What is the average speed? I feel like we may be one of the slower boats.
I’d say the average speed is 50-60 prob. There was a pontoon last year that kept up no prob. It’s not a race there’s numerous stops to catch up and hangout etc. don’t get me wrong there are stretches that people open it up but I wouldn’t worry about speed.

..ish.

There’s a couple stop and float stops along the way, you’ll catch up…just come out, it was incredible last year.

Thanks guys! We will probably be under 65 as the boat likes to chine walk after that and it’s pretty maxed out there anyways. Very excited to go! We are just going to leave from the needles house in the morning.

It was probably my favorite day of boating the entire year last year.. flat tire and all. The water is much cleaner and clearer in the coves than Havasu. Running up through the gorge (or whatever they call it on lake Mojave) was simply epic.

Relax. Nobody wants to tow through ghetto ass Bullhead on a regular basis to get to your precious lake.

I’d absolutely boat there more if I knew the upper part a little better, but I’m at the knowledge level that I still need to follow somebody 😂

I had a picture of my ex freaking the fuck out on the way back across the basin last year in the big water. Thankfully I upgraded that too.

I’d prefer to come back with my lower unit still attached to the boat. There were for sure some shallow spots up close to the dam.

If I had simrad still I’d just follow the GPS track from last year, and go on my own more often.. but my shit is too old for that. 😂😂

Interesting did not realize that there are areas of concern. I don’t think that anyone had ever brought up that point.

Water is so clear it looks shallow.

Well it's good to know I have the basin and also Bullhead protecting my precious boating area.

If you want to know where the shallow spots are, you could always follow @FROGMAN524. He's got some experience up there with that.

Realistically it's a lot deeper than it looks because the water is so clear. My rule of thumb has been to drive on the dark smooth stuff. Light areas or areas where there are ripples/bumps in the water are the shallow spots.

Staying on plane and trimmed up helps too

Ok yeah that makes perfect sense. I commented on how much better the water is up there than our mud bowl down here.

I’d certainly boat on it more if we lived up there. It was a great experience and I’m looking forward to our once a year trip for the run again this year. 😛

Makes Havasu feel tiny.

Here’s a pic or two for those on the fence about the run.

So you're saying the "Coast Guard" (who also patrols inland waterways) is monitoring this website and literally threatened you? For what?
And what did the threaten to do?

I mean, this gathering of friends isn't until August. So, at this time, there is no need for permits or insurance. Especially for a non sanctioned event that doesn't require them anyway.

I really can't understand how, we as a society, have gotten so pussified that hall monitors in Government don't have anything better to do than harass recreational boaters. Lame.

No permits can lead to fines if you are putting on an actual event..

Things that qualify as an event
T shirts
Registration
Schedule
Start and end point

Or so, I’ve been told, but I’ve never actually found an official list of what qualifies an event versus a get together..

I have a great story about the OP6C we put on in havasu.. 20+ years ago.

There’s a ton of us anchored up and rafted up in a cove.. and the coast guard comes up (ironically enough) to me and says we are looking for RiverDave..

I said “you just missed him by like one minute, he’s in a deck boat and headed that way”. So they take off and I untie my shit and leave..

Monday I get a call at my office. “Dave? We know…”. 😳

Basically told me my days of putting shit on, on the water without permits were over.”

Ever since then I play it by the book. With the exception of the Trump parades.. but as I explained to them with regard to those they were happening all over the country and it wasn’t just here and if they had that big of an issue with it, they could take it out with the incoming president because I happen to know he watched the video of the last one.. and called Kari Lake to say thank you.

I see me lol.

It’s not bad. Stay on plane trim up a little. You won’t hit anything.

I didn’t even know there was a shallow part? I’ve been to the dam 6-7 times? When you get close to the dam there’s a couple but you can see them clearly.

All I know is last year was epic aside from struggling to drive home. I forget what we had first thing Sunday morning but we didn’t stay Saturday night in havasu after the run lol. I need to get someone to transport my boat to Laughlin then tow it back when I’m done with it 😂😂

I’d help you out but it might take a few weeks to get to and from and a few hours on your boat as well while I transport it back and forth, to and from, here and there. But don’t you worry it will be clean each time I let you see it. 😁
