OK, so wife goes back to work after taking care of our kids at home for the past 13 years. I decide that I would make her feel special at her new office and have flowers delivered. I hear all these ads on the radio for Proflowers.com and check out there website. Prices seem real fair and the pics look nice online. So I order up a dozen red roses and go to check out on the website Friday.

I feel like I'm at the used car dealer at this point on the website--them asking for all these extra add-ons and shit. Click through several screens and never get a price until the AFTER I enter my Visa CC info (should have bailed then). Finally get to the end and discover they added on shipping AND handling AND a rush fee. I'm like WTF but just want to get done so I click thru..done.

Fastforward to this AM and I get an email from Proflowers saying that UPS has picked up my flowers for delivery...WTF...UPS!!!:bash:

So I start surfing the web and discover that these douchebags send a fucking DIY assemble your own flower kit to your loved one:bash:. Are you fucking kidding me?

Wife calls me and says thanks so much hun, I love you, but these are in a box and I have to put them together and arrange them myself (she was not complaining BTW, shes a good woman and does not bitch much:D).

Man I feel like a fucking idiot for not checking this place out first. They are so big I assumed they were doing something right.

Shame on me and I hope you don't make the same mistake.

RANT OVER!!!!

:D

Oh yeah, don't forget that it is the thought that counts:rotflmao:

Used them many times, they deliver fresh flowers that the person receiving has to put in a vase, not a big deal IMO. My mom and GF have never complained, they like the fact that I was thinking of them and I was able to save few bucks over going to a flower shop.

All she had to do was put them in the vase lol. I've used them and had a bad experience one time. They still delivered the flowers and refunded my money. I called them to tell them and they said they were aware and hopefully I'd use them again :)

The box has a vase, flowers, and a stay fresh packet. Pretty much a no brainer. If you wanted them to come in a vase, you can pay more through a local flower shop.

They should tell you that UPS will deliver and not a florist before you buy them. After all, they are Proflowers.com, not Amateurflowers.com, right? If your wife is at work and very busy she cannot just run to the back room and assemble the kit, add water, etc. Plus that kind of takes away from the making her feel special factor, don't you think.:headscratch:

Maybe I should take her to McDonalds tonight to further impress her:rotflmao:

Never use a shop that doesn't deal with FTD.

You can place an order online or at any FTD affiliate and its sent to a local flower shop.
The shop already has all the flowers and items. They put it together and deliver it using their own guy.
This does not apply to Proflowers. They state right on there site they do not use local flower shops. They go to the local growers. The flowers I ordered were shipped from up North. The flowers last about 2 weeks which is pretty damn good imo.

I agree, while looking at there site, it does not state that they are delivered that way. There is a feedback section, I suggest you use it :)

I guess it depends on the situation. My girl works in an office, where all the other girls can see what each other is getting during the day. I don't like the idea of a company that sends my girl a sealed cardboard box from a UPS driver, especially when everybody else is getting a freshly arranged vase delivered. I just imagine her walking into her office after a meeting and seeing a big beautiful arrangment sitting on her desk. Would hate for that to be a friggin cardboard box! Kinda detracts from the Wow factor

I appreciate the warning about Proflowers - won't use them for sure.

I have used them on multiple ocassions had one bad exeprience and they went out of their way to make things right. The flowers last longer than I have seen through florists and all the receipient has to do is open the box and place them in a vase. Like Nerd said it a no brainer. In fact just got a call from my GF and she said her flowers just showed up and looked great. Ordered them through pro flowers. :thumbsup

IMHO you're generally much better off using a local (and locally owned) florist for flower delivery.

If they can afford radio/TV commercials, then they're focused on the bottom line and you'll get something decent but not great.

If you use a reputable locally owned business, and especially if you use them somewhat regularly, you'll get over-the-top service and an arrangement that your wife will be proud of.

Make sure to let them know you're a return customer when you call. Tell them that you wife LOVED what they delivered last time. This will give them a higher expectation to meet.

True story:
My wife shares a birthday with a co-worker.
I sent flowers using a great locally-owned florist who works out of her home.
Co-worker's husband used 1-800-FLOWERS

Her co-worker's arrangement sucked ass, and she was green with envy at the arrangement I had delivered to my wife.

Shit like this is hugely important, evidently.
I was a superstar :thumbsup

Hey, there is always a market for the discount product or service. I totally agree.

My bitch is that they should not be so deceptive and make it crystal clear for the first time customer that they are going to deliver the flowers in a box via UPS and some assembly is required.

As was said, this is NOT appropriate for all situations. If I would have known I would have paid double to get a local florist to deliver a pre-arranged set-up.

BTW, I've decided to scratch McDonalds tonight and I'm going to buy a couple of filets and have her cook her own steak up tonight.

Baller status now:bowdown:

Oh really? This is burried on their web page in the fine print. Does not tell you that they use UPS and implies that they have their own local expert delivery crews. Very deceptive:thumbsdown
ProFlowers Quality

While we offer cheap flowers, this means quality at a great value. ProFlowers has an unbridled passion for cultivating and delivering only the highest quality flowers and plants? and offering them at very competitive prices.. From the time our flower and plant deliveries are freshly plucked from the soil to the time they arrive at your doorstep, office, hospital room or elsewhere, our experts take great strides to ensure that you receive only the freshest, most beautiful flowers possible.

