The new to us Dayton is so clean I dont think it has been beached. I am having a hard time thinking about beaching it.
Am I an asshole if I anchor nose in at places like 3 dunes and the channel? Just floating above the beach but not on it. LOL
I know its going to move some from side to side but we would through out the fenders.

Just tighten up the lines and it shouldn't move too much. I think most people would understand wanting to keep the boat super clean.

Tough to be an asshole leaving your boat 5' off the beach when a 40'+ center console might pull up next to you and still stick out 10' more than you 😂

I dunno, Lifes too short. Its very easy to fix beach rash once every few years. I have had some AMAZING floats and I just cant fathom anchoring every time. And I am one OCD dude. I just bite the bullet.

@ChrisV can chime in ;)

When I got my new to me Laveycraft, the gel had just been touched up and the keel was spotless...the first summer I had it, I would anchor off the shore...that got old real quick....now I don't power up the beach, I pull up to where the keel is just barely on the beach...98% of the time we are hanging out right at the back of the boat, so I just make adjustments to it if starts to float off...keel is still pretty clean and its been a few years now...

Yep. When we got our current boat it was delivered and it looked like
The keel had never seen a beach in its life. Absolutely perfect. But like other have said, fuck it. Enjoy it and fix it 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s actually holding up pretty good for all the beaching we’ve done this summer and last.

Or take a small piece of carpet laid on the beach. Just remember to take it home don't leave it there.

I could imagine me enjoying beers and watching someone pulling in and laying down carpet. Then the best part would be watching them rolling it up and throwing it back on their boat.
I have seen it before and I always think, sand has to be on the carpet now and now its just rubbing the sand between the gel and the carpet.

I ordered a keel guard for my Essex. I used to make every effort to not beach.

Fact is I am just past the hassle of retrieving the box anchor all the time.

Some have good luck nosing right up to just short of the beach and anchoring off the transom. See this at Emerald Cove all the time.
I may join in on this program also.

Only when the waves are 6 footers all weekend.

This is an old old old picture

I used to beach my boats, then one time at Mead with my Cheetah there must have been a nice rock just under the water that I didn't see when I pulled in. After sitting on that rock all day with the waves crashing it did quite a bit of damage to the keel.

I don’t beach my boats. I wouldn’t wash the bottom of my boat with a Brillo pad and that’s essentially what you’re doing when you beach it, in my opinion anyways.

I don’t mind people who do it. I just hate the feeling and sound of it when it’s done.

Beach that shit. I only anchor when I’m at Parker cause you really need too. There are consequences if you go to new beaches and don’t know if there’s rocks or sand.

Slide anchor in front and slide anchor in back if it's not sandy.

Honestly nose out or nose in don’t matter. Just do a line into the lake and a good tie on the front boat shouldn’t move much side to side.

Plus of anchoring nose in in shallow is you could swim off the back and use the swim step to sit on.

Nope! It gives the kids a place to play on the beach and keeps the boat nice!

We use two shore spikes with spankys 6ft ropes with small floating buoys and stainless clips. One in the front and one in the back.

Bahahahaaha Fricken Havasu Folk beaching their rides. The only thing that should be rammed up on the beach is my toon.

Beaches are sandy up here in Needles. Havasu is rocky.

On an anchor, always. The family boat has been on the beach at the Bluewater a couple times but I can count on one hand in 20 years.

Hell It sits on the "beach" in my boat slip being so shallow more than it ever does along the river.

And it goes without saying the flattie is always on an anchor bow out.

Thats a retired Gal that makes those for Spanky's. There is no better quality IMO and I have likely purchased 30+ over the last 7-8 years. If they made 1" I would buy them for the ocean boat as well. I support that place as much as possible.

Those look pretty sweet. I need to stop at Spankys next time in Parker. Never been!

I go in every time I go through town! Always find something I need shirt, hat something for the motorhome never know until I walk in what I’m looking for. All my ropes are from spankys and after five years my shoreline is a little faded but still in great shape and it gets abused. The little lines with the floats still look brand new.

I try to always anchor bow out with a stern line. It takes 4 mins tops.

Now with 2 little ones under 3 I am beaching more than I’d like. Oh well easy fix.

There are far worse marine supply houses thats for sure. Bought a nice ski vest and non stretch line some 3 years back for my Son's HS graduation. It wasn't overpriced IMO either.

Ok... I'll say it.

On a perfect sand beach like Pirates Cove or the sandy parts of Three Dunes when it is busy/pack..... yeah, I would think it would be a dick move.
When boats are 3-4 feet apart no anchor and sand spike could hold tight enough not to slam into someone or even crush someone walking or swimming between boats getting in and out of the water.

On a random Tuesday.... who cares.... you do you.

The only boat I did not like to beach was our Skater but on soft sand it was not an issue. I did drop an anchor off the stern in the channel once and HPD told me I had to pull it up.

Anchoring bow out with a stern line to a shore spike on the beach is how I like to do it.

Part of that comes from years with a 21 jetboat we’d just beach it all the time on Mohave. But Mohave is mostly sand. However beaching it, it would take waves over the stern. So bow out is better, even if you gotta get wet to get back in.

My only issue now is with the outdrive. Gotta raise it so it's not in the sand. But that brings that sharp ass cleaver prop up where its easier to hit yourself with it. I know to stay away from it but one of my passengers cut themselves on it once (one the leg). I felt so bad. Had to bandage them up. Now I don't want passengers.

With our Shockwave deck boat, we would beach only if the sand was soft. If it was rocky I would spike the front, box anchor the back and let it float (nose in). With the Hallett, I do the same program but we anchor nose out. We will beach in the Channel but choose to go to spots were there aren't boulders under water...lol.

Both my shore spikes go underwater no line to the shore. No rope or anything to get in the way and again leaves room for chairs and kids to play. Nose in because it’s a direct drive. Guess I’m a dick.
