Looking at the engine swap pics, with towable hoists, I was lucky. Never rented one. My older brother had a good job, but no tools or skills. He bought a nice one at Sears for me and my friends to pull his motor. I was 13...me and my friends passed that cherry picker around for at least 10 years. For the life of me, can't remember who borrowed it last though🤣

I was thinking about this exact thing... used to see people towing those cherry pickers all the time, as a kid I thought is was strange because we never had one of those, my dad has chain fall hoists is his front and back garage, just assumed everyone else did as well.

I can remember renting them. This is me (on the right) and a buddy in 1977 or so. We bought a couple of pinto wagons from the neighbor. One with a good body and one with a good motor. Changed the motors out on the street right in front of the house.
