We have gator step in our boat. A few small pieces are starting to lift. We are ordering new pieces but they are 6-8 weeks out. As a temporary fix is there any type of adhesive you guys have used to keep it down?

I believe 3M 4200 is the faster drying version of the 5200 (which seems takes 5200 hours to cure. . . kidding)
It stays rubbery, and you can get it off later by scraping it w/ a plastic scraper, & maybe a hit of acetone.
I'd clean the area off good 1st with acetone & a paper towel, smear some 4200 on there, roll the gator step back, and put a flat board over the area with some heavy weights to hold it down, and leave it for as long as you can. At least 24 hours.

5200 would work as well . . . just some times takes longer, and might be a bit of an overkill.

Others may have better ideas . . . just my $.02

I’m contemplating replacing the snap in carpet in my deck boat with Gator Step/Sea Deck. I know it feels great on the feet but I hear a lot of cons against its use. It is hard to keep clean. Scuffs/tears easily. Lifts. What are some thoughts or issues experienced with this new fad?

Having had both types of floor coverings in a boat. I would NEVER have carpet again. Simple as that.

I prefer carpet or anything other than Gator. That flooring gets super hot in the exposed sun areas. I think I have left patches of skin on gator floor in the summer months.

I would try an automotive double sided 3m trim tape. Just a thought, never used it for that....

How often do you replace the carpet? And what did it cost you?

I’ve seen some of the new fad flooring shrinking/lifting etc inside of a year.

I’d do carpet

Just use a little 100% silicone glue...drop were ya need it and tape it down with masking tape till morning. Peel the tape off and don't worry about any overspill. It'll hold it down till ya get a replacement. You shouldn't have a problem getting the leftover off...its liquid rubber. FWI...dont get the calking.

So is it lifting or peeling on the edges? I found that the sun glare on the interior gel would cause edges to lift, roll up. I placed pieces in some interior corners where high glare is when beached. Hope this makes some sense??

Here are two pics, one when I got out of the shop see the front of boat, in the curves it started to burn and peel within 6 months. 2nd pic was what was placed to stop the glare off the gel, like a magnifying glass in the sun. I also have some pieces placed around the interior to prevent glare also. 2 seasons now and no more peel or lift.
