Got about 4 pairs of low milage florsheims 10.5 steel toe slightly used...Save yourself the break in:D

I've got probably a half dozen pairs of work shoes around here that are all like new. :D

I try to make it a point to throw a bum a pair instead of letting them build up....Better then giving them all my beach parking change.

I always liked wolverines. Not sure about safety reqmnts but find out if you have to have a heel. Some companies require this when on ladders.

I do what you are saying about every day. Try some Oakley RSA boots. Very soft and about every 3 months they wear out, but they are worth it.

I've tried a lot, these work for me.:thumbsup

RB I think you will like the Redwings.
I wore their boots on duty for a lot of years, the only better boot I have owned is Danner.
I have two pair, one saw 12 years of service and look new. The other I bought just before I pulled the pin.
RedWing or Danner would be my choice.

Well the trusty old skate shoes just aren't cutting it any more so looking to get a new pair of work boots/shoes. Those in the know what are the best to look for?

Wolverines with durashock soles. Super comfy and durable.

I'm a vans guy 99% of the time. Got tired of wearing the fuckers out every other month so i decided to boot shop too.

I looked at most of the brands mentioned but i ended up with a pair of doc's industrial steel toes. I love them so far. I didn't need steel toes but thought they would be great for when i have kick someone/something.

I even wore them on a pretty intense 6 mile hike last weekend for "break in" and my feet were happy the whole time :D

I wear Wolverines. Your typical top sewn work boot, they last about 6 to 8 months. I used to wear the steel toe version, but lately the toe seems to be wider than normal.

If you're talking about comfortable, protective, durable, lightweight, easy to get in and out of, high quality boots then Danner is the way to go.

I've got a pair like these with composite toes (much lighter than steel) and the side zippers allow you to get in and out of them quickly. They're the most comfortable boots I've ever had.

I also have a pair of Bates side zips with Dura Shock soles that I wear, when I'm not at work. Also a damn good boot.

I'm just in a warehouse all day but on my feet alot running back and forth between buildings, in each building and back to my office. I had Wolverines and they lasted well. They were hard to get into and out of though but I have high arches. Like super high. I replaced with Ariat's at more money and they are way easier to get into and out of. Comfort is about the same. Has some ups and downs. Seems to be wearing better. Went almost a year on the Wolverines. Has been a few months with the Ariat's. Skecher's before that were down in 2-3 months.

I didn't read the whole thread. But I swear, the most comfortable steel toe shoes I ever had were the ones I used while in my fire academy. They were Chippewas. They're firefighter boots. You can either lace them all up, or lace in the zipper piece so they are quick to get on and off. You can get them at the uniform shops that the firefighters and cops shop at. The soles were soft. Once you break them in, they are super comfortable and supportive. Not cheap. Like about $150-$200 I think. I'm sure some of the boys here wear these. :thumbsup

If you're going to spend $75-100, spend the extra $25 or so and get something made in USA. A lot of boots suggested have factories here in the U.S. I'm on my feet 10 hrs a day at work. It's a 1/4 mile from one end of the plant to the other and I walk at least 10 miles every day. The best boots are always complimented by a nice pair of inserts after break-in. I would rather see a thread on what boots not to get. It Might make the decision much easier. Knowing Nord sells work boots, I'm gonna hit him up to see what he can offer. :thumbsup

I work in a crane yard and wear jeans and boots everyday. Have steel toes but hate them. I love my laceup Ariats the best. Justin makes a boot called Baby Phats but they are women's. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1345115866.409537.jpg

My dad used to be a machinist (retired) and was always having a tough time finding good shoes. One year I bought him some red wing work boots and he said they were the ebst shoes he ever wore for work and standing on his feet all day.

