Let me just say I’m only halfway serious.

I bet if I could get my fat ass up on a board, I’d probably love the shit out of wake surfing, and so would my kids.
Dude anyone can do it that’s why it’s so popular. Get up stand on board do hang loose sign post on intagram drink white claw throw empty can in water repeat. It’s fun for the whole family.

I actually have two friends that own Paragon’s. First off, I can’t believe what they spent on those boats, they are really nice though. Down to the jewelry drawer for your Rolex and tennis bracelet. They literally remind me of a top of the line Escalade. Second, do you know how many cool boats I can buy for 450k? That’s ridiculous to me.

A couple years ago Pavati was at the Havasu boat show and I was walking around one. Guy told me I should jump in a have a look. I told him I know how much they cost and I feel guilty for even breathing on it. He insisted and said that’s literally why it’s there, for people to climb all over. Impressive how much technology is in those things, but I agree, half a mil is crazy.

Heading up river to Pirates I cringe having to jump one of their wakes. Full bags running thru that narrow stretch 🖕🖕

… And so I stick by the joy of having Lake Oroville pretty much to myself during the week…for 21 years… no bag boats until the weekend… so I simply did not boat on the weekends🤷🏽‍♀️..:

It’s funny out west that everyone pisses and moans about the wake boats, but don’t say anything about to 40-50 foot fkn CC’s that are way worse.
I'm not sure what a "40-50 foot fkn CC" is but their is only one type of boat that is 100% built/designed to put out as big of a wake as possible.
And I can "fkn" say "fk" the selfishness of those boat owners who destroy the water for everyone else.

LOL…..

When you say “everyone”, who are you referring to? What demographic of boater or waterway user?

Everyone! Hence the reason that wake surfing has already been banned in multiple states across the US.
The self entitled look the other way and don't give a shit about the consequences to other boaters attitude goes against everything that I was taught as a kid.

Assuming that “kid” was roughly 60 years ago?

Just assuming the facts!? Maybe she’s 23 years old and shredding the water daily or at least regularly behind a ski race boat on some carbon version of a Maha ski!

People that drive these have absolutely zero respect...

My son was out on G wagon (paragon) Nautique last couple days.. my friends came in for the regatta.

They wore him out. lol. He’s still learning to surf, but he loved every minute of it.

I suspect a board sports boat is in my future at some point.

Not all Natique are not surfboard boats. I have a 1997 ski Natique. I have 2300 hour on it and still solid just like new. all I’ve done is general maintenance for 28 years. still running strong. I saw them on Friday went in to check it out. I got all kinds of free stuff gave us dinner on Friday night dinner on Saturday. Heading to Mother’s Day brunch this morning. All free. Yes I really don’t like surfboard boats, but I do surf also sometimes. Water skis my game. at 69 years young, I wanna continue to do it till I die. A lot of different boats out there for a lot of different fun times. Hell I can’t even take my thousand 1000 hp blown gas flap bottom to Parker anymore.

I say this to myself all the time. With young kids they’re getting the itch for watersports. Debating on buying and older tige to keep in so cal for local lakes.

Not to derail this awesome thread, (but I will), there is hope on the horizon. My boys and their friends are not into wake surfing. They have gotten in foil boarding. This can be done behind any boat with a tow in and the objective is to self propel with pumping. They have taken this to not even using a boat at all and running off a dock to get going. Currently the kids that know how to sail can use an inflatable wing to get to where they need to go. It is awesome to watch. When they surf they go to the ocean...

There will never be enough of them here to bitch about and the tractors throw a much heavier wake it seems. We gotta bitch about something

Here is what is funny. There is a very noticeable different level of respect I get on the water whether I’m in the Malibu wakeboarding with the kids or we are in the Hallet 270.
If I’m with the kids in the wakeboat we get flipped off, frowned on, passed by 2 feet off the port side by someone racing by. If I’m in the Hallet 270 I get waved at, room made for us pulling up on a beach and treated completely different. I’ve been boating on Havasu for 50+ years. The discrimination is real LOL. I totally get it though

Do they inherently make gigantic wakes (I get that they’re surf boats)? Or is it guys that commute(?) to their surf spots with the ballast tanks full?

I bought a boat with a tower for this reason. After failing the mussel inspection every time. I brought it to Parker. My Cobra just sat as we used it so much. Lost my storage for it and sold it.

Considering trying again. If I could pay for decontamination and then get a tag it would be a go. Loading up everyone and getting denied over a drop is bull shit.

I think the mindset in general is that wakeboats are considered entry level boats with new to boating drivers who don’t know or understand boating etiquette. To some extent I believe that’s true. I don’t wake surf in the middle of the lake or in a busy area. It’s in a secluded spot so as not to be a menace to other boaters. I don’t go on the river in the middle doing 30 mph either. That’s like some dick going 55mph in the fast lane on the freeway. It’s just the way it is and some new boaters have no clue. It takes about 10 minutes to fill all the ballast tanks to wakesurf. So some people don’t want to completely empty them when they are done because it takes time to fill them again. Also the boat will ride better with some ballast. Wakeboard boats ride like shit they have one specific purpose and that is to displace water to make a big wake for wakeboarding/surfing or water skiing and that’s about it. The kids love it. I tolerate it 😝
