A seemingly innocuous air pollution proposal before the California Legislature could ban the sale of portable generators in the state, and have a crippling effect on RVers who rely on them to power their rigs when shore power is not available.

According to definition of the proposal, the ban could include the use of generators installed in most motorhomes and other motorized RVs. RVers who travel with trailers and fifth wheels would be unable to use portable generators.

In a state that has yearly rolling brown outs, power outages when the winds blow too hard which happens for a few months every year let's outlaw gas generators. This makes all the sense in the world to the people who are building a bullet train that won't go over 80 mph between two cities that have a population who will never use it. The level of stupidity in this state continues to amaze me.

More people need to know that generators are included in this law and how stupid that is.

Unfortunately CARB has too much power and the general voting public has zero experience to relate to RV’ers or campers who rely on generators. It’s inevitable at this point.

I’m looking into lithium and solar for my bus right now. Even with a giant lithium battery setup and like 4000w of solar on the roof I can barely run ONE ac for like 5 hours. Let alone two. And then there’s the environmental impact of a) making the batteries in the first place and b) there’s little recycling effort made for them once they’re consumed.

Our gardener had to get electric equipment because a couple posh neighborhoods he works in have noise ordinances. Spent lots of $ to get them too. Told me every tool has failed or died in the first year.

What amazes me is how many people there are who not only don't know about shit like this . . . but really don't care !
Case in point . . . my neighbor who's a retired HB fire engineer . . . it seems every other week we are chatting about some new law, regulation, or restriction and he always says, 'No I haven't heard about it". Then when I get all fired-up and say "fuck this state, and fuck Newsom", he looks at me like I'm some out of control wacko, and just replies, "Welp, watcha gonna do"??? . . . and walks away.

I live in a fairly conservative (by CA standards) neighborhood . . . and the amount of 'I don't give a shit' blows me away. Don't even get me started about the infiltration of left-wing wack-jobs who've infected our city with their Prius, Telsa's, Subaru's, and Volvo's.

Funny . . . on the rare occasion I have to go into my local Trader Joe's , I always like to throw on my Sig Sauer ball cap just for the reactions I get which are priceless.

That’s about the only thing I could think of that makes sense of this. If you wanna kill the RV Travel Industry and the Billions of dollars it brings into the state every year that is one way to do it.

This state has already lost approx 50% of the conservative base via relocation over the last 2 decades. Bills like this can only get the other 50% to think about doing the same.

A true Socialist Utopia only has 2 Classes of people. The Ruling Class and the Servant Class. So unless yore Uber Rich the only others left will be serving their daddy’s every need. No Thanks!!

Our friend is a realtor and she is doing very good this year selling in California. She said since July 2020 she has helped four buyers purchase and All we’re going from condos to starter homes. None of her sales are repurchasing in California.

Why wouldn’t you just continue to use/repair the equipment you have? Drive to Vegas and buy more when needed.

Using the “owners equipment” will end in tears. When the gardener is the only one using the tools and he can’t do his job because the batteries are smoked, and/or the owner didn’t charge them, who will get blamed? Even better when the tools break, the gardener will be blamed and told to fix or replace them since he’s the only one using them anyway.

If I’m on the hook for providing the tools, I’m paying way less.

I think Newscum/this law has $30 Million set aside to help lanscapers buy new equiptment.

This law is a joke but I would not be sad to see gas leafblowers go away.

It’s going to be interesting for sure. The generator portion will most likely be eased. The larger units will be allowed. The utility companies are giving rebates to make sure that their customers have reliable power.
The biggest problem will be with small engine manufacturers. Honda didn’t bother getting their latest inverters Carb approved because they see the writing on the wall. Honda and the rest are slowing production of small engines. Supply on gas trimmers/mowers/riders will be tight at best for the next 2 years.

You’re struggling to see the correlation to the bill? Do you see how broad they’re statements are? Once the bill is passed it gives them massive opportunity over a wide range of “engines.”
