And so it begins!!

The car is being taken apart and getting ready for a full build from FU2 (Jimbo)! Car should be ready here in just a matter of weeks, just waiting on some parts!

Wheels and tires are up first!

These are 15 inch XS234 addict beadlock wheels with 34” moto vator tires by efx! This tire has won a few endurance races and is a 34 as opposed to a 35 which is why I went with it. 32’s seemed to small and the 35’s seem to big to me?

How are the belts holding up with that big a tire, the weight of the 4 seater and power of a turbo? I know the 2 seat guys were killing belts with stock tires.

My FU2 Rhino is still going strong after 10+ years of abuse. I remember you giving me crap back in the day for having them build my car....glad you finally came to your senses. ;)

I wasn’t having any the car has zero miles on it. Most everyone I know is running 35’s and I just thought they were a little too big looking.

If you do any turbo upgrade I suggest the kit from Packard. Pretty much bolt on, amazing HP gains on pump gas. Two tunes on a switch, one for pump and one for race fuel. Dynojet dash display. And full support from Packard! The only downfall is the exhaust is pretty loud..

I had to walk out to my truck with a tape. My 3500 is running 32s. I can’t believe guys are running 35s on these things.

That has to put a bunch of strain on the driveline no?

The wheels and tires are not as heavy and the stuff you’d put on a truck. Typically you change the clutching on the car to deal with the larger tires so the CVT system is under less stress and works better with the larger tires. You are trading top speed and acceleration for off road capability and ground clearance.

You’ll also note that the taller tires are not any wider. I run 30x10 tires on my NA 1000 car, 32x10 are very popular on Turbo cars, and Dave has 34x9.5 tires on this one.

There’s no way there 1600 miles on that car. It’s left his garage only a handful of times.

Hey RD car looks great! It will be a looker when it’s all completed, just make sure jimbo sets you up with a roof rack. Cargo space is tight

That guy was a total kook!

And then the tweaker chick flipping us off as they rallied the 80’s Toyota hauling ass like a broken down race truck being towed from a strap...

I’m sure it’s harder than stock. I’ve got 1,800 ish on mine. It’s got 34’s and has only gone through one belt. I’m pretty easy on it overall and we only have 2 of us more often than 4.

Jimbo didnan aluminum roof rack to keep the weight down on the top. I did the assault spare tire rack over the bed.

So your title says 2019 RR. There was no RR in 2019.

Yea I thought the whole SSSS deal unwind debacle was to get a 2020 RR? Maybe he just thought better of it and wanted to save $3-4K on a '19? Cool build either way.

Possibly, it’s just that 2019 didn’t offer an RR. That triple black is a X3 MAX XRS Turbo R

Crazy. I remember when these things were just little nats on the trails in the desert getting stuck and pretty much being laughed at from start to finish. Now they are full built capable cars. Way out of my price range for what I would do with them at the moment, but still very cool.

I don't get the craze . They are a blast but built like something out of a happy meal toy . So many upgrades needed to makes these bullet proof strong. Oh did I mention I do have one myself . I mean there cool but I miss my SCU way different experience. These are just enough to get your feet in the dirt again.

The original rhino’s were basically John adder farm vehicles.. After you long travelled them though they were a ton of fun, most importantly they were 4wd and anyone could drive them from kids to adults.

Lol.. You know I hear s lot of guys on the board say that and I gotta tell you I don’t buy it. I grew up riding dirt bikes and quads, and having a beam car..

My (technically second) SXS was a kawi teryx.. That thing stock was every bit as capable as our 1835 rail, and far more trail capable.. When it was Long travelled etc it was ten times the car of the rail I grew up in and most I grew up around.

Now if you want to compare them to full blown race cars etc?? Yeah maybe not.

Fast forward now you can take a pretty stock can am and they are ridiculously capable and fast to boot. Huge amounts of suspension and speed right from the factory, and you don’t really need to do anything to them other than raise the ground clearance. Everything we are doing here is making the car better but they are improvements, not necessities.

Car has a 4 year bumper to bumper warranty, normal shops that will service it, and the resale is pretty good compared to a custom car.. lol. So people can keep preaching that line of thought, but I can’t say I understand it?

Is there someplace you can buy a fully capable desert car for 50k with a warranty?

A buyer can also finance these for little to no money down.

You would be 125k+ for a comparable 2wd off road buggy.

Dont get me wrong these things go fast enough in the dirt, I always fear something breaking which we have broke something on the last trip. But these are made to ride hard ! And relatively cheap to fix and parts are readily available so that part I completely understand.

Business card holder?

looks like they are putting a lot of thought into these now days as well. Like the door latch type set up for the lift for the spare. Few other little things I’m sure aren’t as visible. Can’t wait to see in person.

That looks like an Assault or similar RZR latching cargo/spare carrier, just made to work with this custom cage. I have seen those break/come unlatched, as there is a bunch of stress on that latch in where they have it mounted on a RZR and it has no extra support. So that is probably why they boxed the mount and made a business card holder out of it. :) See below - not the best design for the RZR. Should work great on RD's car.

Hey Dave will it be done for New Years? A bunch of us are going to Havasu for a long weekend to drive the SxS's. Were staying at my buddies house on Eagle Lane. Other friends have houses there.
We'll probably go to the airport restaurant one day and Topock another day. It would be fun to meet up.

What electronics are going in?

Everything.. Except I didn't do a Lowrance this time. I did two Ipads.

Speaking of which does anyone know what cases people are running on Ipads when they are using them for offroad use? I believe we are using Axia mounts? (not sure)
