The only person who wants to go fast in a WTOB or deck boat is the driver!

Is this one of, if not the best value in the current boat market!? 100%!!

Reality is that the service/maintenance on the motors is a HUGE cost (somewhat masked by the sales price) for what the average speed that the boat really gets operated in.

All that to say, I think this is approaching a 100hr low cost of ownership area, that will give someone a bucket list ownership opportunity without losing their ass, as the biggest hit has been felt!

I look at the hrs Magoo pushed his to, and fully believe this boat pencils for someone! I’m a true tunnel closed bow guy, but this one is VERY tempting. I have tried to sort out in my head 10 times how to infill the windshield without it looking atrocious and maintaining good vision while not permanently damaging the existing windshield and not making the cost so high it moves the boat out of the realm of penciling.

Little bit more but this is perfect. 700s are pretty reliable from what I’ve heard.

Ok done dreaming. View attachment 1506104

I disagree with this. The crawl through deal sucks, and when that boat has an added 100hrs on it, I’m not sure the dollars make sense. The 1350 boat at 130(ish) hours in my mind is worth exactly what it is today, and outside of standard maintenance, you’re never going to hurt it because you’re never going to run it that hard.

He's not 6'3" and 300lbs. He can probably walk under the crawl through🤣

Good point. I’ll circle back to the 1350 M31 and put it in my wall paper.

Bad ass boat for sure. I would not want the walk through. Just make sure you are ready for the $2500 an hour minimum on operating costs all in at a minimum.

I have no dog in this fight as I am a poor man with champagne taste on a beer budget. But that boat is worth all the money and then some. It’s a different caliber for sure. I dream to own something like that one day but as Chris posted I’d be more into the 700s personally as I don’t care to go faster than 115-120 lol. The purchase price seems very reasonable I just couldn’t afford to maintain it properly lol.

A lot depends on your past boats. $20-$35K on this boat would be my guess. I have priced insurance on a couple larger slower boats with the same power. This small rocket it is could get really costly.

If I hit the lottery, there would be signs! This boat is THE BOAT. I would have designed it exactly like it is!

??

I have twin 1200s in mine and my operating costs are nowhere near that.
All in, Fuel, Maintence, Insuance, depreciation, rebuild schedule, propeller replacements. 1350's need valves gone through every 70 hours if I rememeber right, $6K in labor plus parts. Most need complete rebuilds around the 300' ish hours. I know Magoo has gotten a lot longer but most have not. $120K plus for a pair. Rebuild 8 drives/transmissions $40-$50K. Turbo rebuilds are 7K. I've considering going this route several times and still probably will in the future. These's are all costs that friends have shared with me that run 1350's. One friend that had a 1350/M31 for several years has said, his exact words, "If someone says they are running these for anything less than $3000 and hour they are lying." He does run his boats hard, I let him drive my 37 when it was brand new. Never got below 120 from getting on plane until we hit the springs. Told him I now know who to never buy a used boat from. :p

Infill the windshield? What do you mean?

Those numbers seem pretty inflated. Probably as inflated as the egos of people who are claiming them.

Unless something has catastrophically gone wrong, an engine rebuild will not cost $60K each.

You can buy a new M8 drive for $45K. Vern rebuilt my M6 drives when I got my boat for about $10K and one needed a new prop shaft.

Of course, if your friends are constantly running stupid hard as you seem to indicate and constantly breaking stuff, then their numbers might be realistic. I wouldn't say that's the case for normal use though.

Gary Teague once told me..."Run your boat like a normal person and your engines will last for quite some time. But race everything else out on the water and run it like a race boat, you can plan on maintaining it like one."

The boat in this post, if used properly and not all-race all the time, will not cost that much to operate.

And the red 41 sold for less that this 31 asking price a month ago….

So, this is a great thread, and for us dreaming folks, or me, who’s trying to make it pencil, let’s go a step farther…

M8’s with low hours, and 1350s with low hours…. Can a guy buy this, SELL the motors and drives, repower with 700s and 6s, and be money ahead!? We know there is reduction of operational costs doing that for sure! Can you pull that off, use for 100hrs and then sell with zero out of pocket at the end of 100hrs? Free boating!? What if you did it with 600s and Bravo based drives? FOR SURE cost reduction, will need some transom mods, still “fast”…. Does the 600 package resell lower than the cost of the refit? Y’all think I’m nuts, but there is some conversation to have here.

I have the older 1200 hundreds and that's no joke these boats are crazy maintenance. Never did ii think it would cost that much but cruising at 120 does put a smile on your face. That walk thru is my dream boat but those motors scare me.

Badass boat but if it has 1350's I would want a closed deck. This boat needs some 700's and it would sell quickly.

Right on, I’m sure your very descriptive reply is more accurate.

It probably is. Biggest thing is just have a friend that will rebuild a motor for you for free. ;)
