Damn searchlight strikes again. Cop said I was doing 81 in a 45 construction zone. Last sign I saw said 65. Apparently the tickets 30+ over and in construction zones are a criminal offense and I’m supposed to appear in court for it.
Anybody know a good lawyer for traffic tickets in searchlight? FML.,🤦

Odds I can get an attorney to get this down to a parking ticket or non moving violation? In Washington state, you can hire a lawyer who will just make these things disappear. I’m hoping Nevada has the same kind of Houdini.

Please tell us you don't have a CDL...
I don't know about the Nevada areas, but it seems like you can find just about anything in Vegas. Fire up the Google machine and see what comes up.

If I remember correctly he has a different type of a commercial license but I don't think this will affect that, at least I hope not.

You would be in luck. Nevada is pretty similar to Washington in getting tickets turned into small BS tickets especially for people outta state. Lots of lawyers/firms advertise for it.

A traffic attorney can’t do anything that you already can on your own.

My ex wife got a ticket similar to that in the exact area as yours, and they kicked it down to some bullshit non-mover.

Not sure about Searchlight, but I use Craig P Kenny for all of my ticket needs. It would be worth a call to his firm to see if he can cover that area.

Haven't had a moving violation since 2004. Plenty or "parking tickets" after 2004 though.

Don't fuck around in Searchlight as far as speed goes.

I've used CPK for all of our ticket needs as well. Not really for me, but my wife for a time probably kept him in business.

Just show up for the arraignment and speak to the DA. They almost always reduce violations to save from a court date and making the officer show up, which he has to do, that whole face your accuser deal.

Funny I was speaking to my Uber driver about this on my way DIA to LAX this morning. My record is 5 - 0 when fighting traffic tickets. I’ve gone to the mat on every single one of them.

No, my licenses are for planes. This won’t affect that, but it would affect getting hired if I wasn’t already employed. I still don’t want it on my record.

Showing up is probably going to be my biggest inconvenience. The guy told me I have to wait 4 weeks for the ticket to process, then call the number. wtf? How can anything take 4 weeks to process.
What officer got you?
Perkins.
That sounds terrible..

Adrenaline is looking to get to the bottom of your 9 month trailer deposit deal fyi

That’s funny because Wayne resolved it a while back. I had the trailer for supercat fest.

I thought everyone on Planet Earth knew speeding through Searchlight will result in a conversation with a cop
I’ve made this drive a million times and definitely know this. I was in a rental car this time and I guess I wasn’t paying attention. I did not feel like I was going that fast. Oh well. Life’s lessons are usually expensive..

@MeCasa16 , cool, I can understand not wanting it on the record (as a person that at 20yo was paying 200$ a month for liability only 🤣 ) I'm just happy it shouldn't effect your livelihood.

After driving through Searchlight for over 24 years on almost a weekly basis and actually knowing a few of the Metro and NHP guys that work that area I would NEVER suggest ANYONE going over 5mph outside of Searchlight or 1-2 MPH within the city. They are a ZERO tolerance city. I included a site that gives you a lot of info and may be able to help you. Within the Searchlight boundaries including construction zones like on the 95 area around Searchlight I would highly suggest NEVER going over 5mph of posted even though everyone else is speeding. Just not worth the headache. Here is the site that may help you.

So you occasionally get an envelope with a stack of business cards in the mail too.

The last 2 were for the wife, I drive like an old man.

My last ticket was Boulder City for a cracked windshield. Yet another place not to be messing around in.

I got popped for 107 coming out of Victorville going back to Vegas from Laguna back in 2007. Had just met my now wife and we took her car, Bright blue 2 door infinity with the license BLUBYU. Thought for sure I was goin to jail, cop came up laughing and was pretty cool. His advice, DO NOT go to the court hearing, have your attorney go, that judge is brutal. I took his advice lol.

81 in a construction zone in searchlight I would probably use similar caution

Nailed it.

On my biweekly trips through searchlight I’ve noticed lately a lot of fools getting lit up for accelerating too early heading south out of town.
Plus the usual “fish in a barrel” citations being issued in town.
When it says 65 mph down from 70, they mean it.
When it says 50 mph, they are not kidding.
When it says 25 mph, they are not kidding.
Almost every trip through there when I slow down to the posted limits people pass me.
Almost everytime they get lit up right in front of me.
I laugh every time.

My brother!

106 for me. (6 years ago).
CHP was more interested in the car than my violation. It wasn’t a big deal to him.
I went to court in Barstow in front of (presumably) the hanging judge.
No big deal.

Exactly. I drive through Searchlight once or twice a year and set my cruise control to the posted speed limit going through town. Gila Bend, AZ is the same, zero tolerance.

My attorney prolonged it for like a year, and eventually got it dismissed. I think it cost me a grand tho, worth every penny I never stepped foot in the court.

One of my buddies lived in Searchlight, we used his place as a crash pad for boating out of Cottonwood. I also would go there to ride dirtbikes during the winter.

One time I was pulling into Searchlight, and where is house was I could turn off on a side street before the main part of town. As I was pulling into a side street there was a metro doing radar on that street. I saw the radar go up and was like damn what an asshole move. The reason I say it's an asshole move, well he was in an all white lifted F150.

