I used a company called "Turf Exchange". They knocked it out of the park. They came at 7am and left at 5pm, front and back yards done, same day. Many neighbors have asked me who I used. They are based near us in Socal

Yours turned out great, I think it's the best I've seen around the neighborhood.

I remember a few weeks ago, King Newscum claimed that plastic grass was emitting toxins, hazardous to your health, and cancerous to boot, and was prohibiting plastic grass installation in Kalifornia. Anyone hear about this?

There is merit to it from my understanding but I haven't taken a deep dive.

Good friend of mine just started his own turf biz out of Vegas. He worked for his cousin nationwide for a couple years doing stadiums and government buildings and knows his stuff..

Thank you, yeah the blend of turf I have has a lot of brown roots to it to make it look more real. I looked at two houses with the same 2" turf and I was sold on it. My buddy has the same turf and they added a putting green to his back lawn, it turned out amazing. They did a great job on it with a 15 year warranty.. I definitely don't miss cutting my old lawn, fighting crab grass and fixing sprinklers. My yard is so much more manageable now.

LOL another hypocrisy of the greenies…. let’s make everyone remove cool grass and replace it with 800 degree nylon filament and crumb rubber.

We had to dig up our ally in Scottsdale, because we dumped all our oil changes in the alley, for over 25 years. Unfortunately we still owned the house when we got caught. 😁

Yes

He lifted an old Jerry Brown law that said that counties can't ban artificial turf. The problem is that most of the turf out there is cheap imported product that can not be traced, no MSDS info etc. It has lead, PFAS and also does not hold up long term. The Turf we use is made in the USA🇺🇲 and is lead free, PFAS Free and has 15 year warranty.

Hoping this law will help legitimate licensed contractors who use good products.

Do the manufacturers of quality turf have representation to educate various governmental entities on these important differences in order to prevent unjustifiable bans due to product ignorance ?

That is the first time I have seen it look like real grass. Looks great
There are SO many products out there now. Many that have a lot of brown thatch to give it " natural " look. It is like looking at Cheesecake Factory menu, you can get lost in the choices. You would be surprised how many homeowners want a bright green. They are so sick of brown patches and crappy looking weed filled grass that they want a drastic change. The customer gets to choose.

Yeah I get it my house is on a corner with a huge front lawn its a pain in the ass to take care of and costs too much if I want to keep it green. The guy across the street had the bright green stuff put in and It just looks too fake to me. Im not opposed to the turf but if I was going to do it I would want something that looks like real grass.

Last year we did some work at Turf Distributors in Temecula. That had a showroom of the different types of turf to pick from.

Wife and I have been looking, actually prefer it not so bright and tend to find the longer blades a bit more realistic so it doesn't appear like a putting green.
What I have noticed with a few samples I have in my shop, the samples with the longer blades tend to lay over more easily as would be expected. Problem seems to be they don't spring right back up.
As a general rule do you find this problematic with your brands, or do longer bladed turfs require more raking maintenance ?

That is the most impressive plastic grass I've seen. I'm looking at their choices right now. Can you please provide the name of the turf you selected?

Hi.. It's the "Rincon 80" 2.1" length blade... They also have it in a 2.5" blade but it might lay down a little at that length, I stuck with the 2.1. Put the rolled edge on at least the front yard, it looks really good.

I called Brad Halpern, he is one of the owners of Turf Exchange, he is a great guy. Super friendly and knows his stuff. He is also the Mayor of Westlake Village, lol...

Brad's number is 805 500-0576 or 818 292-6080 brad@turfexchange.com He brings an army of skilled workers and your yard and completely transforms it in one day. They also removed a huge root that was exposed on the lawn and capped the sprinklers as well as cut the sprinkler valve wires. Nothing they can't do and they're prepared to handle almost every situation on the spot.

Tell him I sent you even though he probably won't remember me. :)

All of the distributors carry lines that have a lot of brown thatch in them. One thing to keep in mind is that the longer and softer the blades the faster it will lay down and get matted. The import products are usually more lush and people really like the initial feel but they are not as happy in the long run. We have been in business for 15 years and after thousands of jobs and a million sqft. per year I can tell you that the USA made Tiger Turf products from SGW hold up the best over time.
