Customer Service can Make or Break a company !

Send the bag and swap it out…. Not very hard to do

Making the customer fix a problem, Certainly reassures confidence in a company

I’d probably just return it for a refund !
The old adage.
A happy customer rarely says a word.

An unhappy one will tell the world.

"Let’s be real. The anchoring market was a mess—clunky designs, rusted hunks of metal, and instructions so confusing they may as well have been written in hieroglyphics. We decided enough was enough."

I've never seen an anchor with instructions.

Hahaha, no shit.
If you can't figure out an anchor, especially one like that, you should probably find another hobby because an accident or disaster is eminent in your future.

I did not until yesterday and that's when they started to delete all the comments I left on their social media. I actually texted Fernando telling him the claim was submitted and told him I still did not have the bag on April 29th. He originally told me, after I had to hound him about the shore hitch from the first emails that I would receive the hitch first then the bag would follow in a separate shipment. He left me on read and I never got the bag that I paid for. Like I said the last thing I want to do is bash a small business but when you pay for something, they take your money, and then you just straight up don't get what you paid for I think most people would be pissed... He was/is clearly blowing me off even after I gave him every chance.

Have you read the Speed thread by any chance?? 😁

I’m surprised no one in the other thread brought up the whole design-stealing-business-partner part of this venture. It was all the rage on Facebook when these things came out.

🍿
China already knocked off the Sandspike: $30 - Youre welcome 😂

Last summer I was hanging out with Ryan(slide anchor) at his mountain getaway and we had a discussion about how much his biz has suffered from knock-offs, predominantly on eBay, and asian clones in general that ignored any patents he had or still has.....and the fact Amzn & eBay did nothing to support him in that regard.
We all love saving some buck$ & all but hardly realize how it truly affects the inventors of these products when we purchase the knockoffs.

My dad still just uses a piece of rebar and a near by rock.
All things being equal it works the best LOL
Things were simpler in the good ole days.....
Nobody had a fanciest shore anchor competition!

I do like our Slide Anchor sand spike though.....never wished it would just be a piece of rebar and a rock :p

I just typed up a huge description and picture of what I'm still using after 20 years with the "New" boat and deleted it feeling it was off topic and didn't add to the pitch forks and hate.

Also as of the last two years I've weened off of Amazon and try my best to hunt down American alternatives, the cheaper cost and knockoff inferior products don't out weigh a quality product.

honestly interesting that he got nowhere with eBay....they've pulled a bunch of my listings simply because I had "Jeep" or "Nissan" as the first word in my title for parts that fit Jeeps and Nissans. I change it to "Fits: Jeep..." and that's OK. Some assholes as Stellantis and Nissan have nothing better to do with their day I guess, but it should be fairly easy to get eBay to pull down listings. Tell him to look into their VERO policies

Is there anything wrong with the original shore spike?
Didn't you read the ad? The whole mooring industry is in shambles! lol

My slide anchor has never done me wrong. Easy to use and works every time - plus I got mine and my bag shipped complete w/zero damage.

I'd rather pay extra to a local business than give to china
I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure slide anchor now makes their shore spike in China. I’ve got one that I bought in 2007, I bought my brother one in 2016 and they look very different, especially the rubber coated handles.

To my knowledge, when something gets offered from china that looks identical, it’s because it is. Company “x” subcontracts china factory to build say 10,000 pieces of product, china build 20,000 and then sells the other 10,000 under a different name for half the price.

I like my slide anchor. It works, it’s ugly, the bag broke after the second year, it’s heavy and my wife says it’s really heavy.

I love my Shore Hitch. It works everywhere I use it, it’s color matches my boat, it’s engraved, the bag still works great after one year, it’s lightweight and my wife says she loves it because it’s pretty and she can use it. Hell, my 10 and 12 year olds can use it properly.

Maybe I can get my wife or kids to show you guys how to use your Shore Hitch😂😂😂

I'd guess part of the issue was them changing the name/description similarly to how you did. I also believe he just came to terms with it all as I assume most if not all his patents have aged out.
.
I can tell you factually that the Corporate legal dept at bmwna was vigilant at finding & filing cease/desist orders to independent shops for use of bmw logos & other trademarked identification cues.

If you are using it in a cove or a beach they are fine.. if you use it in any kinda current they just fall over..

I really wanted to love this product. I love the looks of it, and how light it was. I can hold open the ski locker with my foot and reach down and grab it without having to sit on the floor. The slide anchor is much heavier and it becomes a bit tricky to do it. So that’s what sold me on this product at the boat show.

