Define 'WORK'.........as in digging trenches? Supervising a job site? Driving to the river? Footwear to wear at RoadRunner?

What is WORK to you?

When I was a wire running monkey I wore the georgia romeos. Comfy and easy to kick off in a customers house.

If your doing service, I'd look into keens, they're really comfortable durable and double as a desert boot . I wear red wings but I'm on a construction site all day. If I was doing service I'd be wearing my keens hands down

For that type of work is it required to wear work boots for protection? Otherwise I'm also on my feet all day, and I perfer to wear a good pair of running shoe's... Big time support and cushion, works best for me.:thumbsup

If you go to a Red Wing store they will ask you what kind of work you do and then reccomend boots that others in the trade use. Really I was surprised at what they thought to ask that makes the differance in areas like what material the soles are made of.:thumbsup

What are you looking for? Protection? Durability? Something that will last?

I had a job years back that required steel toes, Red Wings seemed to be the most popular. I wore Docs without steel toes and noone ever checked. I love Docs, they are just comfortable.

At my shop now, I'm on my feet all day. I wear Nike walking shoes. It's the only shoe that doesn't make my feet ache. They last about 6 months.

Agree with PR, and you might consider hiking boot without aggressive tread. Especially climbing ladders all day and kneeling down.

I'll look into it for sure, thankyou for the tip. I've tried cross trainers, walking shoes etc....My feet always seemed sore, so I've been using Asic's Running Shoes for the last few years. I really like the support the running shoe's provide all day.:thumbsup.. Right now I have two pairs of the same shoe for work, and I just wear alternate shoes everyday.

I hate steel toe. None of the boots felt right. I did a job at an airport and had to have hard toe, not steel toe. They had tobe composite toe as not to set off the metal detectors. Hated those too.

Some good hiking boots are the hot ticket, light weight, good support designed to be on your feet all day. Vasque are the shit, redwing also has a nice hiking boot, ugly as sin but great. Whatever you do stay away from diehard or that type of boot, those things are shit and will kill your feet. I have a pairof oxblood redwings that I have resoled a few times now, I keep them around for looks;)

Did you get Karen sorted?

I've owned two sets of "Eagle" work boots. First pair I bought (and still wear time to time) I purchased 18 years ago. They weren't steal toed so I bought a second pair that were about 9 years ago. Still in great shape. Just gotta re-sole them from time to time. They're comfy enough (just spent the last 17 days in a row on my feet in them for 15 hours a day with out issue. They're the typical fireman black boot with zippers up the middle. Great boot and not too much money.

In RB's profession comfort is key, he won't necessarily be on a construction site everyday but needs a in between boot, not a all leather work boot and not a tennis shoe.

I wore my docs for a couple weeks and the aggressive tread didn't seem to work well for what I need. So far the best thing I have found has been skate shoes but I I through them like crazy. Tried my walking shoes and they just got tore up right away.

Skate shoes go wear out fast. My feet start to ache right away. When I said Nike walking shoes, I meant like a cross trainer. The running shoes are too light and aggressive. The cross trainers seem to work well for me.

Your probably going to want a professional shoe like a RedWing. Something low top that law enforcement might wear??? They aren't cheap.

It's my feet. I'm ok with spending the $$. Just like buying $60 flip flops and $200+ sunglasses. Certain things just aren worth citing corners on.
