So...Who in So Cal does this? All I can seem to find is companies like Becks which is mostly diesel big rig stuff and big dollars. This is a stock 310 hp BB Chevy.

1997 Merc LX MPI 454 stumbles and runs rough at idle about 80% of the time.
I have tried several in tank cleaners including Seafoam marine and it seem to get better for a day or so and then the rough idle is back.
I have decided to replace the injectors.

I purchased 8 Remans from a company on Amazon and they look fine but before I install them I want a flow test done.
Also I would like a flow test on the old to make sure there is an issue and also get them rebuilt.

Don't use Amazon injectors! ! ! ! !

There's a few "mail-in" options, like FIC (fuel injector connection) that do a good job.
I personally use Motor West in Chatsworth, CA.

They will rebuild and give you a injector dyno / flow test when complete.

Here's a good reference for ya from a few years back. I had issues with my 2006 496HO injectors and Chris took great care of me. Couldn't find his number... he's kinda a mystery dude I reckon but he knew what to do about my issue. Based in Laguna Niguel Ca

I own the purchased remans. Wasn't willing to use them though w/o a flow test.

I will send RC an email to the tech Tech@RCFuelInjection.com and await their reply.

Perhaps I can take them all down there and let them decide whats best. I'll update after I hear back.

Aside from the diesels in the Ocean Cat this is my 1st fuel injected boat. Bought it with 630 hrs and now its in the high 800's. Dishing out a little love it warranted.

I'll update when I have some info.

Go to the River and work on the boat and nobody cares. I really struggle for time these days.

Installing those injectors was a bitch and a half. I had RC Injection rebuild the Merc Kehin Injectors and several were dripping and low on rate. Now all good. The remans I didn't use were good and actually flow really tight as a group out of the box but were aftermarket no namers from China. I'll keep them as spares. This injector technology is archaic by todays standards using a pintle and a single hole.

@ChrisV Thanks for the offer but after viewing your Instagram page I didn't want to bother you with this as I can see how busy you are.
Top shelf fab work for sure. You need your own thread on what you do!

Replacing the water pump impellor was no easy feat either. Done.

Now to scavenge some parts from MAW's intake setup I bought from him couple weeks back. Mount the throttle body, put back the interior, and go boating.

Just did the impeller, all filters , plugs, cap and rotor this week. I was thinking of you as I pulled the plugs. 7 of them looked perfect. Last one was good, just slightly more brown. It was cylinder 8 at the end of the line. I may pull my injectors at the end of this season and have them cleaned and flowed. Boat still apart, have to replace the fuel supply line, but that will take 20 mins once I have it in hand.

My bilge pump sounded like I threw a fork in the garbage disposal, so I replaced that. It was fine when I bench tested it, something looks like it got in there.

How many hours used divided by time sitting with ethanol gas in there? Thats how the guy at RC put it. Boats and race cars are the hardest on injectors.

So the new impellor housing cracked after 20 min of use. Boat runs perfect and the RC Rebuilds made a difference, no doubt.

Back on the trailer and off to Spankys to get another. They have 3 different brands in stock. What does that tell you.

I need to track down a Stainless Steel housing unit but that's not happening in Parker.

Mine sits for about 5 months.. but the other 7 months of the year the fuel is fresh every couple weeks. The boat runs as it should. That one plug in number 8 has just looked little different for the last couple years. Injectors look like they would take about an hour to get out on my engine.

I run a prefilter before the water/fuel separator it’s always been clean so the lines are still good… for now :)

That sucks about the housing. That style is a little easier to deal with than mine. I did do the Hardin Stainless housing as mine was brass. I put the rebuild kit with new wear plates in this time.

We were doing the impeller like yours on my friends boat one year. He dropped the housing on the ground and it cracked in half.

I have a new one going in tomorrow morning. We drank all afternoon so nothing happened.

Thanks for the input. I will be hunting down a stainless setup shortly. No faith now.

$149.00 complete kit at Spanky's. They had cheaper Sierra and another brand but I purchased the Merc setup same as the one that split.
I paid $129 New wave Marine so $20 extra to get one on the fly I say is a win.

Perhaps a mistake...well see.

I think you’ll be OK until the next time you do it if it holds together for 30 mins :)
