Hello,

In the market for a 21ft open bow I/O. Have been looking around at a few different boats. I found a very clean 2004 Ultimate Warlock 21 LXI with a Volvo 5.7 SX that's carbureted. The boat has about 350 hours on it. The boat is very clean, the cleanest one I have seen yet. I am looking to spend around $15k, problem is I can't find very much information on this specific boat and I don't know much about Volvo power instead of Merc 5.7/alpha one setup which is what the other boats I have been looking at have. I would appreciate any information you can provide on this ultimate warlock lxi setup.

I can't help on that specific power and be drive. But I just sold my 04 warlock lxi with a 350 Merc and bravo 1 drive. I had it for about 5 years and it was flawless. They are well build boats. The Havasu chop was a bit much for it but nothing you can't overcome with the experience.

Good luck!

The main difference is you have a 4bbl holley sitting on top instead of a quadrajet or a webber. The volvos are far more susceptible to overheats so do an impeller every year instead of every other year. Achilles heal on that power package is the power steering actuator, they like to leak.

If it can be had for 15k and is clean, I say do it

I have one more question.. I have been looking for a boat for several months so have a good idea of the landscape. I rarely see Warlock's come up which tells me they didn't make too many of them. When I do see them come up they are 1990's not 2000's. Additionally, I rarely see ultimate boats for this timeframe come up for sale so what the heck is an "ultimate warlock" especially 2004 and why have I literally never seen one for sale in the last 3-4 months? Hopefully that isn't a bad sign :)

They're good boats. Built like shit brick houses. They won't be the fastest thing out there, but its mostly due to their stoutness

@Gelcoater may know more of the fine details on the company

Never heard anything bad about ultimate warlock. Have owned 2 boats with Volvo power a 350 with super charger, over 800 hours till heads got tired, no problem with drive. Other a 4.3 sx, no problems. Never had a cooling problem on either.

I only did a couple of boats for them.
Don’t remember what years but they were in what was the Eliminator building on Grove in Anaheim.
Carter Reed was part of the organization.

Carter built ultras, then built warlock and ultimate warlocks over by Gibson exhaust in corona, buddy has a 04 23 lxi still running it to this day. His boat was built in the limo place off the 91 in corona and the last place carter built boats I believe..

It looks very similar to this boat I linked except it doesn't have a wake tower. I guess I am just confused as I didn't know warlocks were made into the 2004's and the look of this boat isn't the normal "warlock look" I have seen before where it's very boxy. I am going to take a look at the boat I found on Thursday and hopefully take it out for a test run.

Yeah this is the exact layout of what mine was (image is my avatar). Also an 04. I sold it at the end of august for 25k, granted it had the Merc 350 and Bravo drive. But is that worth an extra 9k to you? 16k sounds like a decent deal.

I had a 96 Ultimate for 12 plus years, sold it to a buddy who still has it. 350, merc Alpha drive, big tanks and would run forever on fuel. Ran mine in Parker and mostly and could get 53 mph from it. They are built stout for sure, never had an issue. Still see some on the water now and then.

Looks nice! Any idea what the weight is on these boats?
