GF got an implant for a crown that failed, not sure why it failed but Dentist basically said hes not responsible for anything. Glad it was not a more serious result. There is no recourse if anything goes wrong including death. Lots of people have success, but I'm going to spend my money in the US of A.I know the boards are all over the place when it comes to going to Mexico, but anyone got any pros or cons of getting some work there, specifically crowns for implants?
Yea i did the implant portion of it here, but looking North of 7k for what i need, that's with insurance. Might be 2k there.GF got an implant for a crown that failed, not sure why it failed but Dentist basically said hes not responsible for anything. Glad it was not a more serious result. Buddy has 2 cousins that are dentists there, if i did go probably be Algodones area.I've heard pros and cons. I want to say someone here had a good "go-to" office in Algodones. Hopefully they'll chime in.
One of my more "sketchy" friends years back went to urgent care in Anaheim. They said his pain was appendicitis. His brother in law was a surgeon in Mexico City...the flight sucked, but was cheaper than surgery hereI’ve known many people to have dental work in Mex.
Much more good to say than bad.

Thanks for info.Im in the field, I have seen good work and I have seen bad work from Mexico. But I have seen some sketchy craftsmanship and we have fixed a lot of dental work that was not done properly, including super glue in a dental implant that almost caused failure. Have seen patients spend double what it wouldve cost in the states to fix the work they had done in another country. I'm not saying all dental work in Mexico is bad, but Id be cautious. Thats my 2 cents. Part of the issue imo, is knowing a patient wont come back if problems arise. Doesnt mean every dentist in Mexico is bad by any means.
… I get my dental work done in Panorama City California… The dental office looks like it’s on a back street in Tijuana… my really good. dentist worked out of there for a while till he had to have some major surgery… Now he is retired…. This little office is now owned by a Filipino lady who in the Philippines was a dentist… But she is not here… she has hired a male dentist and a female dentist… the male is great… he has a Hispanic name… The female not so much… I had a bunch of bridge work done so that I could have a smile… had a lot of problems with it at first, but lately everything seems to be going OK… I always take a handful of whatever I can find it in my medicine cabinet before I let them do any drilling and grinding… So what did I do when this bridgework started… I hit on the female dentist… kind ofIm in the field, I have seen good work and I have seen bad work from Mexico. not sure about dentists but as a kid growing up in Yuma, I "heard from a friend" you could get a haircut and a bj for 5 bucks. Late sixties he said.
Happy ending dentistry?… I get my dental work done in Panorama City California… The dental office looks like it’s on a back street in Tijuana… my really good. dentist worked out of there for a while till he had to have some major surgery… Now he is retired…. … twice…
… This little office is really clean and has a certain Third World charm about it…![]()
Be interesting to know who those are? There are some American dentists that have offices there as well. The work a couple days a week and keep the cash off the books. Low overhead, no insurance costs.
Yea i agree, but gluing on a tooth to a stud isn't exactly a heart surgeon work. When it comes to saving money in life, putting my health on the line is aways my go-to place to start.
That's the final stage.Yea i agree, but gluing on a tooth to a stud isn't exactly a heart surgeon work.
I have had a couple implants here in the states they ran about 3500 and 4k for the last one.But like mentioned the whole process took just about a year.tooth pulled bone implant or whatever its called,Let it heal for a 3-4 months then go in they do the implant screw wait another 4-5 months then go back and they start the tooth crown part then go back get that installed.Curious how long it takes for an implant in mexico. Here it takes almost a year by the time they put in the cadaver bone and wait for it to set.
Same with prescription drugs. People would bring their bottle to the pharmacy and ask Mrs EZ what's in there. She said she doesn't read spanish lol.
Not sure I want to put their pills in my mouth either.
yep, Havasu to Yuma alone is 150 miles. Figure in at least 3 round trips with gas and time and wear and tear on your vehicle.I have had a couple implants here in the states they ran about 3500 and 4k for the last one.But like mentioned the whole process took just about a year.tooth pulled bone implant or whatever its called,Let it heal for a 3-4 months then go in they do the implant screw wait another 4-5 months then go back and they start the tooth crown part then go back get that installed.
I though about the algodones dentist but then after travel and time it was just easier to do locally.figure 3 trips from phx place to stay all adds up.
Yea i have all the major stuff done, just need abutment and crown. That's the final stage.
First is removal of old tooth.
Then the first stage is inserting the cadaver bone into the jawbone and making sure it accepts that bonding before putting on the post.
There's a lot of cutting and sewing and xrays along the way.
Not sure how much money is being saved here but it's not an EZ process and I sure wouldn't want to be driving 3 hours after each visit.
… I thought it might be going towards a happy ending with the female dentist… As when she was done working on me, she invited me to come sit in the office with her… But the chick that owns the facility would have none of that… She had a meeting somewhere and basically threw me out of the dental office… Because she could see what might happen???… one of those things that I will never know…Happy ending dentistry?
Wife has had the same experience in both TX and CA.I’m not sure about the quality of dentistry in the USofA. Family has had some questionable work done locally here in California.

Yea i don't have any off that, just a few 25-35 year old root canals and crowns that are about at the end of their shelf life, one of them happen to be part of a bridge, so no more bridge only option is a implant, when you have a bridge for 30 years you do loose bone were there wasn't a tooth under bridge, being a upper molar is very close to sinus cavity and can even go into if dentist don't know their shit. The reason most have dental issues with Mexico or any other place is because your mouth is jacked up. Lol.
If you need a bone implanted you got allot more issues going on that just needing a new tooth. I had a family member pay 50k for a whole new set of teeth had all kinds
problems. He had gum issues , bone decay etc
I had an implant done here in the US, pretty straight forward took about 4-6 months with stud thing implant and new tooth. Not bone cadaver or antibiotics needed.
If you have bad gums, bone decay etc you might have problems anywhere you go.
Not going to say you can't get good work done there.Yea i don't have any off that, just a few 25-35 year old root canals and crowns that are about at the end of their shelf life, one of them happen to be part of a bridge, so no more bridge only option is a implant, when you have a bridge for 30 years you do loose bone were there wasn't a tooth under bridge, being a upper molar is very close to sinus cavity and can even go into if dentist don't know their shit.
