Couple days ago I was receiving messages in my business account asking me to login for something.. it looked legit but I won’t login to shit anymore unless I’m on the actual site or in the actual app.. not messenger to meta etc..

I sent it to my IT guy and he said he couldn’t tell if it was a scam or not (it looked that legit) but we elected not to respond to it and everything is still normal..

It’s so fucked nowadays.. anymore if you ever answer the phone they have your voice and can now duplicate it via AI and scam others

I recently had received invoices for both my motorcycle insurance and Kaiser after I had made those payments so sometimes I think the payment department isn't connected properly to the data, and just sends these things out automatically.

This is the latest one an email I received from “GoDaddy”. Problem is there is nothing wrong with my payment information on the account?

The email address shows “renewals@godaddy.com”.

It even has my correct customer number on it. (Which I’m not sure how they got it?)

View attachment 1320864

They got all your information in one of their breaches, and it was sold to these scammers.

I've been getting a lot of fake Docusign emails and fake mailer-daemon failure emails with attachments. There's a couple other signing services in addition to Docusign such as Adobe Sign, and I sign documents for my company, so it's pretty instinctive to click on those links to review docs... Same with email failures, it's instinctive to click on those attachments since the "failures" come from different systems and do not all look the same. Fortunately I haven't clicked on any of the fraudulent attachments, but I've come pretty darn close a couple times. Be diligent, it's getting harder and harder out there...!!!

In Chrome...

Float your mouse over the Add Your Payment Info button. The destination will show up in the bottom RH corner. (just like inmate numbers do).

I'll bet it doesn't go to GoDaddy!

We've received 2 of those grandma/grandpa, I need help ($$) calls. The first my wife took and fortunately put him on speaker. Trying to see if it was a scam, I asked this perp, posing as one of our grandsons, what his middle name was. Without hesitation, he gave it to me. That was creepy. Obviously this A Hole had some sort of info sheet in front of him. As I asked further questions, he refused to answer and then hung up. Some suggest having a 'code word' for your close family members. Not a bad idea.

I’ve got a guy texting me about my boat and wants me to send him the boats “History Inspection report”. I told him I didn’t know what that was and he sent me a link to a website called primescheck.com and a sample report. It’s $89 to run it for a boat. I’m not sure if it’s legit or not but I’m not about to put my CC info into this website. I also wonder if it’s a sales guy just promoting the site. NY area code, says he lives in Havasu and wants to come to phx to look at the boat if I can supply the report. Anyone ever heard of this?

Yep have had that one before. A guy wanted a carfax type report for a vehicle I was selling. I told him I had it and would provide it if he wanted to look at the truck. He was adamant he had to be from his source and sent me the link to who knows what. After I questioned his heritage and lack of upbringing he moved on. Sure wish there was some way to track these fucksticks down and send a “greeting” and participation trophy.

our code word is “ RD SUX “

Nobody will guess that one….

If for some reason you feel awkward …. “ 2 weeks “ is the back up password….

I don’t know the facts…. But he could be spending all day, contacting people selling boats. Pumping up the business, $89 at a time.

But a NY area code and lives in Havasu… not abnormal these days. Willing to drive to Phoenix, sounds legit. If you have phone contact, I would ask him his favorite restaurant in Havasu, what’s MAIN STREET called ? Events? In an email or text he could research. On the phone, too much hesitation…. Click.

But it would be interesting to see the report.

My wife helps elderly people weekly at the bank after being scammed. Her uncle had mental issues and gave away everything so it hits hard. She will have clients who truly believe the scammers and want their money freed up so they can claim their $200k or whatever it is.

I had a weird one the other day. I put an item on FB marketplace and got a response from someone interested. They asked me if I used Zelle and I said yes and they asked for my zelle info. I said we can exchange that info when you come for the item and they responded with some cooky answer about not wanting to do that in person because they were robbed or some shit. I just cut it off right there but I wonder where they were going with this one. They can't do shit just knowing someone's zelle info.

What’s up with the text messages that say your Amazon/USPS/ FedEx shipment has been delayed. I just swipe them to the delete/report as spam. So many ways they try to f*ck us over. It is relentless. :(

That is a scam. Or at least a hustle.

I heard of that scam on the East Coast. There is no such thing as a history inspection report.

Similarly……… Let’s say the buyer wants a professional survey done. That is at the buyers expense.

Another hustle…….. Boat brokers calls and says he has somebody interested in your boat, but wants a written agreement before he gives details. Or he wants an upfront fee. I assure you…….. there is no buyer.

The biggest dog whistle for scammers is when somebody posts a “Wanted to Buy” WTB thread.

On another boating forum that I am on, one poor guy lost 40k to a scammer selling a fake boat, well under market value. Even though the guy made some serious mistakes, I truly felt sorry for his loss. Instead of buying his 1st boat for his family, he lost the 40k he had saved for a boat. He has a wife, 2 kids, and a mortgage. Devastating!

Our Southwest visa got hit twice last night. We called one of the transaction vendors and let them know it was fraud. Then I called Chase to let them know and they must have people working from home because I can hear a dog in the background.. I’m like WTF? Is the number on the Chase app a legitimate person? Turns out it was & I canceled the card. New one on the way

Scam emails very heavy since new years

If anybody ever contacts me to try to give me free money I usually politely decline and tell em I don't need it then I pass them along my ex-wife's information she's always needing money.

Had my truck payment stolen from what I thought was a very secure postal drop box a week ago. They washed it and cashed it at one of my branches out of town . Bank called to inform me then it became part of a multi jurisdictional investigation as they were traveling I-5 creating havoc. Bastards

When I was trying to rebook some travel post-covid, I was speaking to one of their agents and there were fucking chickens in the background. Long story short, the whole ordeal was really frustrating and when asked for a review of their services, I mentioned the chickens several times. Toward the end of my response I was saying, "did I mention the fucking chickens???". Wild shit.
I got the Mr. Cooper letter too. Legit?
Yup, Merry Christmas!

It is time to unplug the internet. The experiment is over. It didn't work. 😐😐

You’re not too far off. The internet has opened up your life to the world of scammers.

Before that it was the fax machine.

Before that it was the phone.

Before that it was an air-mail letter in the mail.

Before that it was a “Dr” with a horse drawn covers wagon.

Somewhere in there Johnny Appleseed took a few as well. 😁😜

The letter from Mr. Cooper suggests contacting the three credit agencies for credit reports and putting a freeze on my credit. Is this advisable?
I’ve had a mortgage serviced by one of their “sister“ companies in the past

Yes. I have a freeze on all of mine.

Enable two step on All your accounts.

MOST companies have all your critical info encrypted. But the hackers can still cause all kinds of havoc with just your name, address and phone number.

Everyone should have everything locked down these days.

I must inquire because I've been concerned that when providing this information to yet another company in order they can search for any breeches, I'm now trusting yet another company with my information.

They already have your information...

You'd have to live off the grid to not have your data exposed in some kinna data breach at this point in time.

This is why two step authentication is pretty much mandatory going forward.

Happy reading!
