A buddy of mine is going camping at lake piru this weekend, and plans on launching his boat. He hasn't been there in years. I told him he better check it out first, I have a feeling its a mud puddle and may not even be open to boating. Info online says its at 12% capacity.

Does anyone know, or have any pics?

We drove up there on Monday afternoon to look at the lake since I've never been there. There is water and surprisingly there were only a few PWC's on the water.

This is a picture taken from the road over looking the lake.

You mean the whole 2 miles of water?

Tried tuning the boat there and it was pretty funny when we got a little speed had to pull back on the sticks to turn and go the other way

Wow that is LOW

See the green straight ahead in the pic? That used to be water and we would park and tie up back in that cove.

I've never been on the lake so not sure how much higher the water was relative to the picture. I know the one website says 12% capacity.

Worst lake ever blows out 8am or by the time a second boat get on the water. It does not mellow out in the evening either. Waste of time to go out there!!!

Sounds like a lake I don't want to put my 20 foot boat on.

Pyramid, Castaic, Piru would be my rankings. I'd rather be on Piru than my couch but it's small right now

I would hook the water hose up to the boat in my drive way and make motor boat noises before I go to Piru!! Countless dirty diapers and dead people at the bottom.

And Later's boat. That's freaking disgusting.

Ya people who don't know how to swim or get too drunk. they lose 2-3 a summer and can't find them.

It's a mecca for large weekend birthday parties of the people Trump wants to keep out.

We went out yesterday for a few hours. I've never been on this lake and it is really small. They have the main launch ramp closed and have another make shift launch ramp in use which is only two lanes and tough to turn around in. Everyone is encouraged to stay close to the dock when launching where the ground is more solid.

There were only about 4 boats on the water and was getting busier when we left. I imagine with anything more than a dozen boats out there it would be crowded.

Piru really isn't bad for an early morning test and tune. I took my flat there a couple of times when I still live in the Valley. Closer than Pyramid and no patrol like Castaic.

Tried tuning my boat there a couple of months ago and when we got on plane it felt like I had to pull back on the sticks and turn around

I'll add, that was close to 10 years ago and the lake no doubt had more water lol

The wife and I were doing a bunch of speed runs to burn off some fuel and we did see the patrol boat out there and were not harassed.

There was only 3-4 boats out there including us and about 4-6 jet skis.

If any of you really want to waste your time. Go to Puddingstone. That lake is an absolute joke. In my opinion, they should just drain it due to how pointless it is. In all my years, I have never been pulled over on the water. I was pulled over twice that day. The lake has a 12MPH speed limit unless you're in the death defying boat loop. Then you may travel at 35. Also, no alcohol allowed on the lake. :thumbsdown
