I need to get 300 cases of PPE gowns, each case weighs 14 pounds, from Vernon, CA to Mission Viejo, CA. Any ideas on how to do that? If I use FedEx it'll cost $2800 to ship each box individually and can't ship them on a pallet due to where they are going. The kicker is they need to be delivered to the 3rd floor, via elevator, and put in an office neatly. There won't be any help to load or unload either.

There has to be a company that does this that doesn't charge 2800, right?

Thanks,

SHEP

There is always good ol Uship. Takes about a day to let the shippers get through the bidding war. I recently had a bad experience but most of the time it's been great and saved a ton of money.

Edit: I was thinking Mission Viejo was up north. Try Hollywood delivery service as well.

Are they on a pallet? If so, what are the size of the pallets? How many pallets?

They are currently on a pallet in Vernon, CA with 21 cases per pallet. I don't know the actual size of each pallet though. If they are kept on a pallet there would be 14 plus a few loose cases. The cases will have to be delivered individually, not on a pallet.

I Probably can get this worked out for you if you don't get anyone. I would use our inhouse carrier (cool guys) and pay him on the side... That would be the only down side though... Let me know..>I am out of DTLA...

What do you think that would cost?

I don't think $2800 is that far out of bed to haul 300 boxes on 14 pallets, then un-palletize them and delivery each box individually up 3 stories. Sounds like a lot of labor.

A few questions
Can this be picked up/delivered with 2 different trucks?

When does it need to be delivered by and what are the hours it can be delivered?

Lots of carriers are just load and off load..so having someone to do the labor to offload and deliver to an office is the big kicker...

I am getting a quote right now..

He could do it in one shot with a small trailer.. but those drivers are used to just drop and go. Does this place have a dock? let me know if it can be delivered in 2 separate trucks..

thanks

Rent a trailer, swing by Home Depot, get 4-6 guys, 50.00 a day per person. Buy them lunch, provide water, call it a day.

You need to let me know which Home Depot you are finding $50/day labor at. Around here these guys formed some sort of Mexican union. They won't even talk to you for less than $150/day.

There has to be a freight elevator....no?

2 guys with modified hand trucks...piece of cut plywood screwed to the base so it will hold 10 boxes per load. That would be 30 loads up a normal elevator, and manageable at only 140lbs each.

If the trailer can get somewhere close to the entrance, near an elevator...it should go quick. 15 trips up and down with 2 guys. Could probably have the whole trailer unloaded in 3 hours or less. I know a couple out of work guys that I can probably talk into doing the whole unloading and stacking thing for $300 or so each if you can get the pallets there. I've got one hand truck they can use.

I see a solution has been found............................ I'm moving soon. Here U-Haul you can hire movers with the rental. My plan is rent a U-Haul and hire two workers. Should have my move done in a few hours.

Not sure if you're still looking for a solution here, but I'd recommend Three Men and a Truck. I believe they operate out of California (helped us moving out of the state) and I can't imagine they'd charge that much for an in state move of supplies, although that's about 4000 pounds by my math so it won't exactly be super cheap either. That company we used were certainly among the cheaper of the moving companies we considered when moving and they gave us some sort of discount as I recall. Might be worth a ring to see what they'd charge and mention what you're shipping since that may help with the cost.
