Judging by the axle placements,
is this a direct drive with the engine in front of the Helm with the exhaust running through the the gunnells to the stern?

That would be my guess, that's how they used to build em. Few more pics from the FB page. I didn't have to sign in to view the page.

The definition of "true fuck you money" is indeed the theme of the Lake George area. 👍

For 700k I would want some Mercruiser 1200's or at least a 14:71 sticking out with an injector hat. haha. That engine doesn't even have aluminum heads! It has the valve covers we all throw away! haha.

I’m not understanding what is justifying that price tag? Bad ass boat but 700k? Good lord

these types of boats are 100% hand crafted out of very expensive woods like red oak, teak, and mahogany and are built around a skeleton style frame. The man hours that it takes to build one of these will make an M37 look like a blow up toy

This.. while MTI DCB etc build amazing boats…these are quite literally pieces of art… I haven’t seen one in person in years but a core memory as a boy was seeing a “Racer” at Coeur d’Alene Idaho… i’ve loved wooden boats ever since…

The cost in these mahogany beauties is the labor. Some of the more custom, elaborate boats will have 4000-6000 hours of labor. The wood is expensive as well and can cost near $30 per board foot. It is hard to appreciate one unless you have seen them in person. And nothing compares to the ride. The wood acts as an insulator, absorbing not only the impact of the water but the sound as well. They truly are amazing.

The guy my son was named after was building some very nice wood boats out of Thailand then bringing the hulls over here and rigging them.. they were surprisingly affordable

Is the one still in your showroom? If so (and if you can) post a few pics if it! The hatch mechanism alone is a work of art and worth its own story!

Dave, and @sirbob , I posted this video a while ago. Friend Chris here in the Okanagan built it. He doesn't want to sell it, but if he did, he would be asking 600K cdn, at least. Twin 496's. He restores boats like Riva and the likes.

Chris restored this Sheperd prior the accident and rebuilt the hull side that was bashed by a seadoo

he owns a 21 Riva I'd love to own myself.

15-20 years ago I lost a couple hundred hours online watching these guys build what I believe are some of the best in design , engineering and execution wooden boats. Used to offer a school program too! Van Dam custom boats . Look thru some of their builds and you will be in awe ! The steering wheels they hand make , along with every metal trinket is over the top stuff. Ck em out if you want to see some of the best craftsmanship in the USA.

That’s definitely a limited clientele type of build. I think it’d be lucky to sell for half of that if not worse?…🤔

Chad, pretty easy winter going on I hear. Maybe get out on Coeur d Alene even earlier than last year.🤞

This is the one you saw. This is based off the Van Dam boat Alpha Z. The guy that built this begged Van Dam for blueprints so he could build his own as Van Dam would not build another Alpha Z. They refused for years. Finally they let him come take pics of Alpha Z. From those pics, he drew up scale plans and built his first boat in his garage which was a 25' version. He then built a shop with all the tools necessary. This boat was his 2nd boat he built. 31' with a GT Performance 900EFI and Arneson surface drive. The hatch mechanism alone cost about $25,000 to design and build. It is a blast to drive!

Yes it is! Very warm for this time of year. We will be in the low 40's all week. I was on Lake CDA last week testing a boat!

Nice wood boats give nice wood.

That vessel was built for the late Duane Hagadone who built the Coeur d Alene resort among many other businesses. He also owned Coeur Custom wood boats which built the Sizzler. Up here, wood boats are becoming very much a status symbol. With Gozzer Ranch and its hollyweird clientele, there is no shortage of wealthy folks to afford them. During my time at StanCraft wooden boats, I maintained boats owned by Elway, Gretzky, Kardashians and a host of others.
