Went to Vegas with some friends that just bought property out here, had a fantastic dinner at the Circus Circus Steakhouse (which is awesome btw, totally unmolested old school vegas). Came out from dinner and my 2003 super clean Duramax, parked right next to Valet, in the fenced paid parking spots, had been broken into, Steering column covers popped off and they tried jamming something into the lock cylinder so my key wouldn't go in, can't start the truck. Had to have it towed home.....

Now i gotta figure out how to fix this thing without fucking it up worse. They also jammed the driver's door lock in, so it's floating inside the door now

I'm sorry to hear that. Clean truck too. How many miles on that LB7? Have you done injectors yet?

Sorry to hear that. I had the same exact thing happen to my 04 silverado. Was a pita. Locksmith had to save the day to get the key lock cylinder out.

Also leaving the gym yesterday I either saw someone successfully steal a nbs duramax ccsb or they were just a jackass. Blowing stop signs and going like 50mph in the grocery store parking lot.

Damn that sucks, same thing happened to my 05, tow truck driver that picked my truck up says that he averages about 2 to 3 a week , and that these trucks are in high demand in socal

The casino security told me the same thing here in Vegas. 👎👎 Now I'm gonna be scared to drive the thing anywhere... Gonna have to wire in the hidden kill switch it looks like 🤬

Scum bums!

Great choice on the steak house. Nearly the last of its kind and I believe scheduled for closure after possible sale of Circus Circus for the next future development.
Was told a couple of years ago about another old school steak house..... located at Southpoint Hotel & Casino....I haven't been, but on the list for early October!

I dislike the modern steakhouses because those places are echo chambers and it's nearly impossible to hear, let alone have an intimate date!

Fucked up. But atleast they did not get it. Otherwise you would be fighting insurance when they offered you 12k.

I just got in my old beater Tundra. Have to go to supply houses today and this one is not worth stealing I hope.

Switch to my work truck after lunch.

Had the same thing happen a few years ago on my '07 in Oklahoma on Thanksgiving night when bringing home the Ultra 4 we had just picked up that day in Missouri.

Hotel parking lot, came out in the morning to the door lock popped, door hanging open, and the ignition column busted up. Fuckers tried to steal the truck and trailer with the Ultra 4 on it. Would have been real bad if they got away with it all.

Had to tow it to the local GM dealer to have it fixed. Put the truck up on a flatbed and hooked the trailer with the Ultra 4 on it to the flatbed's tow ball. Kind of a project to get it all moved.

I wanted to "interrogate" some of the shitbags hanging around the hotel parking lot, including the overnight security guard. Guarantee someone knew something. Had the get the truck fixed and continue home though. Thieves need to be exterminated.

Side note: Why do people take pictures of their food?

My 04 silverado had the lock punched in and funnily enough, they just stole a toolbox under the back seat. All that was in it was hand tools for home repair stuff, not my mega mechanic related stuff. The damage was more than the theft. When I replaced the door handle, I went with one without the lock cylinder and instead relied totally on the remote. Never was an issue but only had it a few more years after that before getting my new at the time 2018.

Well, that fukn stinks, but at least you had a great steak and you'll have it fixed for next time they try it. I hate thieves. Prolly some of those doctors and lawyers that snuck in over the past few years :(

I hate fking thief's. Need to have their heads chopped off, would end them from reoffending.
I'm not much on Middle East culture, but they have it right. .
Get caught stealing, they cut your hand off.

FWIW - When in Vegas we stay at Trump’s place. All valet parking. Never had a problem. Food? Their $22 burger served poolside is excellent. Our Suburban stays in valet parking and we use Uber. Golden Steer steakhouse is also good. Sorry about your Duramax. F’n thieves.

They do that so you don’t hang around after your meal - no more food or drinks, no more to money to add to the tip. Get out and get the next order going.

I'm going with it being an inside job. Attendant advises the thiefs of a high in demand vehicle and makes some bank. That valet area should have camera coverage, no?
I have a 2005 2500HD 6.6 w/120K on the clock that I will never sell, and always worry that it will be stolen when shopping or visiting a metro area. I Keep it in the shop building and drive it to the ranch a couple of times a month and during winter storms.

I worry about this every single day. I bought the steel clamshell that goes around the entire steering column which is a bit of a PITA. But so far, it seems to help. Some shitbag will likely get inside the truck, but this bitch is going to take some time to get through. Fingers crossed!!

It adds a couple steps any time you get in and out of the truck (To put the steel bracket over the column shroud and throw the padlock in), but it adds some piece of mind. I also think having the giant shiny lock on top of the column acts as a visual deterrent.

I am guessing you are clever enough to rig up some sort of laser system to make them sorry! I think there was a guy in either England or Australia who rigged some voltage to his work van to protect his tools!

Don't fix the driver's door lock....just pull the door panel, disconnect the floppy stuff from the latch assembly, replace the actuator with a new OEM unit, and replace the door handle with a rear door handle without a lock cylinder hole in it....or not. The lock has been dangling around in my door for 5 years now, just make sure not close the door without the window all the up or all the way down when you're not inside the truck, because it jambs the linkage and then you might need to climb in from the other side.

The valet made a bigger tip from the thief to turn his head then you would have given him.

The valet was actually closed otherwise i would have used it. At the less frequented properties $20 on the way in and they will leave your car right in front. 🤙

Also get rid of the key locks on the doors and just go smooth with some kinda remote to open like the 90’s show trucks

This looks cleaner but will not stop them. The jackhole used a screwdriver and broke the entire door handle assy off of my truck. Denting rhe shit out of my door in the process. I now have a normal door handle with the lock installed. But with no rod to the door lock/ latch assembly. The last guy bailed when he broke the lock out the alarm sounded instead of disarming. When the lock is punched it falls unlocking the door while disarming the alarm. GM's major flaw in these trucks.

I can't rememberer if this was the exact distributor I purchased it from, but this is the same column lock I bought.

Happened to my 07. I replaced the front door with rear passenger handle (no key hole to punch back in) and ran a switch to my fuel pump relay that would turn off/on only if hit the “trunk open” button on my Viper alarm fob remote. The fob also alerted if anyone tripped the alarm or set it off. Range wasn’t the best, but better than nothing.

After having a door lock punched I no longer lock the doors on my truck and never leave any valuables inside. The door lock caused more damage and cost more to repair then anything I had in the truck.

This is why I keep my 05 in a locked garage as much as possible, only time the truck comes out is to pull the boat to the ramp.

88k miles on the lock and Id play hell trying to replace the truck if someone decided they liked the truck more than me.

I just woke up to a car alarm and then the chirp. Jumped on my camera and my truck and dump trailer still there. Left them on the street connected. Last week another contractor a few blocks from me had his big work truck stolen. Found in Gardena 2 hours later gutted. Around 30k in tools. Stolen at 615am. My truck 603am. I slept through my alarm last time and it will cost me over 35k to replace everything with new.
