I couldn't tell you what the solution is as I'm not a wiring guy, but I used to get a pop when I'd open the engine hatch etc.. Wired for sound fixed it in like ten minutes.

RD

Dave @ Wired For Sound just did some diagnosing on a speaker that would work intermittently on our boat. He resolved the issue and ended up tuning the whole system as well. Great guy to work with. Efficient and fair $

Where did you order from?
Shipping is usually much more than these parts.

I was going to get them through a parts house, found them on Ebay for cheaper. It was $8 shipped for 4. Orvak probably has them, but $8 is cheaper than the gas to get there.

Mmmmmm give me a little I’ll go check the boat, I’m putting a new head unit in today cause the old one doesn’t have Bluetooth

Thanks! I dont have my boat here, otherwise I'd just go measure the terminal. They look like #8 terminals, maybe #10.

I had to run new cables to the remote when I changed head units for that reason.

One is a data link, the other is hardwired.

Mine all one unit though I don’t think you can change out the plug

Found this one looks to have the plug I need but I have to hope it’s the same size as what I have in there now cause I don’t want to see a mark on the dash

I see what you mean now, I couldn’t really see the plug on the back side of the remote but I’m assuming you can change it?

No, one works through voltage or on-off signals (analog), and the other one is digital. The Rockford Fosgate has the same plug as the head unit you posted. It looks like it's a 3" diameter cutout, just check the website and find the specifications.

I just don’t get how Sony doesn’t even offer one to work with their heady it’s for the boat now. So do you think the Rockford one will work then?

Think I found the same one which is a different model but has the same plug

Probably not. So you have a Sony head but it doesn't have the Unilink remote connector?

Ya they said it would work so I ordered it now I’m debating should I just rip it back out

The R-F remote doesn't have the same plug as your head unit.

I think I finally figured out what you're doing... replacing an existing Sony head unit with a new one, and the new one's remote plug is different.

Yep, it looks like a new head unit with a compatible remote is in your future.

Idk what I can put over that hole now cause I just did research it looks like that head unit and remote is from 09! Haha

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk the Rockford is a tad to small I don’t know what to do i do like it though it would match the gauges with the chrome ring

Get RD to spin up a hole cover with the correct opening size and have it chromed. It's a boat, they're supposed to punish you.

That’s the difference in size it’s not much but I don’t know what it will look like on the back size of the old one

Kenwood kmr-d772bt head unit and remote kca-rc55mr remote are what you want to go with, great quality stereo at a fair price

Should fit your existing holes as well

Hey I’ll return all my stuff as long as that head unit is Bluetooth haha

What do you think the bt in the model number stands for?! Lol.

But seriously I have this head unit in 2 of my boats. I took a coworker and a couple ladies out 2 weeks ago and let him hook up his phone because my music is not so people friendly and I was fucking with him from my remote. He had set a song or playlist or whatever while we were anchored out in the cove and i was lounging in the captain's chair just kind of half dozing off at that point. But if i didnt like the song, i would reach over to the remote that i put next to my shifter and hit skip. He thought his phone was going crazy for almost 3 hours. Cheap entertainment lol.

The beauty with that setup is you can get splitter cables and run multiple remotes, I think up to 3? My head unit on the Ultra is next to the co-pilots seat and I have 2 remotes; 1 next to my shifter/throttle control, and 1 on the transom.

I had a 30' Sundancer set up similar to that. Multiple remotes are great to have when the head unit is in the cabin.

Those Kenwood/JVC headunits are nice for a boat. I switched to an Alpine HU for their RF remote, I liked the JVC marine head unit I had better though.

My thing is I like when stereo adjustments are just bass treble and mid some have a bunch of different stuff and it’s a pain haha

Yea.. Dont buy an Alpine. The JVC/Kenwoods are easy to adjust if you don't enable the custom EQ :)

So far after my trip last week I have no more popping in my speakers and my new head unit came in so I installed that but now I’m waiting on a wire extension for the new remote.