I've wore Red wings most of my life
Cannot go wrong with them IMO

But recently (last 4 years) I've been wearing Cabelas Rimrock Hikers
$85 and they last me at least a year
Break in in just a few days
Lightweight ,waterproof, looks professional

I have a steel toe pair I keep in my truck
But only wear them when required

I wear the non steel toe daily

For years I wore the "Big 5" whatever was on sale....$16-$25 usually for hiking boots...Wear them a couple of months and when they start looking worn, throw them away...I'd buy two or three pair at once, always had a good looking pair in the closet for those "party after work" days......Yeah, yeah, I know, if you're on your feet all day you need a good pair of shoes/boots, but as a machinist I was on my feet most of the time and those never gave me any issues....

Wolverine's.

I buy a pair every year when they go on sale for $89 at shoeteria, whether I need them or not.

Could never make red wings feel comfortable, I think at size 14 manufacturers give up. Nice boots though.

I used to run Carolina Golds... It was like sticking my foot into a Mercedes Benz. I think they were bought and now called Georgia Boot, don't have the same fit for me, but still worth trying on.

I always get the additional cushion green inserts by the checkout along with some good socks. The in-soles they sell have a six month or one year warranty so I end up with a free pair of them once a year.

Same here Red Wing 595 Chukka. Only boot I've worn in the last 15 years or so. You don't have to take them off after work, just like wearing tennis shoes. I usually buy a pair and have a pair re-soled every year to a year and a half. I also have a couple pairs in black for meeting with customers.

I have worn the same style for over 30 years the last there around $230 bucks now but well worth it.

Good pAir of orthotic inserts help too

AMEN to that, get them a size bigger and have inserts made. You do not want a lug sole (hiking boot) for ladder work! IMO :champagne::champagne:

Same experience.

In construction I have found them to be less than advertised. Timberland and Wolverine seem to hold up best for the $$ involved.

All the men in my family have at least 2 pair in the closet. At thanksgiving last year i looked around and noticed about 15 of the 20 males there had them on. I wear mine to work, hunting, out at night, where ever.

The $230 ones are slightly different. They're a three-piece construction.

The problem with a lot of boot manufactures is that they don't deal with width sizes, standard only. That won't work for me, I have a narrow foot "B width" and I can find that in Red Wings.

I get any where from 9 months to a year out of them and I think that is pretty good, and I get them re-soled probably two more times on top of that. The big plus is that my feet don't ache after wearing them for 12 hours. Many times when I get home from work I just keep on wearing them until damn near bedtime.

$230 a year is nothing for the comfort of the feet that you are going to stand on for the rest of your life. I always get them on sale or with a coupon and they around $180.

I'm a firefighter and I wear these slip on steel toe boots about 16 hrs a day. I used to have problems with my feet until I found these. They ate the black ones on the front page of the website. The are lightweight, slip on with good ankle support, cushion sole, and steel toe for safety. They are seriously the closest think to tennis shoes I've found. In fact, I wear an old pair doing work around my house because they are more comfortable than other boots I have at home. These are around $125 but will last about 3-5
Years wearing them 5 days a week.

Worx has a pair like that. I used to wear them. They were great boots when I was turning wrenches.

Wow I'm surprised no one has mentioned Eccos they are expensive but I would say 90 percent of my coworkers wear them and we are all on our feet 10 plus hours a day.

Something like that has too much of an aggressive tread. I'm looking for fairly smooth sole. That's the reasons docs didn't work out. Too much stuff to get caught up and trip on.

Redwings! They last forever with a smooth sole. Plus if they get worn for $75 they will put in a new sole.

As an update to this thread. Decide On the red wings. And have to say my feet couldn't be happier. 10+ hrs a day up and down ladders and on my feet. The ability to resole them is nice as well. Was working in a pair of doc martens and they just aren't built as well anymore.

You Big dummy. Should have gotten ahold of me with the size and model you wanted. I still have a $200 voucher here for a pair of redwings.

I needed a pair ASAP unfortunately. I do want roger another pair though. One for commercial work and one for nicer residential stuff.