So what makes ProFlowers different? Well foremost, although we?re an online flower shop, ProFlowers works directly with professional growers. We send flowers direct; direct as in, from our fields where they?ve been sewed and reaped, to you? no middlemen [I guess UPS is not a middle man:rolleyes:], no retailers or third parties. This means less time between the flower fields and your doorstep. And less time between when flowers are cut and when you receive them only improves the quality; it also ensures you a longer bloom time. Who doesn?t love to watch the beautiful blooming lifecycle of a lone rose or an entire bountiful flower bouquet of wondrous beauty?

In fact, that?s the second differentiating factor: the ProFlowers freshness promise on every flower delivery we make. ProFlowers? freshness guarantee on deliveries is unparalleled - we promise freshness for seven days after your arrangement arrives or it will be replaced! That?s how serious we are about bringing you freshness, quality and value.

Another factor contributing to our terminal uniqueness is our expertise in your city. Yep, we?re experts in whatever city you live in, making it easy to traverse the boundaries that other florist delivery services have in place. I order from Costco online, they had a special of 36 red long stem roses arranged, in a vase and delivered for $69. Went ahead and ordered them last week for delivery today.

I get an email that the order is held up in customs and that I will be getting a FULL refund as well as receiving the flowers. Called them to say that we live in the US not overseas and she said the flowers actually get next day aired from South America. Huh!

So, I'll go buy some additional today plus she'll have another 3 on Tuesday.

Pretty cool of Costco to refund and deliver.

Sorry to hear about your problems.

with all do respect, I had no idea that you have become a complete moron. :D

Seriously....are you really complaining about this? :headscratch::headscratch:

I've used ProFlowers for years. Their commercials are pretty clear on what they do. They have the freshest longest lasting flowers. FTD is a fooking rip off.

I actually like the way they are shipped....they are more candid. The only reason I can think of anyone being upset is if they wanted someone to show up with a big arrangement that does the whole LAM routine when they are delivered. You should have called 2FF for advice if that was the angle you were going for. :thumbsup:thumbsup

If you were in Austin, TX, for you I'd recommend BurgerTex. It's a place where they cook it, then you build it at the burger bar. :p

Placed the same order. Mine said at 8:20 that they are on the truck for delivery, now it says "Future Delivery Requested". Not sure what the means...

Hum... that's weird. Spoke to them around 10:30 wondering what that email meant and that's what she told me. Maybe there was more than one shipment coming in from there and mine happened to be checked for Cocaine since they are coming from Columbia... lol

Hey "moron", it's due not do.:D

And please quote me the part where they say a) our local expert is the UPS man and b) some assembly required.

And let me repeat, I'm only complaining about the deceptive nature of their website. If you want discountfreshestflowersdeliveredbytheUPSman.com then this is your place...have at it. But, they need to tell you that before you give your CC info.

The first time I used them, I responded to a radio commercial that was very clear about what they do...and I phoned the order in. The person that got them loved the flowers and said they lasted much longer than any other flowers she had seen.

I'm not the one that googled "cheap flowers online" :bang:

Arguing with you is like arguing with someone who lives under a rock! They have been in business for over 10 years and their business model is very well known. You'd have to live under a rock to not know. Acting like they hide what they do on their website is hillarious! Oh no...they've been found out! While most of us are laughing at your complaint.

We are cheap? Didn't you just use proflowers? Why did YOU use them?

And it is quite hilarious that you are comparing someone having to put flowers in a vase to some kind of DIY IKEA furniture.

Step 1. Take flowers out of box
Step 2. Put flowers in vase (included in box)
Step 3. Enjoy them for a week longer than normal.

I guess I am one of those cheap bastards. I have all of the dates lined up on their website. Anniversary, birthday, mother's day, valentines day, all of them. I get an e-mail that the day is coming, and I just place the order on line and...BINGO! They arrive and put a smile on my wifes face.

They have pissed me off in the past, but they also manned up and took care of an issue as well. Two years ago I ordered an arrangement to be delivered on Valentines Day, and they did not arrive. I ordered early, and paid extra for delivery that day. Not only did they refund ALL of my money, but they delivered flowers to her work the next day for free, upgraded by adding an additional dozen to my original order, and they also gave me a dozen free coupon. It may not have had the fire of delivery on Valentines Day, but two free deliveries of flowers is good in my book! ;)

That's what I did Ty....found out the excitement she gets because I took time out of my day to deliver them myself does wonders. Kind of funny to see the looks from her co-workers as they're busy putting they're kits together as well.

Crossing my fingers that my order gets to her, called this morning and they were in Bloomington, her work is in Rancho Cucamonga. I had ordered before from 800-FLOWERS and she loved them so hopefully it works again.

i almost went the proflowers route.

The do it yourself flower kits would have been fine. After all, look at the burnt out hulls you guys brought home and thought you had a couple of jet boats.

I used one time years ago. Didn't arrive on time (following Tuesday or some shit). I called and bitched, they refunded money 100%.

On the + side the quality of flowers was excellent and lasted a long time and they were very apologetic for the mistake. I haven't used again but probably would. I'm not much of a flowery guy though except the print on my panties which I mix it up between daisies, butterflies and little faeries depending on my mood.
