I was talking to both Cole and Kyle this weekend about it. Cole recommended trying props that give me more bow lift. He wanted to drive it but we were too busy havin sport sodas at the sand bar to worry about it at the time haha.
Kyle semi jokingly said to just throw a single 300 on it 😂😂
Why not call wide open and see what he thinks isn’t he the OB GURU?

how many times have you ran the boat? 5-6 times and you had done something to it before every time? i think you should leave it as is run it a couple more times so you can get a really good base feeling on how the boat preforms, reacts to different conditions/ speeds before anymore changes.

if you conitue to chase issue you might create others without knowing and you might also get tired of never enjoying the dam thing

i put a 4 blade on my boat. i hated it the first time out but i kept it on for a couple more times to make sure it was the prop not the conditions or anything else now its the backup prop.

youre right. we have a few more trips planned before baby comes! so its for sure going to be enjoyed regardless! like i said the ride isnt bad...its great actually! just not when im feelin reckless and try to trim out for that top end haha.

since its easy...i might try some weight in the bow one morning at the river if im up early enough without a hangover...HAH unlikely

Just watched some videos on Instagram. There’s one with @Duramax behind you and what looks like a red/white avenger passing you on the right. You’re burying the bow in that shot (I know from the same view lol). Do you remember what trim/tab settings you had ?

i know...im tellin ya its a snowplow!
engines were trimmed all the way in and tabs all the way up.
engines trimmed all the way in is the only way i can get a constant ride out of it without the bow bouncing. only down fall is it plows wakes to the point that water will splash us

Yea if you’re struggling with lift you oughta try a couple Trophy 22’s or something to that affect. When determining what pitch to run versus what you have now, keep in mind that if you’re successful in creating bow lift with props, now you can trim/raise them a little more and get more RPM’s out of it.

Those XR2’s are good well into the 6k rpm range, and being a 2 liter you kinda have to rev them out to get what a 2.4/2.5 gets in the 5500-5800 range.

An alternative to a jack plate would be to use a thick piece of aluminum plate to mount the motor to. Think .75-1”. This will allow you to gain height without a bunch more setback. I’ll attach a picture of mine. It’s on a jack plate AND risers with a plate tying the two risers together laterally.

For perspective mine looks like that at negative trim and the tabs buried.

@MARCYTECH no boat will be perfect. Go out and run the bitch you’ll figure it out. I’ve had mine for 3 years last trip I figured I was trimmed to high on some situations. Once I trimmed down I didn’t have to dice the wakes. I was pissed at myself for being trimmed to high before but I had figured carry the boss the bottom would figure it out ! Wrong!!!

Once the baby comes you’ll be going slow. So make sure it runs good when you go slow if you even get to go out haha

it currently doesnt run good slow either haha. i have to go like 40 minimum for it to ride good. anything slower and the bow bounces even with the engines trimmed all the way in

Got a few random days off this week so I knocked some things off the to do list.
1. Finished the trailer. Buffed and polished the whole thing. Repainted the step areas because the stick on reflectors ruined em
Finished it all off with flush mounted clear lense lights throughout!

Next up was some small tweaks on the engines. New fuel lines throughout as some of mine had some cracks in em and (I hope) were the cause some idle issues once they’ve been ram for a while 68F9CE88-DD62-4D65-A438-5499ADA4D2C4.jpeg

Then finished it off with a port engine trim pump. That motor always trimmed slower than the starboard side. A buddy had a spare so I threw it in and we’re finally trimming in unison!

Also grabbed some choppers(I think?)from a friend.they are stamped with “York” if that means anything to anyone. They’re 22 pitch which is smaller than the 23s I’ve been running but it’s a good test to see what these do for the ride! Hope to test em out Saturday at Elsinore

Judging from Instagram those choppers seem to be running better than the mirages 👍🏻
Actually all those pics were with the mirages. The choppers were 22p, mirage 23p. the choppers didn’t change the ride at all but I lost about 7mph with em on the top end.
The magic ingredient? Weight in the bow! Added 150 pounds worth of “lead wake” bags up there and they COMPLETELY changed the ride. It’s a tank when I push the nose down in the rough chop and now I can trim way out with out any porpoising and really make this thing fly. It’s so incredibly stable and smooth when it’s back on the pad.

Instead of lead up front, move some weight from the ass end to the front. Batteries are an easy way to move 100lbs from the ass end to the front.

Not always. But I get what you mean.

I wonder how much 100ish feet of battery cable weighs in a thick enough gauge to handle a 25 foot run.
I’ll bet it’s more than 150 pounds.

2/0 is half a lb/ft
4/0 is .75lb/ft

Either are overkill for carb Wackers at a 25' run.

Got all the wiring buttoned up just gotta wire my trim switch. Pretty happy with the outcome.

Also hid this little guy in the glove box. Gauge for both batteries and usb chargers. Wanted to keep it hidden so that the outside looks as original and old school as possible.

The dash is pretty much done for now. In the future I’d like some new gauges and a billet glovebox door (if I don’t decide to fill it and re gel the dash)
For now. A new steering wheel will complete it soon. Also going on week 4 of my 2 week lead time throttle pedal lol😂

For anyone who has a trim switch mounted to the steering wheel, how are you running the wires? Do you let a coiled loom hang or???

been workin on the boat a little bit lately. i never liked how the side pockets inside the boat didnt have anything to em, just big holes so they always looked messy. got some netting and made a platform that has cupholders and then added a door to store all the passenger BS. haha

also this thing might be up for sale soon.

So the wife and I decided against selling it. We like it too much so it was time for some upgrades. First thing was updating the steering system. Went with a complete sea star pro hydraulic steering kit with their front tie bar set up.
I can’t say enough about this product. Install went really smooth and the steering feels incredible. Super smooth and one handed operation in any speed!
I had to make a dash plate to adapt the new helm since my old hydraulic helm was a much bigger diameter

Next up was replacing the shifter with a nicer unit and moving it up to cover some marks in the gel from where the old hand throttle used to be. We went with the n control shifter. Had to make a 3/16 spacer to bolt it on because it was hitting on the underside but that’s all taken care of. All in all I’m super happy with the way everything looks! Next up is some new gauges!

Last but not least was some custom graphics for the engines. Went with the modern Mercury racing graphic style and adjusted em per my engine hp

I really like the Hallett Vector line and always take notice when I see an outboard Vector but your twin Vector takes it to another level. 👍👍
