Rdp Raft Up Friday

So I went down the lake yesterday scouting for a good raft up spot and if you guys want to do one I got a decent spot..

Across from the pump Station there is a shallow water marker pretty far out in the lake..

behind that there is a little island that barely poles through the water that I think would act as a little break water and make it ez to sand spike too etc..

If you guys want to do one this is where I would like to do it! It’s a couple miles south of 3 dunes on the AZ side across from the pump station.

IF YOU PLAN ON ATTENDING PLEASE SOUND OFF BELOW.. If we get more than 15 I will habe the helicopter come down and take the group photo.

I try to be anchored up by 11:00.. Which is the time the poker run starts and the helicopters get in the air etc..

what takes normal boaters 25-30 minutes these guys are doing in 7-8 minutes.. lol

The only speed caps that i remember are in front of copper canyon and steamboat,’then again my only runs were hugging the shore staying out of the way..

Past years it was Havasu Landing and 50mph until Pilot Rock, then good to go, with a limit when within x yards of shore. Sand Point to Cat Tail are new. 200 yards from shore - puts everyone in the middle of the lake in those sections and avoid folks cutting the corners

Sucks. This is why polorized sunglasses are a must on the water! I was wearing em, but didn't think about handing them to my son. Dumb.

I remember the last time I went to Desert Storm was 8 years ago I owned my 25' Warlock Cat. My friends all wanted to go watch the shootout near this spot.
Once it was over, we headed back. Bad idea! I have never been in such shitty water in my life. It was the washing machines of hell! I could not get on top or below. We got our asses kicked. This was Pre Covid, and Pre Center-Console days with 10 motors.

I wish you all luck! LOL....bring a cruise ship!

The 2 spots that seem to be the worst running the course are coming just past Copper Canyon where it opens up and passing site six. Big boats, high traffic and a little wind will spice up a ride. The big cats don’t cause much of an issue. The big cruisers are all kinds of fun.

I’m out for the raft up. Too wide there. Can’t really see the boats. Lake is pushing half mile wide right there. I’ll be in a cove out of the wind

well that’s kinda the problem.. lol. I remember one year a skater cutting through behind our raft up, it still raises the hairs on the back of my neck to think about it.. . Now I try to kinda stay out of the way. Lol

It's deep behind it. It's pretty well marked with hazard bouys. Just don't cut between them and the nearest shore under speed and have your crew keep an eye out for shallow water.

Mas anchors compadre if the wind starts to swirl, it could be a bad deal like last year's Mc Raftup.
