Mine and my brothers, we built it for my dad before he passed.

This one had a 350 with a saginaw 4 speed when we picked it up. The clutch hurt his hip and back, so we swapped it for an auto.

Then it had a 440" BBC, 12:1 with a solid flat tappet clay smith grind (old school 80's drag motor, Iron chevy L88 heads, stud girdles, 850 DP, etc etc

We put this LS combo together and dropped it in, haven't really had a chance to play with it as the converter was too tight so the motor came back out for a few combo changes.. Winter project is to get it back together and install the coilovers and rear spring package that's waiting for it, and then get it to paint shop.

I believe your Top Cat needs a bit more power not less prop! 😁

What does your capacity plate read?? ....

Boat Capacity Calculator
If your boat doesn't have a Capacity Plate, you can calculate the number of people you can safely take onboard using the following equation and calculator.

Number of people = vessel length (ft.) x vessel width (ft.) ÷ 15

First, find out the length and width of your boat in feet, then use our calculator to find out your boat's capacity.

https://www.boaterexam.com/boating-resources/boat-capacity.aspx

So according to this, I can take 13 people but only run 15hp? The boats built with 6000lbs of ballast capacity so I guess 13 is fine but it’s way more than 15hp lol.

I wanted to post an update for everyone.

10 people on board yesterday, with their ice chests, one full fuel tank and the other half full. All 10 are kinda big people, 115 degrees outside. Boat got on plane no problem, just had to put 2 big guys up front. 40 mph at 4000 rpm. Two more friends are coming today and we’re going to Topock.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

We ended up using my Friend's boat all weekend. My first break from driving on a holiday weekend in 10 plus years. Her production boat has the capacity plate and it is 12. We got pulled over by a newbie who couldn't drive and they could care less how many were on board. Just wanted vests for each and to check Her eyes. His reason was driving to close to shore. Said we were way close he mentioned 25'. He clearly never used a tape measure before. We would of been hitting the anchored boats at 25'. Once he realized she had drank zero he gave us a warning and admitted it was hard to stay a 100' from shore on a holiday with the other traffic. Boat handled 12 no problem.

I would love to feature both when the second one is done and get the stories

Hoping to have Andy’s in the water for a shake down by end of August.
‘Mine will be at Detail Specalties on Thursday for some love.

We are hoping to have both of them at the Conquest nota regatta September 11 and 12