The other thing that cracked me up about Searchlight residents, is when they occasionally have the dummy cop car in the median. The locals would put a pack of donuts and a cup of coffee on the roof of the dummy car. It's Searchlight, not like there's much to do.

Other fact, that's where Harry Reid was from, the whole town hates him.

When I moved to Havasu in 2019 Milkmoney Dave gave me a ride to Vegas to catch a flight.
When we drove through searchlight he told me very seriously “do not ever speed through here, you will get cited every time”.
THAT was good advice!

Another thing to keep in mind when going back and forth from Vegas to the River is Boulder City on the 95 basically goes to the Nelson's Landing turn off. I've seen BCPD patrol that area as well.

Ouch. Too bad you weren’t in maricopa county, they don’t care! I drive 7-10 over and get passed like I’m going backwards by just about everyone on these freeways.

I’ve been rolled twice on the way up to the scales for training, when I had my all white charger. No joke, I was 5 over.. because searchlight. They were cool and legit didn’t see the star on the door both times, but thanked me for being at a reasonable speed. I asked why they’re so heavy handed (thinking professionally it would be from terrible speed related accidents) and he just shrugged and laughed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

My fine was $950
That’s the minimum for a CA criminal speeding charge. (100+ MPH)
There were 2 other people there with the same charge. We all got the same fine but their license suspension differed as they were CA license.
He suspended my AZ license for one week in CA only, said he had no authority to suspend it other than in CA.
No points as it was an AZ license. No mention of it on my insurance ever.
All in all pretty painless.

I’m 64 this year. I no longer speed much.
My commute is 755 miles each way every couple weeks. I set the cruise and put on a podcast.
In all my years I’ve never hired an attorney for any vehicle violations, including my dui 25 years ago.
The only benifit of an attorney would be an outright dismissal to keep it off your record, like yours did.
Cost wise it’s more to hire an attorney, and most times they do not lower the penalties at all.

I saw the trooper up by the gas station at the laughlin turn off sitting by himself so guess he wasn't fast enough to catch the Vette

Yeah.
Skinny old guy.
He was pissed at me because he said “you’re old enough to know better”…
He lectured all of us about “endangering my family on my CA highways”…
The first 2 criminal speeders were younger.
A guy and a girl. When he levied the fines he gave them payment options which they agreed to, like 3 payments or whatever.
When he asked me how I wanted to pay I said “immediately” and pulled out my checkbook.
That brought some laughs in the courtroom.
I never noticed it before, but that is the same courtroom in “Erin Brockovich”.

I refuse to take the Nevada side when going to Havasu from Vegas, go through Kingman and set the cruise at 20 over with no worries. NHP in rural areas thing they are fighting crime with speeders, same thing on I80. NHP can suck my balls

That’s Baxter. Cool as shit outside the courtroom, but he’s a bit of a hard ass when he’s got the robe on.

Did he make you look at his “book of death”?

We’d sometimes contribute to it.

Try Hwy 50 sometime…that’ll make you a believer!!
Those guys call ahead from town to town.
After my third pullover on the same day in Austin I asked the trooper if I could just get a stamp instead of having to keep signing these bullshit tickets. (Seatbelt: lie. 7 mph over in a 25: lie. Erratic lane change: lie) Everyone is an out of towner and no one is coming back to fight a $100 ticket and they know it.

Oh yeah, he made all 3 of us look at the book separately and the bailiff made sure we turned every page.

I’ve seen people cry over that fucking thing.

I’ve also seen someone laugh while they looked at it, and he absolutely lost his shit and amended the sentence to a 30 day suspension.

I used to show those type of pics to Val and Jeffry when they were driving age. They thought it was a big joke.
I’m old, when I was in school they showed us “mechanized death” in the classroom.

I was just outside of Elko on I80, I was running 1/4 mile behind a gal in an Accord doing 85 for the last 30 miles or so and out of the corner of my eye there's a NHP crossing the median to get the Accord. The median was a good 200 yards and this dude was blasting across, no crossover, sagebrush flying over his hood just to get this gal at 10 over. He gets to my side right as I get there, I'm on the shoulder on the the right so he doesn't hit me when he enters our side of the freeway. I was laughing my ass off that he got her and not me, but pretty good of abuse to the NHP car to bomb across the median. Like something out of the movies. LOL

Me too!!

My little pipe dream / retirement goal is to get my JD, go make a fucking fortune doing traffic and DUI cases, then get a magistrate spot and just be the biggest asshole judge in all the land. 🤤

The amount of money these traffic attorneys make for the work involved, is insane. I figure with my knowledge, I’d be a hell of a traffic attorney. 😛😛

I was headed to Searchlight running 85, and saw NHP, he flew through the median and got next to me. Yelled at me to roll my window down and told me to slow the fuck down. Only time NHP never pulled me over.

I did witness a crotch rocket run from metro once. All I could do is laugh

On my Girls first week of employment in Henderson, she was driving back to Bullhead and got a speeding ticket. She was going 45 in a 25 MPH zone. She was so tired that she handed the cop her AZ ID instead of her CA DL. She had some explaining to do, but in the end he ended up writing her up for a non-moving violation speeding ticket. I am not sure how it was a non-moving violation but that's what she said.