It took a few months to get it, but Fernando checked in with me constantly and ended up dropping it off at our havasu house. He also gave me a free bag. I mentioned that after the first use, it did hurt when you slammed it down or your hand would slide off and hit the bottom. He said they made these rubber cushion pads for the top of the handle. It didn’t help very much. It does hold if you have nice sand and aren’t in current. But, Robert is over using it. We tried all last summer, and now this summer we are back to the original slide anchor. Robert wants to bring it home and work on it in the garage to see if he can modify it so it’s useable.

Their customer service was great to us and Fernando was really nice. I really wish it worked out for our needs.

3 dunes, North side of channel, Pirates, everywhere my sand spike worked, my Shore Hitch works also. Honestly, I’m not arguing, I’m just stating facts from first hand experience. I removed my spike from my boat because I found a better product for me and mine!

We need to have a beer sometime soon Dave!

This is a wild thread over a $250.00 product and a missed bag lol. Move the fuck on.
Seriously, very wild... A $250 one time purchase product to throw in their $250k boat that takes $500 in fuel to drive up to Pirates and spend $700 on nachos and beer... priorities I guess. Hahaha. I guess Im in the minority on this, love mine, works great for me, and I will buy another one for my boat that is currently being built when it is finished.

Amazon is turning Chinazon at a rapid rate. I no longer use Amazon for Business these days because the items ordered are just jobsite go-backs.

Shit just ordering some wiper blades you have to go to page three to find a name brand.

Anytime on the beer.

I tried mine at the “new sandbar” deal awhile back (there’s a current there) and after about six/seven minutes of that I said fuck this and give me my slide anchor.. it just kept falling over and pulling out.

That’s why I wrote what I wrote above. Couple of guys saw that and mentioned they had the same issue.

It is what it is.. I’m kinda with SocalX09

I wanted to like it. I was kinda excited to use it.. love the fact it’s light weight and I could just get out of the boat without worrying about this heavy ass thing..

After seven minutes of whacking the fuck out of this thing, and trying to wedge it in at an angle to get it to hold etc I finally just gave up.

Should be noted I have a heavy ass 33.5’ boat though. Maybe smaller boats aren’t an issue for it.

I was actually at the point I was gonna machine a heavier weight for the hammer part of it, but I realized pretty quick that shaft is what is preventing it from going in the sand any further than it was.

But your shore spike didn't have an issue with that big ass heavy boat

Seems kinda like this is what you get when the item your trying to copy has no functional refinements left and you make something anyway and it worx out marginally. Good looking piece but maybe not so functional.

I got this one from West Marine many years ago.
I think it was $75
I like the 2 handles.
Can't read the brand on it.
I need to send it out and have it polished lol

.

I like that T handle at the top. Mainly because I think it would make me feel less like I'm jacking off a huge dick while pounding it in on the beach like I do with our normal slide sand spike.

No the slide anchor works fine..

Actually since we are in the subject a guy used to make like a 8-12 inch aluminum L and he welded a kinda triangle on the top at an angle with two rope holes in it..

You’d just push it into the sand or step on it and it would go into the sand.. because the rope was right at the sand level there was no leverage to pull it over..

I had one it worked awesome and it didn’t weigh anything.. it was remarkably cheap to like 30-40.00?

I loved that Damn thing but of course I let someone borrow it at the sandbar once and never got it back.

I don’t think the guy makes them anymore unfortunately..

He was selling them out of his boat when I bought it.

I think it was actually called a “shore spike” now that I think of it?

It was similar to this, but I guess they are 85.00 now which kinda defeats the purpose..

Albeit it is anodized and cool and aluminum so it doesn’t weigh anything

Sounds similar to what I use, it was in my Carrera when I bought it. It works great. Light and takes up no room. And the bungee style rope keep tention on the boat so the current don't bother it🤷‍♂️

For years I used a painted section of angle iron i drilled a hole in and attached a clevis. I cut the end like a wedge, but no top to it.

Now I use the top half of an anchor rod 20" long galvanized with the end ground to a point, and a 10 lb sledge. the wife made a heavy duty canvas bag I've carried that on the "new" boat for 20 years. every so often I hit the exposed end with paint to knock down any rust. Seems to hold along Parker pretty decent.

sadly, I didn’t get the Hey-Lam gene where I couldn’t live without another dudes last name laser engraved piece of aluminum L-metal that had a color similar to one of the boat I purchased so I can tag pics of said piece of metal on instagram photos, and maybe I’m missing out, but I’m $250 ahead of those who thought it necessity.

Slide Anchor is long enough. Can’t imagine a longer one. 280.00 for that. You’re out of your fucking mind. The shore spike is a beast. Bare bones design, heavy and a bad ass anchor. Shitty website and product.
