awesome Job!! The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks is a few miles from me. Crazy to think you did all of that work back in 2008!

Awesome! As a Clips fan I think the new facility is the best in the world for basketball games. I know Ballmer wanted the best and you guys came thru on your portion.

Congrats to all of you

Thanks for sharing the history of your family owned business. Its climb to success, produced by the dedication, skills, and hard work of the principals, is a classic American story. You're a key part of that, and I tip my hat to you.

Great job, can't even imagine trusting your work to estimate, one wrong decision and the company loses money.

This story is rad, hard work makes the American dream happen.👍🏻
The thought of bidding a job like that as a GC gives me massive anxiety.

I gotta ask, what was the final total for your contract and change orders?
Did they tell you any of the other bidders numbers after contract? Lately when I get requests for bids I ask that if we are not chosen for the work that I can see competitor bids. Some agree some don’t, but it’s cool to see.

That's a Huge project to bid. Congratulations on Getting It!

Yeah my question would be what was the change order percentage compared to the original contract. Throws a huge wrench in the schedule with change orders on a project of that size and the time line.

That’s incredible. For a curious mind what does a job of that caliber run? How many crew to complete the project etc?

I know the feeling. I did my own backsplash once and my wife gave me a reward... I mean Award.

Congrats.
I thought you were calling me and had to read your post twice just to make sure. 🤣👍

Congrats that’s a hell if an undertaking. To pull it off is remarkable. To be recognized as the best is icing on the cake.

The moving parts had to be insane

That is an awesome achievement for any company let alone a family run business....huge undertaking to say the least!

The company I work for provided about 95% of all the ceiling work at Intuit. My coworker worked with the architects for 2.5 years on selecting and specifying about 13 different ceilings scopes. Once it went out to bid, I worked with the bidding contractors to get the project sold and then project managed it throughout the whole process to completion. My experience was the same as yours, with contract changes, drawing addendums, product delivery schedules, it was a total nightmare for about 1.5 years after I was awarded the contract. The bonus for me, unlike you, me or my family did not have to deal with the financials, that must have been rough road for your company.

I’m sure the MEP trades loved the different types of ceilings on how they would set their finish grills, lights, fire sprinklers..🤔😀

The financial part is fun. I had a sub customer that carried 18 million in retention on their balance sheet for over a year on a certain project. Takes a large line credit to run a large project company. Now you’re not only bidding project cost but carrying cost until paid.

Starting to work on the Tub of Fools next week. SB2 for Crackerbox is getting built now.

We always had 45 guys on site. At Times, 60 guys when they gave us many areas at 1 time

Around 25% added scope on top of our contract

We always ask the GC for our competitors #'s, but we didn't get that info on this one. It's hit or miss if they want to share those #'s. Mostly just to make sure we aren't dirt cheap (missed something) or too expensive.

Congrats!!! I saw the pictures of the million dollar condos in Mammoth at The Limelight that your company is doing. Another great project for Premier. 👍
Thank You! Been a good job so far. Can't wait to run up there and check that job out soon!

Oh Ya, you know the mass amounts of changes that took place then! You guys supplied some AWESOME products out there! In those clubs, the installers up top were practically running over our guys setting the floor! Ha! We would install one side and the ceiling was going in on the other. Then switch sides!

Are these installers subs or employees?
Our shop is Union. We call down to the hall and they provide us with the needed finishers and installers. Then they become Premier Tile Employees.

So not only do we deal with the tile scope of work....we gotta deal with the Union 😅
