Thoughts on Nordic Boats? Midcuddy any good?

I've always liked them and 10-15 year old 25' ones seem pretty cheap. Any thoughts? I'm thinking of selling the 21 Essex this summer and picking up a Nordic when I find the right deal. Here's a decent example: http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/boa/5577683234.html

Should I go for the walk-through or mid cuddy? It seems of the 25' boats only Nordic has a midcuddy that doesn't require a contortionist manuveur to go through it. Commander looks terrible, Ultra is so-so.

Also what speeds would I be looking at with 454mag and 496HO? My Essex does 65 all day with the nose flying around in the air I love it, so nothing slower than that.

Thanks

Our 05 Rage did 65 comfortably with a 496. The mid cuddly is nice, but you will bang your head more than once getting through it even though you're aware it's there.

The Nordic 25 and tremor were the last two boats on our short list. Its happenstance that we ended up with the tremor. I browsed a few Nordics and looked at one, never sea trialed, and loved it. The way the cuddy was set up was very nice and I loved the grab rail above the swim step and ski pylon. We have two young girls and the mid cuddy is invaluable for a bunch of reasons. It's a great place for storage or the girls to get out of the sun and the tremor and Nordic were the two that I had the easiest time getting through the mid to the bow and back. The advantage 25 citation? Had a Barry nice cuddy as well

Thank you, about what I was assuming. I haven't actually gotten inside one yet. Can an adult sit in the midcuddy while underway or will their heads hit the ceiling?

Yup, plenty of headroom. We liked the mid as compared to a walk through.

I loved mine when I owned it. The mid cabin is pretty big for a 25' boat and I'm 6' and I could sit in there no problem.

I had a mid cabin / open bow, not a Nordic but did like it. Great place to get out of the element if you need to add also kept cooler and other music boat stuff down there , which gave more room in the boat [emoji106][emoji106][emoji202]

We used to run with a guy that had a 36 Nordic. We were running with a pack that included a 38 formulas, 35 cigarette, 42 cigarette 38 cigarette, couple 38 scarabs. Mind you, we were running in the pacific and not out if the protected South Bay waters but out of Ventura county were the swell is routinely 4+.

We all thought this dude was crazy buying a "lake boat" to run in the ocean. I'll tell you what, that thing was a runner. Well built, handled water great even with only the 22 dead rise and had full amenities. He ran the shit out of that thing for about 10 years until he ultimately bought the big red 40 Hallet that was owned by the owners of Hallet.

We tested a lot of Nordics at powerboat as well and from what I've seen, they have my respect. Nice boat.

We have a 2001 Rage with the 496mag ho. It will max at 71 with a 24p B1, and will run 68-69 at will any time of the year, any load. I am 6 feet and find the mid cabin quite comfortable but have hit my head often if I am rushing to the bow. I like having the covered area to escape things much more than a walk through with just a bimini. Image1463191059.523326.jpg

Seems the midcuddy deal is a winner. Thanks for the input!

AZ does not typically change numbers and those are different.

We also had an 01, loved it. Ran just as said by USMC2010. Great boat and great set up! I miss it...

This ground has been covered a few times. It's hard to beat the quality, efficiency, and well mannered handling of this boat. It's at home on a lake poker run or towing the kids on the tube. It handles very well around a dock. My 2005 496 HO runs 70 with a labbed 36 and does duty as tow platform for skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. I spend a lot of time trying to go 20 mph or cruising around and the motor doesn't work very hard so the mileage is really good. If you run hard it will drink fuel. The only complaint is storage but you just can't have everything. I do warn you that if you want to run hard in big water this is not the boat for you. Contrary to some other opinions the difference between the 25' Rage and the 28' Heat is significant when it comes to a rough day on Havasu. Good luck!

If you want a large mid cuddy and storage in a 25' boat, I dont think you are gonna find anything better suited than the Shockwave 25 Tremor. I've climbed through them all, and the tremor had more mid cabin headroom than a 28' Nordic heat even

Have you been in a 26' MCOB Cobra? Much more room than the 25' Nordic. I think that one is a great price at $31k and Nordic makes a great boat.

Totally agree, with exception of the early design with the windshield. Same size cuddy but no head room.

I have been in 3 queens 26 Cobra and it is very roomy. The mid cabin was huge. One of my favorite MCOB'S.

I'm agreeing with everything here... bad ass boats.. and fast for the power..

this boat is where I started doing the wamo center super plate... what would happen was the water would get big and the entry o would kite the boat and case the jumps.... once I put the plate it would get up on the keel and run flat on the bottom:thumbsup

I've had quite a few of these, bough everyone I could, and sold them fast as I listed them..if I wasn't broke/..i'd buy another one..

I did hit my head once running through to the open bow...:smackhead
