It's worth mentioning this engine is 180hp peak and cannot do this continuous duty. My understanding is that continuous power is around 100hp.

With solar re-charging at the dock it would work pretty good I'd say.

Tom, as we know those Campions are laid up [ actually chopper gunned ] so they get on plane pretty quick but I bet it won't run very long on battery power only. Have driven a Fisker Karma my local dealer buddy just bought for 50K [ they're cheap since the problem with government pullout and no warr :yikes] that has a 260hp onboard gas engine to maintain power to the electric motors. The two electric motors have a total of 900 footpounds of torque, yet the car can only do 4.6 sec 0-60. It's a heavy pig.
About 50K for the outboard and 30K for the batteries not many people will fork out the dole when they have to buy a boat as well
on top of it. I think the boating industry need to adapt the hybrid system if they want to build boats with electric propulsion with range.> http://greenlinehybrid.com/Yachts
