People may question why I go by IROCDave. I bought an 87 IROC in 1990 and have poured way to many dollars and time in it since buying it.Todays Muscle cars are much faster but I still have a soft spot for 3rd gen F bodies. I sold the matching convertible last summer. Sucked to do that but my wife never drove it. \
Here is a short vid of the care from several years ago before the custom cam whipped out the hardened gear of the MSD dizzy.

Any one else have a soft spot for these cars?

Are you Italian? lol

Lately I find myself looking at cars from that era......IROCS, Mustangs, GNX's, Trans-Am GTA's, even the Typhoon. I sold my foxbody 10years ago, from the day I watched it disappear I knew I would always have regrets. I don't quite understand it myself, guess it's cause I was too late to enjoy the real muscle car era! If I only had enough money I'd love to drive around in a 1970 GSX, but that'll never happen!

Id love a nice IROC or Trans Am GTA. Ls swaps are easy in those cars too, the 4th Gen camaros share alot of the same suspension parts as the 3rd gen so the motor positioning / etc is similar

I love the 3rd Gen cars! I want one sooo bad! Was really close to picking up a '92 with a 5.0 tpi with a 5 speed a few years ago but just couldn't swing it at the time.

Sounded pretty good!

I used to love taking money from Iroc Z owners back in the late 80's. :D Back then the Iroc's were really cool and I still like the look of them. The 454 engine swap Hot Rod Magazine did back then looked fun.

That thing is clean. I'm guessing it would do well at barret Jackson or the sort

My friend in high school (96-98) had an 87 with a 350 and automatic. Same burgundy but I believe he had the wheels with gold on them. T top car, and of course one time cruising he didn't have one latched properly and it blew off on the freeway, a right of passage with those I think. I have always had a soft spot for them, but I went to the dark side for my daily driver after college and went 88 5.0 five speed mustang instead. The performance and ample stick shift cars were too much of a lure. Very nice car

My ex-wife had a '87 with the 305 back when I met her. Sure was a good freeway cruiser.

I thought IROC racing was a great concept.
What killed it?

I really like the idea too, I watched a special once on the promoter/founder of the series. He said the inherent struggle was not top drivers wanting to do it, but trying to get all the different racing series' to cooperate in scheduling and the logistics of getting all these people in the same place at the same time. I wish it would come back, its good for bench racing within the pro nascar, f1, irl crowds who argue each others series are talentless drivers :D

I had an '89 Trans Am with all the factory bells and whistles. Bright red with the whale tail spoiler. It was the worst car that I ever had. Three rear ends, seven alternators, five starters, brakes every 10,000, T-tops leaked like Niagara Falls, pop-up headlights that had a mind of their own and would end up winking at people as you drove by (stereo was also possessed) and to top it all off it definitely could not live up to the image that it projected but it sure looked cool.:D

My girlfriend at the time, now wife, had a 91 RS when I met her. Being a chevy man myself, it does pain me to say that car was a pile of shit and I'm glad she got rid of it before it became my headache full time :D

I have a '99 SS that I cannot seem to part with. If I did replace it I know i'd have something that would be a better/more fun ride, but I'm having a tough time actually getting to that point of selling. I'd probably replace it with a 911 964 street/track set-up.

Yes, I have a soft spot for the Camaro.

I had an white 87 IROC with a 350 and a Paxton SC and Banks exhaust. Sounded amazing, and ran like a raped ape. Want to build another some day.

Always had Camaros. My dad had a 70 1/2 Hugger Orange
Z/28 that he bought brand new when he got home from Vietnam. That car got me hooked. I first bought an '89 RS with Iroc wheels and a 305, 5 speed. Then I bought a '94 Z28. After I signed for baseball I found a fully restored 70 1/2 Z/28 and bought it and had it delivered to my dad. Then I bought a '99 SS. That was the last one I had till last year when I bought a '14 SS 1LE, but sold that this past April. Only ones I can find pics of are the 99 and the '14

I had a 96 z28 convertible with the police interceptor modification (stupid fast in a straight line). Had that car my senior year in college (crazy memories). Traded that car in when I needed something more business friendly that would allow me to take clients to lunch/dinner. Some days I still wished I had it.

I was always partial to the B Bodies. I drove this in HS, it was an Ex CHP cruiser.

I love camaro's I had bought a 67SS some time back, similar story to shipping guy and got my son hooked. I sold the 67ss after completing it never had time to drive it and the wife hated the four speed mostly the heavy clutch. Bought the son a 71 hugger orange for his first car with LT1 drive line from a vett that we did a father son restore on and then sold it due to the vett drive line costing so much to repair and only hitting my wallet. Now my son is looking for another 2nd gen to buy and start over with oem driveline. Camaro2000.jpg camaro.jpg IMG_0267.jpg IMG_1915.jpg DSCN0354.jpg

Had alot of good times in my 00 ss.

That car should have sent me straight to prison...lol

11.9 at 118 with a cam and bolt-ons

I'm not a big fan of the 5th gens but if I ever bought one it would be just like mikes...White 1LE with a TVS2300

I have high hopes for the new car coming out even though I probably wouldn't get one.

Was not a Camaro fan growing up. I can appreciate them but I was/am a MN12 fan. V6 3.8L supercharged. IRS. Ran it with 10% under drives and pulled 3/1 on the SC. Car was way ahead of it time. My first ended up totaled.. But I still carry those keys with me today. Picked up a newer one a few years ago. '95 SC 5spd. Last year of the SC T-Birds. Lowest production #'s of any year, this is 1 of only 574 5spds made.
